What happened to the move to eliminate daylight saving time?

  • In 2019, Washington state legislators nearly unanimously voted to eliminate daylight saving time, but the move needed congressional approval.
The state’s still waiting for Congress to act as most of the nation prepares to turn their clocks back an hour on Nov. 5. Clocks will "fall back" one hour at 2 a.m. on Nov. 5, granting most people an extra hour of sleep.
With the change comes earlier sunrises and nightfall well before 7 p.m. It won't be until March that we fiddle with our clocks to "spring ahead" once again.

Yeah, and it's based on a total lie like all stupid things that were enacted. "Ben Franklin did it to save money on lamp oil." That is absolutely the stupidest thing I've ever heard. So ole Ben spent half the year with his clock an hour different than everybody else's until the rest of the country saw how great it is? All you have to do is adjust your bed-time.

That is the reason they don't make DST permanent. Depression goes up, when the day gets shorter and darker earlier. Two years ago, the Senate passed a bill called the sunshine act I believe, it was to keep us on DST, Nancy Pelosi refused to bring the bill to the floor of the House. And it died there.

They keep saying get rid of Daylight Savings Time, but most people actually want to get rid of Standard Time. Daylight Savings Time is the time from around March until around November. The statements are polar opposites! The Sunshine Protection Act seeks to keep us ON Daylight Saving time, not to eliminate it.
