BANGKOK to KANCHANABURI (Rough Travel Day) 🇹🇭Thailand Travel Vlog

  • In today's Thailand travel vlog, we journey from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi for the first time, but only after getting caught in a massive downpour and missing our van.
Despite a few setbacks, we finally made it to our destination, and even though we had no real plan, we were excited to check out Thailand's third-largest province and learn more about its harrowing past.
Once settled into our homestay, we grabbed Thai food from a local restaurant before finally visiting the Death Railway Museum just before they closed.
Afterward, we took time to reflect on what we had learned at Wat Thaworn Wararam Cemetery and the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery before returning to our homestay for the evening.
Our first day in Kanchanaburi went differently than planned, but it will be a day we remember forever.

In the bus terminal building, they didn't yell to you guys at all. They just said the name of bus-bound provinces out loud in front of the bus ticket booths. ❤❤

They did not yell at you guys. They yelled "Ratchaburi" which is a destination if you want to go to Ratchaburi you have to go toward her. Another destination Nakorn Pathom. They speak very loud so that their customers know where to get the ticket to that particular destinations. It is a kind of marketing ways like Japanese Izakaya.

That actually makes a lot of sense now that we know, but it can be a bit jarring when you have no idea what is going on. We thought we trespassed or something. 😅

Oh wow, we can imagine! Such an emotional, heavy past.
We really enjoyed learning about the events here and at Hellfire Pass. We never knew we were as into history, let alone war history, as we seem to be. It was absolutely a place we feel should be highlighted.
Thank you for watching. Have you seen our video on Hellfire Pass? I’ll leave the link here in case you are interested. ☺️

Pad Kraprao that you have, Thai people usually order 2 plates of rice and share that. This is why you've gotten a very big portion. If you ordered rice with Pad Kraprao on top, it would be around 50 baht. What you ordered was Pad Kraprao (80 baht) and a plate of rice (10 baht). You will get too big portion for one.

    • @mikeandashley

What they shouted in front of the ticket office was Names of provinces that are destinations Which is the name of the province that the passenger wants to go to
There are both government and private bus companies.
which has been yelling like this for a long time In fact, for Thai people, when we hear shouts, we will immediately know that hey, my destination. Tickets can be purchased right here.
may seem shocking to tourists But those ticket salesmen do things that Thai people generally find travel channels easier.

Makes sense! We’ve seen it a lot now. We had just never experienced anything like that before 😂😅.
Now hopefully we can help other foreigners not look silly when they walk in! 😂😂
Thanks for your comment and for watching! 🤗

@@mikeandashley Kanchanaburi in the summer is very hot. This year the temperature reaches 40+ degrees.
But it is also a province with abundant forests.
No wonder during World War 2. European prisoners of war endured the harsh climate here, and at that time there was also a very high concentration of malaria-carrying mosquitoes. and here i think It played a part in many deaths during that time.

It did. So many. We learned all about it in our trip to Hellfire Pass. So hard to fully comprehend.

@@mikeandashley I searched for information on Thai hospitals about malaria patients on the border of Kanchanaburi and other nearby provinces with a 370-kilometre border.
including nearby patients from Myanmar who came for treatment in 2013
It had 9196 infections and 6 deaths.
Most of them happen to people who like to explore the forest and lack protection.
Kanchanaburi is famous for its forests, gems, wildlife, World War II gold and malaria.
This is one aspect of Thai tourism that does not alert tourists.
which I don't think is correct.
