I love your positivity with feeding your babies and how everyone does it differently!!! Me and my bestest friend (my godson's mumma) fed completely different for different reasons but they both got fed and are fantastic children now and are both incredibly smart and beautiful!!

My baby is a “Half and half” baby. I breastfeed most of the time, but I don’t produce enough to pump extra, so he gets formula as a supplement, and it works for him

Same my baby is breast fed while I am at home. When I go to work normally I can pump enough for 1 or 2 bottles and the remainder while at work are formula
Okay so it feels like everyone is/ becomes at least a little lactose intolerant because genetically it’s a rare-ish mutation to NOT be lactose intolerant. Pretty much back when humans were hunters and gathers we drank breast milk as babies and then never drank milk again because we didn’t have cows. So our body figured it doesn’t have to waste its energy on making the enzyme that breaks down lactose once we’ve hit a certain age. Now, for most people, our bodies are still wired to do that so most people become lactose intolerant. Those who have the mutation, which is passed down through generations, do not become lactose intolerant. This is also why Asian and other cultures who have less dairy products in their diet have more issues with lactose. It’s just genetics!
Or simply cows milk is meant for cows. Its what makes them grow to be a 1000+lb adult cow. When given to humans it creates all kinds of negative effects. It is overdriving the system. Humans are not meant to be 1000+lbs.
@@redizrad you do realize the milk we buy from stores is kinda very processed right? In no way shape or form do we drink the same milk cows drink that make them 1000+ lbs. Unless your drinking completely organic milk…

I love how you unapologetically stated that you are not asking for or needing any advice from anyone and you are doing everything exactly how your doctors and nurses told you to 👏👏👏 Good for you. Statements like that need to be normalized. Every mom should do what works best for them, period, end of story. Being a parent is already one of the most challenging things in the world, no one needs mom shaming on top of that. You are doing a great job, don't let anyone tell you any different❤

As a formula mama, I can say formula does smell HORRIBLE! My youngest son had soy formula too which made it even worse 🤢
Omg yes the soy formula reeks!
There are some formulas that don't smell- especially the European formulas like Holle and Lebenswert. But yea most of the US formulas stink!
Omg yesss mine drinks soy formula too but she started with The similac that has a purple lid and believe me...that formula smells worseee! So much so that my baby who smelled like it all the time, got the nickname croissant...because she smelled like croissant with cheese and just thinking about it makes me want to vomit😅

OMG. there’s a bottled protein shake by the brand “GHOST” and it’s cereal milk flavored! you should totally get one and compare the taste to your breast milk in a vlog 😂😂
I've never used or made formula, I am blessed with an oversupply and I exclusively pump (so well done for keeping pumping with twins superwoman!)
But I was reading about different formulas and why they are best for each stage etc and it was super interesting!!

My daughter was formula fed due to health issues I had after birth. A fed baby is a happy baby. It doesn’t matter how you do it, just feed them!

Thank you! I formula feed my baby because it worked best for us and with both our jobs. Still get shamed from some people for not breastfeeding my baby. This works good for us and my baby girl is perfectly healthy and happy!

On your body* because it gets sticky and smells when dried, from what I've heard.
But in your body is fine/ok or sometimes good.
It’s actually good to use breastmilk for things haha. I used some to help get sunscreen out of my eye and it helped so much haha
@@ulrikanilsson6395 it’s actually very good to heal the nipples when you breastfeed, you just have to put milk on the nipples if they are irritated and it will heal them
As someone with a dairy allergy I can confirm that although milk is a great source of calcium it’s pretty easy to get enough calcium without any dairy at all.
The got milk adverts were actually due to the power of the dairy industry, they said it was good for you to make you drink more as milk drinking figured were decreasing.

I’m have to take a couple different medications to keep me alive basically and I was so worried about getting crap because I chose to formula feed. After I had my daughter a few months ago, when the lactation came in and asked me what I wanted to do, I started my rehearsed nervous answer. She stopped me and said “Don’t explain yourself to anyone. I fed, loved baby is all that matters.” It was so nice to hear that. The pressure to breastfeed can get insane. I definitely wish I could have though.
Okay but have you and Jessica tried each other's breastmilk to see if they taste different/better than the other? That might be fun for a vlog video or something.

This story INSPIRES me. Moms are rockstars and breastmilk is literally life saving
Colleen is such an awesome ambassador for mammas and parents of all kinds 💞 it’s so amazing to hear her endorse whatever is right for you and your baby. Fed is best! Bottom line, the most important thing is that babies need to eat regardless of where it comes from. It doesn’t matter what is considered “ideal” when it’s impractical for you or your baby for whatever reason. I’m happy that she’s open, honest, and unapologetic about how she cares for her children 🥰 Lots of love to all the people out there feedin’ babies :)

I love how Colleen is so accepting of every form of feeding because when i had my first son i tried so hard to breastfeed and nothing was coming out and my boobs weren't doing what they were meant to which broke my heart so i am very grateful for formula
My daughter had that problem because of an infection in her womb - her milk dried up and she was really upset because she had wanted to breastfeed so much!

My daughter was a preemie, born at 22 weeks only weighing 20 ounces, and I had to mix breast milk and formula for her as well and I 1000% agree the formula made the breast milk smell HORRIBLE.

Yeah there's something about vitamins and other things that just smell *HORRIBLE* we feed our cats IAMS (our vet recommended it) and OMG it makes me want to vomit with how it smells. But the cats like it so eh.

Wow 20 ounces ! What a miracle 🤍 my family is always surprised that I was 3.5oz when I was born at around 32 weeks drop weight was 2.7oz . Then my younger brother was 2.5 drop weight 2.0OZ

FYI the sour smell is from the iron in the formula. It is released in a gas when it’s combined with air but yeah, it’s fun and it’s science.

Colleen! I love how you’re so chill about formula and breastfeeding babies. My body wouldn’t make more then 2 ounces. After a month I went full formula. I got mom shamed for it. It was hard because in my opinion my little boy is getting the food he needs, but people would be upset that he was on formula full time.

I wasn’t able to breastfeed my son (he needed something else that was prescribed by his doctor) but we tasted it before it dried up. Sweet lukewarm coffee was how we described it.

I agree, I was a newborn nursery nurse back in the 70s through to the 90s. Some women can breast feed and some either can’t or it doesn’t appeal to them. It’s the mothers choice. I found that women that wanted to breast feed were more successful than the ones that couldn’t or didn’t want to. I think you are so right that moms should just feed their babies in any way that they can! Don’t shame moms for formula feeding!
I agree - bottom line, momma and baby need to be happy and thriving. It's time we all drop the judgement about it.
I wanted to breast feed but my body would not cooperate…I fed my twins as much breast milk as I could but it wasn’t as much as I wanted… my kids turned out just fine!! No shaming anyone for how they feed their babies ❤️❤️
@@dallyahwd9517 I had a traumatic birth experience and haemorrhaged badly afterwards. My breast milk failed to come in. I had to forget my intention to breast feed but my daughter thrived on formula. I recovered and we went home after 8 days. Happy New year

I used to be a preschool teacher and started my time in the infant room- the best description we were able to come up with for the smell of formula is “rancid cheez it”

I feel like the smell of formula really depends on the brand. When I stopped breastfeeding we started using HIPP formula, and the smell is fine. Never bothered me, even the spit up smell. But that could also be because I'm used to the formula smell. My younger siblings all had formula

First time we fed our first baby formula, we called a family member who had bottle fed to check if the smell was normal because we thought it had gone bad

Fun fact: everyone is supposed to be lactose intolerant- but there is a mutation that humans went through a really long time ago that made them not lactose intolerant. So if you are lactose intolerant you don’t have the mutation
If you have blue eye’s you have a mutation.
If you’re lactose intolerant, you are WEAK and UNEVOLVED XD
And it's typically only white people that have the mutation. The theory is that it developed as a way to get enough vitamin D since white people originate from colder climates
