      Hello Amanda, I just finished the elemental diet and I was wondering if it's okay to take herbal antimicrobials? I would like to do a round of oregano oil before I retest.

      @@marcusa.6723 Hi Marcus, I replied to your other post, but the ED is supposed to be as effective as antimicrobials, so if I were you, I might test to assess my SIBO status before adding more treatment, it may not be necessary. Thanks for watching!

    Hi,
    Is bactrim ds a good antibiotic for SIBO? My doctor prescribed it for me as he suspects I have SIBO. I would love to hear your opinion.
    Thank you in advance.

      Hi Ahla, as far as I know, Bactrim is not typically used to treat SIBO. I usually refer people to Dr. Alison Siebecker's site for protocol specifics: siboinfo.com. Click the tab called Treatments. Thanks for watching!

    I took Accutane for 7 months after that I became very ill with digestive issues and constipation. I went to a doctor and they didn;t know it at the time I had a large gallstone and some small ones walked around with them 7 years before I had to have my gallbladder removed I think mine Sibo is caused by slow digestion unless Aaccutane did some harm to my intestines' or colon.

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi J, thanks for sharing your experience! Gallbladder removal can have long lasting impacts on the gut microbiome because of the role that bile plays in the gut, so I would guess that is more of an issue than the Accutane. However, accutane can also affect the liver, and medications in general can cause all kinds of side effects. Sometimes, it can be a combination of issues together that triggers a new health condition. Thanks for watching!

    Hello. Can you talk about Wormwood tea / dry form for diffident SIBO types please? Does it work for all?
    Also Barberry, Black Walnut extract, Oregano tea?
    Thank you in advance!

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Golden Child, wormwood is typically an anti-parasitic herb, though it may have broad effect. The same goes for black walnut. Oregano is an antibacterial used for SIBO, but usually, oregano oil is used, not simply tea. I would imagine that the potency of tea is nowhere near strong enough for a therapeutic effect. Berberine is the active ingredient in barberry, but the same thing goes for this, tea is usually far less potent than ground up and encapsulated or tinctured product.
      Usually, the herbal recommendatin for SIBO is to choose two from this list: berberine, oregano oil, allicin (garlic), and neem, and use at maximum strength for 4 weeks, then retest. For methane SIBO, you might also add the Atrantil product. See Dr. Alison Siebecker's website siboinfo.org for more treatment recommendations. Thanks for watching!

      @@ConfluenceNutrition wonderful, thank you so much! I’m gradually increasing the dose to see how my body reacts, so far so good. Wormwood before food seems to be great too.
      What about pumpkin seeds, do they help with SIBO?

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@goldenchild4409 They are also considered a parasite remedy, not really an antibacterial. I've never been sure why pumpkin seeds are supposed to have the property, but in any event, I don't really imagine they would provide a therapeutic effect without having to eat pounds and pounds of them!

    How do I know if I should take Betaine HCL or not? I don't know if I have low or high acid. I'm thinking of doing a ph test. That being said, should I stop taking Betaine HCL before hand?

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Elisa, the simplest option is to do the baking soda test, I describe it in this video, at minute marker 4:20: th-cam.com/video/nOeRQmS0HJI/w-d-xo.html A pH test for your stomach can only be done by a doctor. IF that's the test you'll be having, please ask your doctor whether you should continue using HCL before the test or not. Thanks for watching!

    What should I eat tu cure sibo

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pawan, there's no single right diet to eat for SIBO, and diet changes alone will not cure SIBO, though they can help improve symptoms. The answer to which diet is right depends on which types of foods are making your symptoms worse. For most people, it's a problem digesting fermentable foods, so the low FODMAP diet is often effective. Other possible foods that may aggravate SIBO include sugar, dairy, gluten, high histamine foods, and rarely, but sometimes oxalates. I have videos about these three types of diets on my channel, so check those out. Thanks for watching!

      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pawan, there's no single right diet plan for SIBO, but most often, the low FODMAP diet, the low histamine diet, or the paleo diet are helpful. It depends on what is causing your guts to react. I hope this helps!
