    Thank you for easing my mind and finding a place I can go to trust the information I am receiving. I am to happy to hear my GI doctor is mostly following your recommended protocol. Today is day one of the second round of rifaximin and first round with neomycin. I have been very anxious about neomycin reading all the potential serious side effects but ultimately decided to give it a try. My Dr. did not mention the prokinetic so I will need to follow up on that after my 14 day treatment. Wish me luck!

    Thank you! Interesting about the HCl! Amanda, do you know anything about Low Dose Naltrexone - LDN - for gut motility etc?

      May I ask? Are you taking it because of constipation? 😊

      Hi Kiki, I have a prescription for LDN. I had heard it was helpful for motility as a prokinetic after SIBO treatment, but my ND said that it has a much weaker effect than the other prokinetics I mentioned. In her opinion, it's just not strong enough to rely on for this purpose. I'm using it for joint pain, and it has really helped me.

      @@fredacharbel7510 I am not using it for constipation, as my ND suggested it tends not to have a strong enough effect for this. I'm using it for joint pain to good effect.

      @@ConfluenceNutrition amazing; thanks for letting me know! I'm also hoping it may help with depression and inflammation. I started .5mg today (they gave me 1.5 but I was advised to start slowly) in the AM bc I heard it can cause insomnia. Shall see!

      @@kiki-oh7hi yes, start low and go slow! It didn't cause insomnia for me, but very vivid and weird dreams for a bit. Good luck!

    Great info! I watched several other generic ibs ibd videos promoting carnivore diet and comment section has lots of people swear by it. Of course ibs is a broad umbrella but is the common denominator that the carnivore diet is simply a low sediment diet which can help whether it’s sibo, crohn’s or ucerative colitis or leaky gut?

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Essentially, yes, it's zero fiber, and this removes anything fermentable. The downside is it radically alters your gut microbiome, and this may not always be a good thing.

    My insurance won’t cover Rifaxin for SIBO-methane (49 baseline peaking at 40 min and 160 min, so I was prescribed Augmentum (amoxicillin 875 mg & clavulanate 125 mg) 10 days. Will this work? Will it destroy my colon microbiome

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know what the agumentin will do to you, but that particular antibiotic is not the same as rifaximin. Sometimes, doctors are willing to give you samples of the rifaximin to make up the whole prescription. You can also see if your doctor is willing to call it into the Canadian pharmacy (Mark's Marine Pharmacy) where the cash pay price is much lower.

      @@ConfluenceNutritionthanks for responding. If this doesn’t do the trick I will look into buying from Canada. Thankfully, 5 out of 10 days in I’m feeling much better like a switch turned on for energy, less burping. I’m taking enzymes and probiotics with it and a week after I finish the antibiotics I’ll start transition back to my plants, legumes and high fiber & low glycemic diet

    Do Low Carb or Keto diets exacerbate or lessen SIBO?

    • @ConfluenceNutrition
      @ConfluenceNutrition  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Giant Robot, the unfortunate answer is, it depends! Certain types of Carbs are often the source of SIBO symptoms, so low carb may be a good option. However, low carb diets are often a high veggie diet, or a high fat diet (keto). The high amount of veggies may aggravate SIBO, depending on what types of veggies, especially if they're high FODMAP. High fat diets may aggravate symptoms if you don't digest fats well, and excess undigested fats may further shift your gut microbiome.
      The question that you really need to answer for yourself is does a low carb or keto diet help MY particular SIBO. It might, and it might not. It's a reasonable hypothesis to test, and once you test it, you'll have your answer, one way or another. I hope that helps!
