    You're a man after my own heart, Alex! I love all these unique machines with specific purposes. For the last year, inspired by your videos, I have also been rebuilding industrial sewing machines both as a hobby and in the industrial laundry I have worked in for ten years now. Your video on the Singer 457 could be likened to a boy seeing a cool car in a magazine and instantly wanting one! I don't currently own a zigzag machine and am now looking to get a 457 in the white paint scheme, pre flat top. I just think they look awesome and I won't be satisfied until I have one! Keep up the great work!

    Thank you for your excellent communication and video quality. I have the 223R and Jukis in LS341. I bought them from nick-o-sew, an eBay seller, at a great price. Running tex135 bonded twist poly. You can go up to 12 ounces thick in leather if you set them up with a Servo and a speed reducer. Nice and easy, good job.

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      All right! Super cool! Thanks for sharing that. I find it interesting that you are using this machine with leather and 135 thread. I am thinking I might give a similar setup a try on this machine, Thanks.

    • @jmichaelashland6204
      @jmichaelashland6204 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correction - it's the Juki walking foot LS-341 that I babied with a servo and speed reducing wheel for leather. Not the Consews. But a similar set-up on that cylindar 223R would be a smooth operator for canvas and light leathers. Thanks!

    Can you do a video on how to adjust a binder attachment? Showing what problems you could have and how to adjust to solve those problems. Like when going around curves and the binding creeps to one side.

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the request. Working with binders is not nearly the no brainer that it first appears to be. There are companies that specialize in setting up machines for very specific jobs. i.e. +TennesseeAttachment There are just so many variables.

      @@AlexanderDyer That's where I did get my latest binder. I have a Consew 206-RB5. It worked great when I first got it, now it doesn't work any better than my $12 Chinese version. They said I could send it back and they would make it right, so that's what I'm going to do. I just wish the person that makes these things did an in-depth video on adjusting these for a perfect bind every time, and what the adjust when things go out of whack.

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the adjustments can be critical and rather subtle. The type of feet that are used are also important.

    Thank you for sharing so much throughout the years. One thing that caught my eye, other than the machine, was the way you folded that fabric to cut the bias strips. Do you think you could show your way of folding it in a separate video?

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the suggestion. I think there are lots and lots of those videos and so I am not sure I'm feeling it. If you search for something like 'making bias binding' I am sure will can find a dozen or so videos on it and be where you want to be way before I got one of mine made and up. By the way, That is how I learned it 😃

    Having the proper tools is always helpful. Binding is one task that I continue to have trouble getting correct. Usually with folding the corners on a continuous run.
    I'm not sure that I have room right now, but count me in for the giveaway. I'd be happy to make some space.

    • @AlexanderDyer
      @AlexanderDyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since you are looking to do mitered corners, have you watched Missouri Star ultimate binding video? It is clear, and easy to follow and she gets right to it without wasting time. The binder gives nice consistent results but I would not know how to miter corner with it. Maybe its possible but I either avoid corners or just run past, cut off flush and start in on the other direction.

    • @SilenceFriction1

      @@AlexanderDyer I just watched that video, and took note.
      I usually use pre-fab double fold binding on my projects, purchased in 10 yard lengths, and I apply without a guide.
      On a 90 degree corner, you have to pre-fold the miter on both sides of the fabric prior to placing stitches. Many times the underside miter becomes undone while progressing, creating a terrible looking corner.
      Also on thick edges (especially on curves), the binding sometimes shifts to the top side, and your stitch line is way off to the binding edge on the underside. I assume that patience and practice are necessary.
      I really like sewing my own projects/designs wp.me/pa9ORF-2k I wish that I had more cash to throw at this hobby. Many times I re-purpose materials to keep it affordable. wp.me/pa9ORF-22
      Thanks for the info.

      Oh Wow! Excellent! That looks awesome. thejasonofalltrades sews like that too, he might have some better ideas about that than me. I know that he uses regular office staples for challenging bits to hold things just so and then removes them once the sewing is complete. Thanks for sharing and keep up the get work.

    Awesome video Alex! This is something I have been looking all over the place and couldn't find any help. I have Cobra Class 26 machine and want to ad binding attachment, but hit the wall while trying to find a good way to attach any aftermarket binder. Cobra doesn't offer anything for that machine. Looks like your setup is exactly what I need. Can you please share the info on what and where to get (Binder and Mounting Plate like yours). Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks in advance, Andriy.
