    I’ve had this bike for about two months and it’s pretty great! I bought this model specifically because i plan on upgrading everything over the next two years. I like to tinker with my bikes, so it wouldn’t make sense to buy a higher end model. I’m surprised by the base setup though. Everything works pretty well! The rear shock and brakes are probably the weakest link. This thing definitely needs some 4 piston brakes. Other than that, this thing shreds! It rides like a Cadillac and gets off the ground pretty nicely. Is not the most playful thing in the world, but i have a feeling that can change with some lighter upgrades. If you are looking for a short travel trail bike that can do just about anything, you can’t go wrong with this one!

      I rented this bike on a short work trip. I was pretty impressed. The weight didn't really bother me either. Mind you the shop was really good at maintaining their rental fleet and adjusted tire , fork, shock pressures properly for my weight.

      Very happy! I basically rebuilt it from the ground up. I used a marzocchi bomber z1 at 150mm in the front and marzocchi bomber air in the back. I replaced the drivetrain with sram gx. I used magura mt5 brakes and i put on Hunt Endurowide wheels. I also installed a cascade link. It gave me a bit more travel in the back. I ride a lot of chunk and needed the bike to be a bit beefier. I probably spent way too much on upgrades but it was well worth it.

    Great overview on this Stumpjumper! I just purchased one from my local dealer and can't wait to ride it! It's getting dialed in for my body size and going tubeless. I had a Rockhopper 29 that I bought in 2020 and after riding that bike hard I decided to sell it and go full suspension. I also love the dropper post as a standard item on this bike. I bought the matte black stumpy.

    Nice review. I have the 2021 and think it's a great bike. The only miss is the Eagle NX, it's just too slow down/up and a bit finicky so I'll be swapping for the Eagle GX. Suspension is good for the riding I do, I'm not super aggressive and it smooths out rough trails, logs and rock gardens nicely--- I frankly wouldn't know what to do with all the other adjustments that come with upgraded versions. I really like the geometry and the bike climbs well with the stock tires. The brakes are fine with good modulation and stopping power despite some reviewers complaining about them. Sure if I did tons of downhilling I might swap them out. Aside from the derailleur upgrade the only other thing I'm doing is turning the flip chip to the high position to give that a try. I'm 5'11" and the S4 is good for me and I think the S3 would be fine as well.

    Have this bike on a matte black. I've owned it for a few months and have been going to my local trail on the weekends! This bike has been great and everything held up fine. No complaints to be honest. I have been riding this downhill at 25mph and no problems, rolls on any type of rocks/terrain and brakes with ease. For $2100 you can't go wrong with this! I also had my bike shop convert the tires to tubeless! It's a must!

    I got this bike last month. It is a solid bike and a lot of fun to ride. I went with the base alloy because there was nothing available in my size south of $6K. I upgraded to a GX derailleur and DPS Float Performance Elite. I am planning on putting a GX crank and Dub BB and that’s about it - I guess aside from the fork that would spec it above a comp alloy when I’m done. Definitely worth getting if you want to tinker and upgrade as you go. The frame is what’s important.

    I have a 2021 made in July bought in November. I only have 44 miles on it but due to a thorn and ?? I had to patch both tubes. The rims seem to be taped, the tape saying tubeless, yeah the official specs don't say tubeless. James weighed an orange one and got 35.76 pounds, this one was less.

    • @hambo76
      @hambo76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's frustrating because here in Australia, the jump to the Comp is nearly AU$2,000! If I were buying this, I'd sell the SRAM SX drivetrain and buy a Microshift Advent X setup - 10sp 11-48T is enough range, and then replace the brakes with a set of Shimano MT-520 four piston front and rear. That still leaves you with narrow wheels, an entry level shock and a heavy fork. Perhaps the used market would be useful here?

    I saw this bike on Specialized website for online order. I am not a hardcore biker and did not play around at all with my previous mtn bike. I am curious if I will be able to assemble it by myself being a casual biker. My other question is what size I should order - I am 5'11"/6" male about 210lb. I had a Stumpjumper purchased from a friend and I did not even check the size. He was a little taller, maybe 6'1"/6'2", and lighter. I just tried the bike and it felt ok, but again I don't know so much about bikes. I wonder if you guys can give me some advice.

    • @IIISentorIII
      @IIISentorIII ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go with the S4, I'm also 5'11 on a S4 Carbon Comp.
      MY personally recommendation would be go with the next "upgraded" version of the Bike, the comp model ( alloy or Carbon) if you can.
      And do *not* build it yourself based on wha you where writing :) You need the right tools and understanding how do do that which is something you can acquire over a couple of months but not from the start.

    • @Jamesthebikeguy
      @Jamesthebikeguy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lots of reasons. Most likely due to tires and build. The orange one had an older variant of the Purgatory Grid tire, my guess is these might be lighter. There is over 100g of grease built with a bike, so variations show. 100+ grams can be in what tubes are in the bike, especially when we think of the 2021 being a pandemic bike, cable brand & lengths could easily contribute 50g +/-, bottom bracket and chain choice - again orange one was a pandemic bike. And then lastly its a different scale that will contribute error one way or another.
      This is why I weight these bikes, all sorts of variables. While my weights shouldn't be taken as gospel, they give a pretty good starting place to see what something actually weights.

    Hi, I have been riding mtb enduro bikes for the last 14 years now. I have bought bikes from different manufacturers (Trek, Santa Cruz, YT). My latest purchase is the Specialized e-mtb Turbo Comp with an aluminum frame. First, the bike's quality/price ratio is one of the worst, if not the worst, in the market today... a very high price for the bike's poor-quality components. Secondly, their customer support is "WORTHLESS." It looks like people there are trained to reject claims! I say this because their answers show poor thought answers!
    Some of the problems with my bike:
    1) I had to change the original front and rear tires after a few rides... The tubeless tire sealants were licking all over.
    2) Within a year, the rear wheel hub collapsed... So I had to buy a new one.
    3) The latest one is that the whole frame shows a severe corrosion problem. It is growing all over it at an incredible speed.
    MY HUMBLE ADVICE... Run away from Specialized bikes. There are many good bikes out there with better customer support services!

    Yeah, then spend another $900 +/-, on a BBSO2 and 52v 15ah battery, and you take a dookie 😂 all over the Turbo Levo snobs for around for around 3500

    Do NOT buy this bike! I've been riding it hard for 7 months now and have replaced the derailleur, rear suspension, shifter, crank, bottom bracket. If you're just using it to ride easy trails, sure
    But if you plan to hit anything technical, or progress shop elsewhere! Either spec up for the comp version or get a YT, Polygon or other brand that sells better components at this price. The derailleur and bottom bracket are TRASH and BOTH gave me major problems within 6 weeks of riding.

      The BRAKES are fine unless you are doing tons of intense downhill. Swapping to the GX Eagle is fairly inexpensive to swap out and definitely would recommend doing the swap. The frame and geometry is outstanding on this bike.

      its not comparable to my Rose ThrillHill, but that bike costs over 3k more than the Stumpy...
      I had some Giant, Focus, KTM & Canyon bikes in the past and the Stumpy is the best allrounder for under 3k you can buy atm.
