At 9:00 is my favorite shot. At 21:13 Jimmy Vasser blows his turbocharger. At 26:00 yellow flag. At 33:25 Restart. Iconic flyby at 39:52. Al unser pass at 40:35. Scott blows his engine at 41:30 2nd caution flag. Restart at 44:50.
Montoya third straight win out of 5 races in the season. He tamed CART cars even more quickly and easily than Alex Zanardi. CART in 1999 and 2000 was probably the peak of AOWR: really challenging cars to drive, engines were 1000 bhp grenades, races were amazing.
Indycar so Need to rebuild this track and/or copy it’s exact dimensions at a new venue in the states … either way only difference is new version needs safer walls on the full length off the four straights and super deep chained up tire walls at the end off the long straights … would be the perfect hybrid off road and oval racing 🫶
All these old races do is remind one just how far Indycar has fallen. It's better now than it has been in recent years, but it's nothing near as good as it was during the 90s.
@@TheUsmc0802 too me they look like a duck wearing goggles. Honestly Aflac is missing a great opportunity to sponsor a car that looks like their mascot
Best era of open wheel in my opinion!! Watched it religiously at 10 years old
I was 10 years old to watch CART racing back in 1999!🏎🏁
I was 11 back in 1999 watching this series.
@@EdwinWhite-wz7kn Cool!
There is an entire generation of Indycar fans that do not know what CART was. Keep posting these videos!
First race that I saw Live on track in my life
I love watching these. We desperately need a good Indycar game that features classic cars
flag to flag dreamcast!
They honestly should go back to Mexico, Brazil, and Australia in some way or another.
Essa pista jamais deveria ter sido destruída! Um crime! 💔

Died in Auto Club California speedway and the year is 1999.
Omg...I miss this place so much...I'm from Rio

I miss the glory days of CART. More sponsors, manufacturers, drivers with great personalities, exotic venues and loads of prize money.
This was Reynard at its peak
Great track.

With a lap time of about 23 seconds that is an average of 93.

Wait. It's looks like they could do a figure 8 course there. Wow
This is what Indycars are suppose to look like! The new cars are ugly.
They finally got them looking good and then installed the goofy windshield.

@@Scorpio19110 OMG remember those! Good lord, went from gorgeous open top prototypes to that grotesque monstrosities.
Is this still around?
The cart series is not longer around and the racetrack was demolished to build facilities for the Rio Olympic.
@@kenmorimoto9708 Okay but i already knew Cart was no more and it actually merged back with the IRL
