    If a pregnant woman falls, they need to be seen at the hospital. I fell while pregnant and the doctors asked what the mark on me knees were and they sent me in immediately. They worry about the placenta not working or being intact. Please get seen! It was a couple days after it happened and they still sent me. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Keep us updated!

    Also Labor and Delivery nurse here: any fall, especially where you landed so hard on your bottom, should be followed with a Kleihauer Betke test... Ask your OB...
    I'm happy to explain more. I love how much we all love this beautiful family! The Kleihauer-Betke (KB) test is used after maternal injury (falls, auto accident, etc.) to identify fetal blood in the maternal circulation caused by the trauma. KB testing can accurately predict the risk of preterm labor after maternal trauma. Whereas clinical assessment, alone, does not. I don’t want to cause any fear. When she commented that her fall was hard enough to leave such pain/bruising, it’s the first thing that I thought of, as it is part of the standard follow-up testing to any injury/trauma during pregnancy and is important in all cases of maternal trauma, even a fall. Especially where she has two placentas. I’m positive that her OB will advise her appropriately. She’s reported that she’s being monitored very closely! ♥️ So much love in this group!

    L&D nurse here: I don't know the extent of the fall you had, sounds like you managed to catch yourself on the way down and didn't have any direct impact to your abdomen which is good, but in general I'd recommend going to your hospital's L&D triage for some monitoring after any sort of fall or trauma. This is totally not meant to mom-shame or question your judgement as, like I said, I don't know the extent of your fall, but at the very least I would keep an eye out for any bleeding or fluid leaking, new or unusual abdominal pain, and monitor the babies movements to see if they are less than normal. You can also always call your local hospital or OB's office with any questions or concerns and they can advise you. This is probably not new information to you , but perhaps is to somebody reading this. I've seen a lot as an L&D nurse and I promise you it's better safe than sorry when it comes to these things. Congrats Colleen, you are doing an amazing job, these babies are very lucky to have you for their Mom!

      THIS! I have a friend who fell, she tripped over a shoe and had the most gentle tumble. She didn't hit her stomach at all. Next day she went to the hospital just as a precaution, and she had a placental abruption. If she hadn't gone to the hospital, she likely would have lost her baby. She said she felt cramping and felt "off" but she had experienced cramping before so it was a shock to her to learn of the abruption. Her baby is 3 now!

    In the US we have to refrigerate our eggs because they are washed before being sold in the market. This removes a protective outer layer on the eggs, so they have to be refrigerated to keep them fresh. A lot of other countries do not do this and so their eggs can stay at room temperature. The outer layer keeps them fresh. It’s just two different approaches to food safety, and it’s also why when you get farm fresh eggs they are typically not refrigerated.
    Also, I’m glad you are okay after falling! That had to be scary!

    • @emilyflavell1658
      @emilyflavell1658 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      It's not even food safety, America removes the outer layer of the egg so that the eggs are white. It's same with your cheese, Americans add colourants to cheese to make it that fluro orange colour. There's no benefit to either of these things

      The rule of thumb for eggs is: if you bought them in a refrigerated section- then they go back once home. So if you bought them at some farm stand - nope, they are okay on the counter but if you went to Publix, those babies go to the refrigerator.
      Most other countries other than USA, don’t have egg paranoia and just keep them out.

      Well Erik is from New England and then moved to CA and as someone whose family's from both areas, I will say that there are many areas where people do not drink soda (or lots of it). Actually, drinking soda regularly where I'm from is something that people who are poor tend to do a lot more than people who are well-off to rich who tend to buy lots of expensive things from places like Whole Foods. Not to say that richer people never partake, but the consumption level really is quite shockingly different if you look at socioeconomics.

I don’t put peanut butter in the fridge however putting peanut butter in the covert is a type of oil so it keeps it soft, it does separate after a while the oils that’s OK to still eat just need to give it A good stir.

    Only Americans need to put eggs in the fridge because they are prewashed before being sent out for sale. Prewashing them removes the cuticle layer that protects the eggs from bacteria. Most other countries aren’t as shallow about how their eggs look in the store, so the cuticle layer remains intact, meaning they are perfectly fine on just a shelf because they are still protected from bacteria. Also cold ketchup on hot fries is delicious. That’s why I keep my ketchup in the fridge :)
