I’ve noticed that screen technology has improved but when it comes to durability it’s seems to never pass a 6-7 on the scratch test, doesn’t matter if it’s new and improved gorilla glass technology, still the same and I have been seeing this for years.

I would've liked to have known that they utilized bio resin. I enjoy my pixel 5 anyway, but that would've earned some definite extra points in its favor. Based on my basic (freshly googled) information, it looks like bio-resin is generally reconstituted cellulose, similar to the various types/brands of viscose rayon. That would definitely explain why the acetone test didn't to anything. Something that you could maybe do in the future for other devices that are made of bio resin: do a burn test on a chunk that you've removed from the device. I would guess that it'd have a basic heat-resistant coating, but it should otherwise turn more to ash vs developing a hard, shrunken edge.
I think the websites were trying to say that the metal in it is 100% recycled, not that the whole phone is covered in aluminium. Tricky wording though.
Somehow I missed this physical test of the Pixel 5. I just purchased one, having made with a fairly correct guess of its materials and outer construction, from holding and weighing one in my hand. I am pleased both with my purchase and lucky guess. I added a gorilla glass screen protector and a Google case, to bring the Pixel 5 up to my requirements for grippable surface, thickness, and some surface protection to the disply, camera cover and fingerprint scnner. I'm lovin' it.
Technically those seem nitrile gloves. Nitrile gloves are the ones used in chemistry labs exactly because they do not dissolve with acetone and normal solvents.
I'm really enjoying my Pixel 5. First phone over $500 I've ever owned. It's very fast, twice as light as my old phone, a bit smaller which I actually like. But tall so reaching buttons at the top is awkward. Camera is fantastic, and when coupled with my gimbal it's truly cinematic. Wireless charging works with my eBay 10 dollar Qi charger I bought almost 6 years ago.

I think its awesome that they used a metal frame and added lots of plastic over it. So it probably is alot more drop resitant than other phones since the plastic is softer than glass or metal. Yes sure you will get scratches faster, but i bet it still works after years of dropping :-)
A little late but this was the least shock resistant phone i have ever used lmao. I dropped two feet on its back and the screen stopped working. Any cracking at all would cause the screen to fail aswell. I wanted to compare this vid to a new break down to see if the pixels have improved at all lol

I was aware before buying, but I guess when I read wireless charging and metal I wondered how. It looks from the video like the plastic is really tough. That's great for me as an outdoors person. Your point being? Acetone isn't conductive so won't create a spark. No spark = no ignition source. If anything it's an insulator.

I would've liked to have known that they utilized bio resin. I enjoy my pixel 5 anyway, but that would've earned some definite extra points in its favor. Based on my basic (freshly googled) information, it looks like bio-resin is generally reconstituted cellulose, similar to the various types/brands of viscose rayon. That would definitely explain why the acetone test didn't to anything. Something that you could maybe do in the future for other devices that are made of bio resin: do a burn test on a chunk that you've removed from the device. I would guess that it'd have a basic heat-resistant coating, but it should otherwise turn more to ash vs developing a hard, shrunken edge.

Somehow I missed this physical test of the Pixel 5. I just purchased one, having made with a fairly correct guess of its materials and outer construction, from holding and weighing one in my hand. I am pleased both with my purchase and lucky guess. I added a gorilla glass screen protector and a Google case, to bring the Pixel 5 up to my requirements for grippable surface, thickness, and some surface protection to the disply, camera cover and fingerprint scnner. I'm lovin' it.

I'm really enjoying my Pixel 5. First phone over $500 I've ever owned. It's very fast, twice as light as my old phone, a bit smaller which I actually like. But tall so reaching buttons at the top is awkward. Camera is fantastic, and when coupled with my gimbal it's truly cinematic.
Wireless charging works with my eBay 10 dollar Qi charger I bought almost 6 years ago.

I don’t know how you can look at this phone and want it over a Samsung or an iPhone, you want no scratches? Just get a case... it will literally offer the same protection. It’s so damn ugly, looks like a children’s toy or like they dipped it in bedliner.

I think its awesome that they used a metal frame and added lots of plastic over it. So it probably is alot more drop resitant than other phones since the plastic is softer than glass or metal. Yes sure you will get scratches faster, but i bet it still works after years of dropping :-)
A little late but this was the least shock resistant phone i have ever used lmao. I dropped two feet on its back and the screen stopped working. Any cracking at all would cause the screen to fail aswell. I wanted to compare this vid to a new break down to see if the pixels have improved at all lol
