    This is a great video; all 8 tips are important. The last tip, dressing respectfully, should be a more common subject in etiquette videos and discussions. This also includes dressing for special occasions such as weddings, funerals, or going to a house of worship. I’ve seen too many people dressed like they’re lounging in their living room.

    Key points---
    Trick to maintain a good eye contact is to check if you are able to see their eye colour,try until you see it.
    One to disengage from eye contact first is considered weaker & submissive. To build power avoid disengaging first. Look in the eyes & imaginary triangle there.
    Dress for respect (take yourself seriously) , groom yourself.
    Hand gestures - open palm , steepling is super useful.
    Mirroring - their vocabulary especially (makes them feel they are being heard).
    Be an active listener , be genuinely interested in others(they have experiences that you dont have, its like a new learning opportunity).

    Hello, and thank you so much Jamila, another great and inspiring video.
    I would like just react about "mirroring".
    I am not an expert in body language at all, but personnally, I think that mirroring another person (especially in words) may show, on the contrary, a lack of personnality.
    We all have our words, our favorite and personal expressions, it's part of our overall signature.
    I remember a colleague of mine who loved using other's very personal words and expressions, as if he "stole" them, in a way. He began to use and re-use the word / expression, and finally we all noticed that it wasn't his genuine way of speaking. And he was laughed at, sadly.
    That's a bit extreme, of course. I really think that mirroring should be done in a very very subtle way, even in one simple and unique conversation.
    Greatings from France 🌹🌹🌹.

    • @janejordan1894
      @janejordan1894 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think mirroring happens naturally so that kind of mirroring is ok. You get to keep your personality while allowing people to feel welcomed.

    Thank you, Jamila, for sharing these valuable tips! I always learn a lot from your videos. The only part of the mirroring tip I would not use would be to mirror adjectives. If someone says "stunning," then I would not repeat that word and would use "beautiful" instead because repeating "stunning" feels too contrived, too parroted. However, using the same language to describe certain nouns, such as saying "issue" instead of "problem," seems like a great idea, especially when discussing work projects.

    Can you do a video about, zoom calls, women's makeup,and proper under garments! Women who wear no bras. Gossip and proper discussions. I also notice if you wear a necklace you do not wear earrings, I feel the same but many wear a ton of stuff, perhaps less is more as I always say. Where I live designer pocket books, shoes and beaded bracelets are huge, in a casual hot climate. Thanks again for your guidance. Men or women wearing hats in restaurants or church? Children's behavior in restaurants and public places with parents? I worked so hard on that and I see children that have no respect or manners. Color analysis has helped me greatly as well on male up and dressing! I also would love to know your thoughts on eating out, drinking, drinking too much and how to pay, split or get our own bill. My husband and I end up picking up the tab now because people start to expect it, then we end up babysitting a few grown classy people all night because they drink to much.

    I struggle with eye contact, it's not that I'm too shy to look someone in the eye, but for some reason my eyes unconsciously go to the lower triangle of the face even when it's not appropriate, and when I catch myself doing it I try to keep my gaze on the upper triangle but that causes me to completely lose focus from the conversation and what the other person was saying :/

    Yes and no to the "dress for the job u want". I worked my entire professional life around corporate/business types and the most successful ones wore the most casual (yes, sometimes very expensive) clothes, because they had nothing more to prove. We even joked you could tell who the assistants were in a room because they were dressed sharper than the CEO, they were trying too hard. Especially these days, after working from home for over 2 years, no one cares anymore, I see managers in shorts, cat t-shirts, boobs everywhere...

    • @marleyen
      @marleyen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Intentional / relaxed dressing preference mostly depends on one's personality. It's just that the dressing rules have changed and now allow people to dress how they truly want, so we finally see those who have always wanted to dress less fomal.
      Another rule that applies is the "poor people start to dress sharp - richer people make relaxed a trend", "lots of people start getting lip injections - richer people start valuing harder-to-achieve natural looks".

    • @JamilaMusayeva
      @JamilaMusayeva  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It has more to do with the mindset that you would like to have. If dressed in jeans you feel empowered, do that. But usually the sharper you look, the more confident and empowered you feel. Dress for the job you want means look like someone you want to become before you become that.
