- Whenever a short cricket pitched ball was delivered to Richie Richardson, it was hooked off. His hook shots were remarkable as he never wore a helmet. He falls among the top ten hook shot players ever.
What a legend is the great Sir Richie Richardson!!! I remember his great knock against Australia in Jaipur during the 96 world cup. Excellent player!!! I am fortunate to have watched this legend play live!!!!
arun k That must an awesome experience mate .
That is his Last ODI
@@sundarprakash2000 last odi Vs Australia in 1996 semifinals at Mohali
@@sundarprakash2000 that is not his last odi. His last odi was against Kenya. WI lost that match miserably. Taking moral responsibility Richie Richardson resigned from International cricket.
@@MegaNarsinha Yes, he took retirement due to fatigue syndrome. Lest, he would played for 4 more years. Very unlucky to lose semi final by a slender margin.
Richards + Richardson = Nightmare 4 Fast Bowlers.
Yep and the great Gorden Grinidge, Des Hayns and the huge captain Loyad. Gone are those days.
Happy 60th birthday Richie Richardson!!!
I don't know where those days have gone. Now a days the pitches are looking like cement roads with no grass. The bowlers only left with pace.Even the red ball is reluctant to swing. This may be the reason behind many scoring huge runs in a single season.Only God can save the cricket(Old classy cricket)
Pitches are slow as well. Sometimes they do swing in places like Eng. but absolutely zero pace everywhere. Also now all over the world pitches look the same, let alone individual centres.
What are you talking about. In white ball cricket the pitches are flatter but in tests they are the same as they used to be.
At 2:42: What a great shot it had been, what a great player Richardson had been, and what a great commentator Henry Blofeld had been too .... Richie Richardson pulling and hooking fast bowlers with disdain wearing only a sunhat had been one of those great memories from '80s & '90s .... The game of Cricket has long lost this flair ....
Sir.Legendary Richie Richardson
Loves🌹 From 🇮🇳INDIA
The Windies were great during that era both in batting and bowling and ole Richie is one of them along with Haynes, Greenidge, Richards.
Many woud have succumbed to such fast bowling...fraction of a second.......out of the stadium
SIR RICHIE RICHARDSON
Iam indian iam big fain richi richerdson sir namskaar westindees we love u
Awesome West Indian cricketer who knew NO fear.
Nice guy to grace cricket
A gentleman cricketer who stood for great sportsmanship. nice to see how relaxing their styles were...
Great footage and one of the king's of the hook/pull shot.
Looks way out of character without a helmet though.
I remember him batting against South Africa with the likes of Allan Donald, he wore his trademark floppy hat with sunglasses, with chewing gum as well...
At a time he was the best westindies batsman.as soon as he get the captaincy his performance with the bat dropped
Kiwi Ambo Never saw him in a helmet .

Another Brilliant Upload Keep It up
Caption is wrong, he us wearing a helmet against a McGrath. In my opinion the first hook is the best of the lot. Perfect hook if there ever was one
Absolutely excellent player but after his knocks fit for captain at da same time ever cooperation team when started cold war between the team very very neat player 💪👍
Does anyone noticed he was a fantastic hooker early in his career. At that time he used to go back and across. After the helmet they all stopped going back and across so they are all getting hit in their faces and head. When you go back and across the hook is played with the ball over the shoulders. Watch Roy Fredericks and Grenidge. Today a pull shot is called a hook shot. A pull shot is a cross batted shot...pulling a ball off the body to the leg side. Whenever you miss the ball you get hit. The helmet is giving batters a false sense of security
Love him but after watching so many highlights of him I realize he was very easy to get out
Yes not wearing a helmet will really improve your hook shots 😂 he was amazing
great pullar and hookar
Lali pop ❤
Red hat Linux always
What you think them name him captain hook for I'm sure he wouldn't be too please with this bouncers rule . The best hooker in the game .

Well he faced much faster bowlers in the nets. 😂
Many of them are not Hook Shots
You don't know the difference between a hook and a pull.

Richie's technique was like he was about to smash every ball
