    Hi, everyone!
    To everyone that's following this tutorial in Blender 4.1, here some things:
    1 - Shade Auto Smooth doesn't exist anymore, so you have to go to Modifiers (wrench icon) > Normals > Smooth by Angle and then you Shade Smooth
    2 - About the Shrink wrap, if nothing happens, try selecting Negative instead of Positive
    If I see more diferences throughout the tutorial, I'll edit the comment!

My old computer died, and I was hoping to restart this tutorial on the new one, but this kind of brings things to a crashing halt. You most likely forgot to go: Object > Apply > Rotation & Scale, before attempting to apply the Shrinkwrap modifier. If so, it may have been projecting along another axis due to any upstream rotations in your creation stack (for example, the cylinder for the lens had a -90 degree applied to it to get it into place - if so, you needed to project along z, not y).

    • @cgboost
      @cgboost  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The HDRI provides lighting for the scene as well as it shows in the reflections of the object (if you'd make some material perfectly reflective like a mirror it would show - a bit like in chromed parts of a car.) That's why it makes sense even if it is not used to show the object's surroundings. This is not the only way to provide lighting for an object but it is a simple and convenient one.

    • @cgboost
      @cgboost  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thanks for your question! Using shrinkwrap allows you to quickly project an object or a part of an object on another object. In many cases it's more precise and quick the moving the object manually, especially if you need it to be aligned to the surface.

    can you make a tutorial on how to plan an interior with strict dimensions. For example planning a campervan layout. Until now I couldnt find anything which really targets on how to create objects which have to have certein dimensions.... would be really cool and helpful!

      @@deepwaterattracted709 softwares like rhino should be better for this kind of modeling. Anyway as far as I know you can do that in blender too, there are many artists that do jewelry for 3d printing, architecture projects etc, so it should be totally possible. You have tools like overlays that tell you the precise dimensions of the elements, or the Measure tool.

    • @cgboost
      @cgboost  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It behaves like that due to the modifiers stack setup (the order of modifiers is important here. It is a combination of the Bevel, Solidify and Subsurf modifiers - it is calculated from bottom up so first it gets Beveled, then Solidified and finally Subdivided to get that smooth look.)

    9:35, may I ask why we need to loop cut? How is it increasing control resolution?

    • @cgboost
      @cgboost  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, this is helpful to have some more vertices to snap on the cup by using the shrinkwrap modifier. Since the cup is rounded, if we don't have that loop, the handle part snapped to the cup wouldn't have enough geometry to properly stick to the shape.

    hi there, a simply and quick one. Do we always need click the "apply" each time we have done set the modifier?

    • @cgboost
      @cgboost  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These no need to click apply in this context, in fact it's handy to keep the modifiers 'live' in case we want to change anything at a later date.

    Hello. Its a long shot asking but can you explain why when making the handle, pressing S + X + 0 resulted in the vertex alining?

    • @cgboost
      @cgboost  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you basically tell blender to scale the points to 0 using a reference point(this depends on what you have set as transform pivot point). Since you can't really scale the points, the result is that they align on the specific axis. I hope this helps you to understand.

    In 2:05, goes to wireframe mode doesn't include the X-Ray mode, that's one a little confused me, you need to change to X-Ray as well before selecting the faces for deleting.
