Wow, I was considering purchasing one of these machines for canvas truck canopies new and repairs but with all the negative comments was reluctant and skeptical. But after watching your video I now understand what to expect. With a little fettling, that I can handle and a sturdier base, I was thinking of mounting it on a piece of pipe with a truck rim for a base so it can be moved around the shop floor. I just found you today. Great video! Thank you! That really helps a lot. You not only showed the qualities of the machine but how to use some of the functions. Since I know nothing about industrial machines it makes all the difference in the world when I can pick up any little bit to the entire process! I'll have to look at your videos to see if you go over the entire usage of the machine.
This info. is EXTREMELY helpful. I really like your machine. I want to look it up to see what kind of feed it is and bobbin capacity. I have a extensive handbag collection with mostly vachetta leather. I like to modify them to the way I want to use them and especially the straps. I have done some modifications by hand and also have used a local shoe repair, but would like to do them myself by machine. I could see myself sewing canvas for outdoor awnings, umbrellas and upholstery if I had the right machine and I would have to get rid of something to make space for it. I own 4 different machines for various purposes to domestic sewing and quilting. When I get to the end process of my quilting, my domestic machine can't really handle some of the thick multi-layer seams I do. I also sew a lot of denim that my domestic machines can do, but I think an industrial machine could handle it with ease. Thanks for sharing!!!!

Thank you man. I’ve been looking for a machine like this for seven years. I made hundreds of scabbards and holsters with my Tippmann Boss which I recently sold, going back to hand stitching, and hated the damn thing every time. I can hardly wait to get it in my greedy little paws.
Nice walking-foot machine! Really like the attachments as well. I have a Consew 206RB that I use for heavy nylon and canvas. I want to dabble in leather, but unsure about all the different leather needles and which is best for what application. Maybe do a video on leather needles & sizes, types of stitch they create, and different threads to use on leather. Nice video!

I've been sewing on a regular sewing machine from the beginning of time and notice that it was very difficult to sew leather that way it's gotten easier but not nothing like what you're doing. Great video Ryan. Perfectly explained and a great display of how this machine works. I have the Techsew 2700 with the flat top attachment. So far I have enjoyed my machine. The fold down guide arm is great, it definitely helps with keeping layers lined up. As for the laser, I've not had much us for it. However that could just do with the items I'm making. It is another good item to have on your machine. Only hang up I do have is not actually with the machine, more with support. Supporting a mechanical item with out seeing the machine can be a lesson in developing patience. My machine is presently having an issue with "back stitching" and hitting the same holes that were made during the forward sewing action. This issue happened after installing the speed reducer. I've engaged their support and they have been responsive and answered all the questions I have as well as giving as much instruction as they can with the info I've been able to provide them. I'm confident this will get resolved, it will just take time with the way their support model is setup, which is phone and email. If anyone has questions I'm happy to assist.

Would be great to know how you actually make money doing this along with things you need to take into consideration. I just took a look at the Techsew and it's 3500 bucks! That's a lot of bags being sold at a decent margin to pay for the sewing machine. Would love to see how you approach this. There are a lot of videos out there on how to make stuff. Very few on how to run the business side of things. Love your work!

OMG!! I love your video tutorial. I have been sewing garments for 51 years but really very much interested in sewing leather and vinyl handbags & other womens accessories. I just purchased a Brother Luminaire XP2 for almost 20k and very disappointed with the performance. I owned a Bernina &.Viking too. I am very interested in purchasing a industrial machine like Juki but after watching your video tutorial, I will consider your suggestion. Thank you for sharing.
I do car and furniture upholstery and I’ve done arm covers/head resta top stitches and French stitches with a flat bed sewing machine they come out decent but not perfect 😢 ! that cylinder head sewing machine is the perfect machine for those kind of stitches 😭 ! It would make those jobs faster easier & better looking !hopefully soon I can have one of those ☺️thanks for the video brother 👍 !

It’s an older Necchi 840-100 and comes with a rotating bindery attachment for binding seams on bags. Picked it up for less than $1000. I put a speed reducer and servo motor instead of the massive clutch motor it had and I’m very happy with it. I make pillows, bags, backpacks, desk pads, and other items. Get a used machine to explore to keep the entry cost low. Learn it. Then decide what sort of machine fits your needs. Most machines are very good at specific tasks. Most are not good at a wide range of tasks. It’s not like the home sewing machine, you now? We wish it was more versatile, but they’re not. However there are machines that sit in a sweet spot for doing a few different tasks. For me the Cobra 2600 or the techsew 2750 would be my next one. I want larger thickness, thread, and stitch capabilities. Best of luck!
Awsome Video! Just a Note: The needle position is done on the motor, which could be used on any industrial machine. A servo motor with needle position is only about $150 if anyone is thinking about it. Be sure to look up the wattage of the motor. Some are very weak, so very cheap. A 750 watt Consew CSM3000 is a good choice, IMO.

wow impressive machine. The heaviest leather i have used with my machine is upholstery leather. When i was looking for a machine i was wanting one i could use with the lighter weight leather but also for a bridle leather...but i couldnt find one at that time. We live in a area where there is limited resources. I think i have sewing machine envy

You don't have to turn your work...You can just turn the foot and needle. They are super cool.

I went through 3 different machines before finding out what I needed.Today i have an old consew 227 cylinder arm running #69 thread and a cowboy 3200 running #346 thread. Used machines do resell pretty easy on ebay.

She looks like a lovely old lady! Quick tip with rubbers I learnt: you can condition and soften them with silicone oil, but the stuff in tyre shine is usually way too thin. 200 CST (centistoke) oil is the stuff for the job!

This class of machine and a clone of a Sailrite LSZ-1 are a great combination to get started with. A good later addition is the Cowboy CB6900. Three is a nice number to have for a small business.

Great video Ryan. This helps a lot. I've always wondered if there was one machine that does the job. Questions: 1. How many Oz of thickness can this machine go through ? 2. How many Oz of thickness can the medium version (2700 I believe) can go through ? 3. Also, any plans of selling your Juki ? I primarily make wallets, journal covers, etc (small goods) and wanting to make bags in the future. Although I'm still a beginner and do hand-stitched, I'm wanting to enter the machine game soon.
Hey hey! The 5100 can sew through about an inch thick of material which is crazy! The 2700 or even the 2750 can do about 1/4 of that I believe. Techsew has some great machines at very reasonable prices.

Hmm I can sew the same thickness you are showing here with my 2700. Maybe I have been pushing it? I dont know but it does just fine even with 135 thread.

I sew leather on a 206RB5 every day. I use 207 bonded thread and a 22 needle.

I went through 3 different machines before finding out what I needed.Today i have an old consew 227 cylinder arm running #69 thread and a cowboy 3200 running #346 thread. Used machines do resell pretty easy on ebay.

@@chrisnixon2179 Hi Chris. Oh my gosh, that was two years ago, I don’t remember what came extra. I think it was a spool of thread and a couple of other items. Sorry.
She looks like a lovely old lady! Quick tip with rubbers I learnt: you can condition and soften them with silicone oil, but the stuff in tyre shine is usually way too thin. 200 CST (centistoke) oil is the stuff for the job!

This class of machine and a clone of a Sailrite LSZ-1 are a great combination to get started with. A good later addition is the Cowboy CB6900. Three is a nice number to have for a small business.

hum just looking at this gives me sewing machine envy? not sure i would ever say that out loud lol dont even sew i would like to do this but living in a RV full time not sure it would work out but i do love your work and soon i plan on buying a number of things, oh and great video's i have watched most of them in the last 4 days. Great video Ryan. This helps a lot. I've always wondered if there was one machine that does the job. Questions:
1. How many Oz of thickness can this machine go through ?
2. How many Oz of thickness can the medium version (2700 I believe) can go through ?
3. Also, any plans of selling your Juki ?
I primarily make wallets, journal covers, etc (small goods) and wanting to make bags in the future. Although I'm still a beginner and do hand-stitched, I'm wanting to enter the machine game soon.
Hey hey! The 5100 can sew through about an inch thick of material which is crazy! The 2700 or even the 2750 can do about 1/4 of that I believe. Techsew has some great machines at very reasonable prices.
And no plans to sell the Juki yet!

Hmm I can sew the same thickness you are showing here with my 2700. Maybe I have been pushing it? I dont know but it does just fine even with 135 thread.
