    You can get an unflavored protein powder that can be put in breads or pancakes or waffles or soup. It’s super helpful to slip in some extra protein.

      I was going to recommend putting protein powder in smoothies and shakes too. They have some amazing flavors out there.

    You know how when kids don’t want to eat their veggies, you can hide them in food? Do that with the food your craving! If you’re craving mac and cheese, can you put chicken in your mac and cheese for protein? Or put extra meat and veggies in your chili? Or put protein powder in your cookies that you make? You’re a super creative person and I think that you will for sure come up with awesome recipes by doing this :) best wishes Colleen, love you queen!!!

      I sprinkle chocolate protein powder on top of peanut butter spread on a rice cake! Rule1 protein is really yummy and doesn't have any chalk taste or anything. Chocolate fudge protein mixed with almond coconut milk blend is a literal almond joy and its amazing

      Or do hidden veggies Mac and cheese. Put some squash, carrots, and cauliflower (I think) and of course cheese and other regular mac n cheese ingredients.

    Colleen, I have boy/girl twins too and I literally skipped out of the hospital after my c-section because the pain of recovering from major abdominal surgery was NOTHING compared to being pregnant 😂 Twin pregnancy is no joke. Mine was awful in completely different ways than yours is, but I too (along with literally EVERY TWIN MOM I KNOW) got gestational diabetes--the hormones in the 2 placentas almost guarantee it, even if you don't have a single other risk factor. I remember sobbing to my doctor about it and asking if I had diabetes now, and he was like "No 😂 It's called gestational diabetes for a reason! If you had normal diabetes we'd just call it diabetes!" I honesty think twin moms are the only other people who really understand what you're going through. You're doing an AMAZING job!!!!!

    Non-Meat Protein Foods 💖:
    -Eggs (6g per egg! Protein is mostly in the whites)
    -Greek Yogurt (23g per cup!)
    -Cottage Cheese
    -Tofu
    -Lentils
    -Chickpeas and Beans
    -Hemp Seeds
    -Oats
    -Nuts/Nut Butters
    Obviously double check that you can have these when pregnant 🙏🏻

    For your high-protein foods do you like eggs, black beans, turkey or pistachios? Those are all high in protein and I believe broccoli is as well maybe those foods could help

    Colleen, I think the “if I don’t crave it I can’t eat it” is an ADHD thing because I have that with motivation for different things. I think there are probably ways to add unflavored proteins into your existing diet! It makes sense that you feel the way you’re feeling!

      That's a good point. I have ADHD too, and my husband will ask me what I want for dinner tomorrow, and my answer will be "I have no idea. It's not tomorrow yet."

    I had gestational diabetes and felt like such a failure when I'd check my blood sugar. It was so upsetting to me. It's sad seeing you feel that way because looking back I know I did nothing wrong, it's just one of those random things that happen. Just by testing and listening to your dr you're doing great. I found it so difficult to change my diet, but I started by researching low GI foods and picked ones I thought I could handle. Just take it easy and do what you can, and fingers crossed you don't actually have it.

      Congrats. I would have been 36 weeks this Friday, but I had my baby girl this last Saturday. I am so lucky she is doing well and we are heading home tomorrow.

    The craving of certain foods and not being able to eat anything else is related to ADHD! I struggle with that too, and I always felt like a brat until I realized it was literally a symptom. It’s basically the same as hyperfixating on an activity or a song, but instead it’s a food!

    A little tip for Erics recovery fromt he teeth removal: since you said that he is "going to be in bed a lot" i just wanted to tell you that my first time i got my wisdom teeth removed (left side) i layed in bed a lot which led to a lot of swelling and swelling in the mouth/teeth area=a lot of pain. So what i did the 2nd time around for my right side removal, i built myself a little throne/fortress with literally like 15-20 pillows in my bed so that i could "lay" in an upright position in bed (I also slept like this for the first 3 nights like a creep xD) which helped me so much and i had barely any swelling and pain the 2nd time around! :) Wishing Eric a fast recovery and greetings from Germany

    Colleen or Kory whom ever reads this I am a type 2 diabetic and had gestational diabetes while I was pregnant with both of my pregnancy’s. I eat a lot of overnight oats. That is a meal you can fix so many different ways to give you protein and stay within your carb numbers help control your sugar levels. I even take it to work to keep my energy up. Hope this gives you an idea for your diet to improve your health for you and your little angels in your tummy.

    Eggs are amazing when it comes to supporting pregnancy if you can handle them - I personally craved them nonstop when I was expecting. Burgers are a great source of lean protein if you get them from strictly grass-fed cattle and if it's all you can tolerate, add an egg as a filler for an extra protein boost (not to mention the omega from the yolk is great for brain development in a fetus). I had the privilege of having access to fresh beef liver from my parents' farm periodically (hello iron) and found that putting it into a stew was tolerable when I was struggling to keep my iron levels, well, level while preggers. I also drank a decent amount of meat broth to help give me a boost whenever I was having days where I was nauseous and wanted nothing to do with food (sipped hot from a covered travel mug so the appearance doesn't tip me off). I understand that these suggestions won't work for every expecting parent since every pregnancy is different, but it's what worked for me. I hope this helps, you're doing great! ❤

    Colleen, you should not feel ashamed of talking about your pregnancy. If pain is a part of it then that’s what it is for you and that’s ok. If you need to let it out we are here to listen. I personally love listening to you talk no matter what the topic is sad, happy or anything else it doesn’t matter. You help me to put my life in to perspective. You are so entertaining, inspiring and strong keep being amazing. 🥰

    Lentils are wonderful - high in protein and rich in iron and could really help! Lentil curries or dahls, or even blend them into soup! Lots of beans -- you can make tacos, chilli or add them to almost everything! Plant based protein might be easier to stomach if you are not feeling like eating animal products. I have some trouble with iron defiency and I never feel better than I do after I've had a huge bowl of chickpea curry or hearty chilli! 😊

      Once we only had a bag of dry lentils, a few slices of bacon and a few carrots. We chopped up the carrots and bacon and threw them in the instant pot with the dry lentils and water. It was the best!

      As someone who grew up pretty vegetarian because I didn't like meat when I was younger, my mom got proteins in me through kidney beans, black eyed peas, paneer and different nuts and seeds

    There's a brand Quest and they have bags of protein chips and they're actually really good! My favorite flavor is the sweet chili ones😋 They have like 19g protein per small bag! Might be worth a try!!!

    Thank you! I just failed my 1 hour test and I was so bummed with myself thinking it was my fault. Thankfully, the internet came through for me and hearing you say that you’re in the same boat makes me feel so much better. I’m doing the 3 hr test on Thursday and hopefully it comes back normal.

    I’m the exact same way with eating!! One thing that really helps me not feel nauseous and helps me crave certain foods is just looking at pictures of that food on Pinterest. Something about seeing that food prepared in different ways just makes it more appetizing somehow!

    If you’re craving something sweet but need protein, one of my favorites is blending a frozen banana, protein powder, a little bit of milk, cocoa powder and peanut butter (optional). It has an ice cream consistency and it’s soooo good.

    I had GD despite having a healthy diet, going through medical school, and having midwives as mentors. My morning glucose spiked high and there was no supplement or dietary change that brought it down enough so I had to inject myself with insulin. Sometimes it’s not in our control. Please be easy on yourself! I wish someone told me that during that stressful time in my pregnancy.

    I’ve had all four wisdom teeth removed and had a super easy time. What helped me is that after the extraction, I spent the whole day icing my face, an hour on each side. I took Advil to avoid my face swelling and for inflammation. Then avoid too hot or cold foods to not get dry socket and just eat liquids for a week :)

    Omg, when you started talking about only eating things you crave really helps me. I'm a really difficult eater and I just moved out and now I'm living on my own to go to college. I'm really having a difficult time and eating is stressing me more out then ever!

    I am 35 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I am SO DONE. Its so refreshing to see another pregnant person talk realistically about how awful pregnancy is rather than just telling me to enjoy it like everyone else in my life! I am soooo grateful and thankful for this baby and so excited to meet her - but my body is done. I can’t breathe, walking is hard, I’m so sick, I am so miserable and all I want is for her to be in my arms safe. Pregnancy is so hard and so isolating. Grateful for these vlogs!

    Colleen, I feel the exact same way about eating and I always have! If I’m not craving something I have no appetite for it and it’s almost repulsive to me. I can be starving but if nothing sounds “good” or I’m not craving something it’s almost impossible for me to eat.

    When I was around 19 I got diagnosed with celiac disease so I had to change my diet drastically and suddenly be over the top careful about everything I put in my body. I was similar in the sense that I struggled so hard to eat food I wasn’t in the mood for. But as soon as I got diagnosed, it was so easy for me to go completely gluten free and I’ve never slipped up for the past 6 years! For me it was because I was so sick (hospitalized in the ICU in organ failure) from my celiac that it wasn’t even a question about changing it. For you, I know it’s not quite that drastic, but using your health and your babies health as the motivator to change your diet can be incredibly helpful. I still get nauseous eating foods I don’t want but knowing I’m nourishing my body in the right way helps me to do it. I know it’s frustrating, especially cuz I know you mentioned sitting down and eating the food your craving is one of the few things you’re able to enjoy during pregnancy. But also remembering this is only temporary can be helpful. Knowing my diet change was a lifelong thing meant i had to change my entire mindset. Focus on the reason you’re doing it and that in the grand scheme of things it’s short term and for the best! Do positive affirmations. It sounds ridiculous but just talking yourself through a meal like, “I am enjoying this food. It is nourishing my body and the babies bodies.” As you’re eating can have a positive impact!

      the thing about celiac is you dont really even have to change your diet considering how many copycat foods are out there

      @@rubyyy325 I have celiacs as well. There are a lot of copycat foods but a lot are not healthy. But like going out to eat doesn’t really happen anymore. Most things are cross contimated, you have to eat at home 95% of the time. The places that say they have gluten free stuff are for people that are choosing to avoid gluten and can afford the cross contamination. Also the gluten free food doesn’t taste the same. The breads and pastas are really different, sometimes gross. It is a hard adjustment to make, not impossible but not necessarily fun if you do it in a healthy way.

      @@Angelamarie55 i JUST found a GF pasta that actually tastes good and has a good texture, and it holds up when cold (idk if you make cold pasta dishes ever but noodles are usually so hard and gross that way). If you can find them near you, Taste Republic GF noodles are the best I’ve found. I can’t do corn either so it took me forever to find a good one that didn’t have corn!

    Colleen! I have ADHD too and it's hard for me to eat meals unless I really want to eat what I am eating. I am a speech language pathologist and one of our area's is working with people with swallowing disorders. If a person has issues attending to a meal (like people with ADHD) it can be hard to find the motivation to eat that less desirable option. I hope this helps you understand what may be going on. I'm personally still working on figuring out how to combat this at my own meal times, but I find that if I mix a little of what I want to eat with what is best for me it gets me to eat more of the later.

      I have a swallowing disorder and until recently I was only able to eat very few calories a day, fatigued all the time, it was a nightmare. After the proper help and medication it's like night and day. Eating issues are soo challenging.

    I’ve just had surgery and the whole food thing you’re talking about, I can relate sooo much!!! I’m so stressed about eating, I can only eat what I crave and it’s so frustrating!!! 😫🤣 I’m watching you eat pickles and wiiiiiishing I could just eat some pickles haha! I wish you the best Colleen, but I am with you right now (just not pregnant, just very sore and in pain from surgery haha!) 🥰🥰🥰

    I’ve had to figure out how to add protein to my diet due to nausea/lack of appetite.
    Best way for me was to get Shamrock brand vanilla protein shakes. They have 30g of protein and just taste like vanilla milk, no icky protein taste. I use the shake in fruit smoothies instead of milk and can easily stomach it. Hope this helps!!
    Edit: the shakes are also low in sugar, so that might help with the gestational diabetes.

    my mom actually had gestational diabetes when she was pregnant w me!! she said it literally only lasted until she gave birth, and right after she had her c-section her blood sugar was low again. she’s now perfectly healthy and u probably already know but just to calm u down it’s a normal thing to have, and it’ll soon be in the past. u have no idea how much support u have rn colleen, i hope the rest of ur pregnancy goes well and ik ur twins will be beautiful and will have such an amazing momma and family.

    IF your blood sugar level is high, then food cravings become even more intense. It's a frustratingly ironic and vicious cycle! Increasing protein and reducing sugar intake will help, but it takes a couple of days for those cravings to subside. YOU CAN DO IT!

    I drink the fairlife protein 30g shakes because I had the same issue with protein. It was super hard to force myself to eat. I’m now near the end, and thankfully I’m doing okay with proteins again but for 3/4 of my pregnancy I hated meats!

    I'm going to keep suggesting an SI belt for your pelvic pain. It helps stabilize your pelvis so the tendons in the middle of your pelvis don't stretch as much and helps with pain so much!

    I'm 39 and had my wisdom teeth out earlier this year. it wasn't as bad as I thought. still sucked but it wasn't horrible.
    make sure to have some jello made the night before. lots of rest and fluids. hugs to you both!

    COLLEEN! I’m type 1 Diabetic and I’m the same way where I can only eat food I crave. What I do is always have the food/snacks that you know you will almost always be able to eat. Just have it around so when you are hungry or want a snack you can have it. Something really helpful with the diabetes aspect is carb free foods. Most cheese, meat, and eggs are carb free so they won’t affect your blood sugar levels. I know not the biggest fan of those things but look up other carb free foods and see what you think you could stomach most of the time. Hopefully this was helpful ❤️ love you!

    I started doing this thing, where when I’m hungry, I start looking at photos of foods that I want to be eating (like chicken, etc), so like look at photos of cooked chicken recipes and stuff, so I start craving it 🥰 I hope that helps!!!
    Also, that Flynn giggle was THE CUTEST

    I had GD and it was because my placenta was not producing insulin soooo it’s not because I did anything wrong or eat unhealthy. It was horrible having it but you get through it ❤️

    Hi hun, I became a diabetic after a major surgery. I totally understand your worries about feeling like you’ll be “failing “ if you get bad numbers. But-please be patient with yourself, it is very tricky to get the hang of! And you have also been craving the fruit this pregnancy, which can definitely make the blood sugar spike. Take it one day at a time like you’ve been doing and don’t beat yourself up. I still don’t always have my sugars under control after years of living this life. Take care! 😊

    I also have ADHD and I totally experience the same thing when it comes to food and only really being able to eat what I have a craving for (same goes for another friend of mine who also has ADHD). For me I think it’s because of my difficulty making decisions (which is part of impaired executive functioning in ADHD), as well as sensory sensitivities. Texture, taste, smell, and even sight can all make me feel nauseous depending on what food is in front of me or I’m trying to eat. Sometimes I even start to feel this when I’m halfway down through the food and it all of a sudden is super unappealing and if I try to keep eating it I feel queasy or gag. Intuitive eating has really helped me when it comes to eating or finding ways to transform foods so the sensory component isn’t so intense (like cooking a vegetable different or adding meat inside of a dish rather than by itself).

    Tasty smoothie recipe:
    8oz milk (use soy for protein!)
    Handful spinach
    Chocolate protein powder scoop
    A banana
    Big glob of peanut butter (more is ok!)
    Good handful frozen blueberries
    Several frozen strawberries
    Blend everything together except the banana and frozen fruit. Add the banana in one chunk at a time, blueberries all together, and one strawberry at a time. Should be kinda purple when it’s done!
    Frozen fruit is in place of ice, so adjust the amount to your liking.
    If left out for awhile it will oxidize or something and turn kinda brown, but it still good to drink.

    When my mom was pregnant with my siblings and I (we're triplets), she was heavily nauseous every day, and literally all she could get down is the Rice Krispies cereal. She was basically put on bedrest from the moment she and my dad found out they were having triplets, and by the time she was in labor she was so used to all of her symptoms she just had as she describes as a little bit of back pain and she didn't even know she was in labor! Anyways, I wanted to share this story because pregnancy is hard for a lot of people, but the people who have to birth and raise multiples are literally the strongest people I know. I still don't know how my mom did it all. She is literally superwoman, and you are too! Good luck!

    I was gestational diabetic for both of my single pregnancies. It was rougher on the 1st pregnancy than the 2nd, but I made it through. And neither of my kids nor I have developed diabetes.

    Add ground flax to everything! It's a great way to sneak in some plant based protein to things like yogurt or smoothies or salads, mixed into burgers or oatmeal and so much more.
