CONGESTION TIPP (please boost this, I wanna help Colleen): So there‘s this thing we call „Wechselduschen“ in Germany which basically means „alternating shower“ but idk the correct word for it in English... you basically shower REALLY HOT for a couple of seconds and then switch to REALLY COLD for a couple of seconds (no transition), start from your feet and move upwards and then repeat this process over and over a couple of times. It’s safe to do in pregnancy apparently and to make it very efficient for congestion, do this exact process with your head down and let Erik do it on your neck (so your hair doesn’t get wet), then wrap your neck in some warm towels and cuddle up in bed for a bit... that usually relieves the congestion A LOT and the heavy head and headaches that come with it! hope that helps❤️ Sending lots of love! You can do this Colleen, you are so strong and I’m sending you alllllll the positive Energy your way 🥰🥰

Sounds like torture but I might try it because I always have a blocked nose I don't know why. I've had it for years and my mom doesn't think it's serious but I get shortness of breath so many times a day it's so annoying

You can do this with alternating hot and cold packs on your sinuses. It only lasts while the ice pack is on your face but oh god the relief is amazing. Also sinus massage is sometimes helpful. Look up a sinuses chart for help on where to press the ice pack or how to massage.

We use this to help with chronic pain in the spoonie community it really helps me after I've had a dislocation it helps the fluids to drain out of the muscle and take down the swelling it's never helped me with congestion but if there's anyone with chronic pain or even an athlete with soreness it really helps a lot

I’m a lactation counselor and high risk OB nurse. You start making milk around 20 weeks. Don’t squeeze it out as that can cause contractions. If you are leaking you can use milk savers to collect the colostrum and put in syringes and freeze for babies when they are born. Happy to answer any other questions!

Congestion during pregnancy is caused by swelling of your blood vessels due to the increase in the amount of blood. Try using an ice pack on the back of your neck to reduce the swelling. Also, with my 3rd pregnancy, my milk came in at 24 weeks while I was in the shower as well. With my 1st it was at 33 weeks, and with my 2nd it wasn't until the day after I gave birth. It's just different with each pregnancy from my experience.

Your can also use ice packs on your face... look up a sinuses chart. I will lay a warm washcloth on my face for 20 or 30 seconds them immediately switch to an ice pack and it will clear my sinuses, though it only helps for a few minutes, sinus massage can help extend it a bit.

Hey Colleen! I am a postpartum/newborn nurse. If you are already having drops of colostrum it would be awesome if you could collect some and freeze it for babies when they get here!! Often with exclusively breastfeed twins we can have some blood sugar issues just because moms milk hasn’t fully come in yet. Those drops of colostrum could be very helpful in that situation!

There’s this Russian method that always cured my congestion when I could barley breathe, you basically boil a huge pot of water with about 6 garlic cloves and 5 dried eucalyptus leaves, then you put the pot on the floor, tie your hair back, put you head over the steam and cover yourself with a blanket(make sure most of the steam stays in the blanket) and then breath in as deeply as you can for like 5-10 mins. Worked miracles for me

Dusting ceiling fans off, ceiling corners, base boards and hard to reach shelves, as well as cleaning under beds and couches, and using an air purifier help to alleviate some of my congestion making my home a bit more breathable since dust and allergens in those places are hard to reach and often overlooked during regular cleaning! You could also try renting a carpet cleaner (Home Depot rents an industrial one for super cheap) and shampooing your carpets and even your mattress can also help, especially if you already have allergies or you have pets! Hopefully that helps 💗👍🏼 good luck!!!

I had terrible congestion when I was pregnant and it’s so different from regular congestion. Your nasal passages are inflamed and narrowed. It’s not like there’s a ton of snot blocking them. I tried nasal strips and I genuinely think they helped but like you I have SENSORY ISSUES and could not deal with it! Messaging nasal passages on the face helped a little, but the miracle was actually stretches for congestion. I just looked it up on the internet and it doesn’t work for long but it gave me short breaks so I could feel sane for a minute. Sometimes I did them 6-7 times before I finally went to sleep.

Put some in a diffuser or in boiling water and just smell it and do it again and again and again, it gave me so much relief. Praying that you see this, try it out and that it helps you get some relief because you are dealing with so much during your pregnancy and I really wish you well

The congestion must be so uncomfortable and bothersome 😩 As someone who suffers from allergies 24/7, I recommend anything with menthol and eucalyptus. Vicks nasal spray, albas oil sticks or vicks vapour rub on a tissue/handkerchief, anything that you can carry around with you for when you need it. Eucalyptus in a shower. I’ve found this helps with headaches too. I wish I could help you more. I know it’s not a long term solution but they might help relieve the congestion when it is especially bothering you. I hope it eases up for you in any way possible. Sending you lots of well wishes and love 💕✨

Just a thought...do you have any food sensitivities? Often, I found that when I was pregnant I was more "reactive" in general and any foods that I was slightly reactive to. Some of them were cross-reactive with environmental allergies and I would get MUCH more sneezy/congested/allergic until I cut out those foods. (for example This is called cross-reactivity. Food such as cantaloupes, bananas, watermelon, and sunflower seeds may cause symptoms in some people who have a ragweed allergy.) So, for me those are gluten, eggs and dairy and soy. I found that once I was off those foods for a while, like a month, I started to have a LOT less allergy symptoms. And, of course any other allergies (dust mites etc) can be worse when you are pregnant, so dealing with those the best you can trying to eliminate them where possible is a good idea. Run air purifiers, use homeopathic antihistamine maybe? And definitely check into any possible food allergies. A simple blood test can give you some idea about the main foods you eat, even a mild food allergy could (if you are eating that food a lot) trigger a wider cross-reaction sometimes. Wish something could help you! You are brave and strong and have a good team around you. Keep it up!!! Every day is one closer to the end of the pregnancy, and meeting your babies.

I’m 20 weeks pregnant with twins and also have this horrible congestion symptom. In normal life I already have terrible allergies and am always super congested but now it’s like times 20. I have the same problem you talk about with feeling claustrophobic in your own head and the eyes start itching and watering. I also keep getting really bad sinus infections and horrible sinus headaches. But to help with mine I take 2 Benadryl at night which also helps with my insomnia as well as my congestion. If it’s really bad during the day (and this sounds gross) but I ball up some tissue enough to fit and fill up my nostril to like completely close it off. I put the tissue in the nostril that’s more congested and once it clears up I repeat in the other nostril. Some times I have to go back and forth for a while but once it clears up it helps big time. I also use Vicks Vapor rub on my chest and under my nose and get under the covers to let it activate.
Thank you for being so real about what your’re going through and how you feel. I’ve also been very depressed, emotional, and in a lot of pain during this pregnancy and watching your vlogs helps because it reminds me I’m not the only one. And a lot of people don’t understand and I didn’t either until it happened to me, but carrying 2 babies is no joke at all. It is so hard physically, emotionally, and mentally. So again thank you for sharing your journey!!

For congestion!! I know you posted this video yesterday and might not see my comment but for me is rubbing vicks vapo rub on the chest and neck help sooth that breathing area. Another method that's super effective for me (since nasal sprays and those things don't work for me either) is to boil a pot of water, add a couple drops of eucalyptus, make yourself a little cave using a towel or blanket over the pot and just breathe in the soothing vapors for a while. ALWAYS worked like a charm for me and my family. Hope you feel better

Hey Colleen! I'm so so so sorry that you're feeling the pregnancy congestion this early! I know you go to a chiropractor and physical therapy for your pelvic pain, and you have so many other doctor/medical appointments, but I think there might be another type of doctor visit that would help!
You can get osteopathic manipulative therapy (OMT), it's also called osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM), from an osteopathic physician (DO). My hubby is an osteopathic medical student and he learned a bunch of techniques for relieving facial pressure. It's not the same as chiropractic care, but it feels similar. The doctor might also be able to give you techniques for massaging your face at home to relieve your pain.
I really hope you can find some relief for the next few months!
Lots of love to you, Erik, Flynn, and the new babies! 💗💗💗

I have chronic rhinitis and I'm 15 weeks pregnant. I use peppermint oil infusion(steam bath) and saline nose sprays. They're both safe in pregnancy! For the peppermint infusion, I add a few drops of pep. oil to a bowl of hot water(I make sure to bring it to a boil), then cover my head with a bath towel while leaning over the bowl and sit there for about 10 min or so. It might get intense at first so you can move your head higher up if it gets too minty. Just keep your eyes closed! It'll eventually dissipate and you'll be able to taste and smell when it's working :D I used to put it in my tub before, too, but haven't researched if it's safe to do so while pregnant... Hope it helps!

Your congestion is from the high amount of estrogen in your body. And then the swelling traps allergens in your nose so you get even more sneezy and congested. Tips for stuffy face: anti-inflammitory foods as much as possible (mostly colorful veggies, not so much meat or processed things). It helps take swelling out of the body. Also, lymphatic massages around the neck and face. TH-cam has a lot. They're a temporary fix, but requires little energy and your husband can assist.
For your restless legs and cramping, consume foods high in magnesium (the colorful and dark greens that are also high an antioxidants/anti-inflammatory).
I hope any of this is appealing or helps! As little babies grow and use their mother's nutrients, you will be left with deficiencies which cause cravings. I recommend looking at a craving correlation chart (Google or pinterest) and see if anything makes sense for you.
I love watching your vlogs on all channels and was obsessed with your Miranda Sings series. Best of luck to you!!

Hey there, for the nasal congestion it is not going to be possible to get rid of it, all of the things you listed are ways to treat the symptoms and provide some relief, if it feels like its not working its probably just because you are so congested and annoyed from being congested it feels like nothing will make it go away. Since is brought on by pregnancy and your increase in blood pressure, the blood vessels in your nasal passages constrict and become inflamed. I am not a doctor, just work in prehospital care as an AEMT. Most of the medications out there work to treat the reaction to an allergy but that isn’t the case for you so the only thing you can do is to find something that provides relief.
The only thing that really works for me is one of those face steamers, directly shooting hot steam up my nose and I using a gua sha to massage my sinuses and lymph nodes. I also use Vicks vapor rub RELIGIOUSLY everywhere.

You got this i know it doesn't seem like it now but you do. You both are amazing parents never forget that. And colleen we love you💜I'm so sorry you are this miserable. If i could take all your pain away i would. That's just the kind of person i am. My depression has been really bad too so i feel you. The clips of you crying has been me the past few days and I'm not even pregnant. I've just been so emotional lately and it sucks. But just remember we love you and you will get through this.

Also if you have your milk coming in, you know you can do colostrum harvesting? Basically you start collecting milk early and freezing it... you have to be careful to not express but if you are leaking collect that golden liquid in a little syringe and freeze it!! It will help so much with the twins in the beginning! Also you'll be surprised at the stash you'll have by the time those babies are here 😊

Yes!! I did this when I was pregnant. Haakaa makes colostrum collectors that you can use and freeze for when the babies come. So helpful for the first few days or just whenever you may need it in the future for the baby!

I wish I would have done this with my son because it would have helped him stay out of the NICU for low blood sugar before my milk really came in. If there's ever a next baby I'll keep this in mind!

Its not reccomended until later - around 37 weeks in a single baby pregnancy so probably 33ish in a twin pregnancy.

for some reason the shot of Colleen playing with the ping-pong balls, Flynn beside her, the jumpsuit on, the twin pregnancy bump proud, I was like "wow, she really looks like a mom here!" You look beautiful Colleen! We love to see you having these happy moments!

This won’t get rid of congestion but it often helps to wear the cold gel pads on your face to ease the puffy dry feeling x
