Now that just about everything uses usb-pd I'm fine with the exclusion, I already have a chunky 100w pd charger (with 2 ports), a 30w small pd charger, and a 16w car charger with a handful of type c-c cables. Anything extra is just cluttering up a drawer somewhere
Not bad, I would buy one of these, I like the idea of changing the color of the back panel! Shame the battery isn't officially user replaceable, though I know I'd be able to replace it. If only this thing had a headphone jack and a charger included...

It's a real shame they didn't make the battery easily replaceable. Sure it's way easier than on most phones but they should have done that at least. I will never pick a phone because I can change the color of it although it's a nice feature.

I'm visiting in India and just bought one. The version they're selling here requires you to insert an Indian sim card to "activate" the phone. Presumably to avoid reselling for more in other markets. But once I'm through, this phone is rock solid! It's much, much snappier than my Pixel 4a 5G and the camera is not bad. It's nothing compared to my Pixel 9 Pro, but I'm not complaining. Makes a great travel phone and I can finally retire my 4a 5G
I'm a phone repairer, and on Nothing's defense, they have kept replacing the battery VERY easy to be honest. they probably just don't encourage it for everyone, because phone batteries have gotten wayyy better over the years, and people don't need to hot-swap a spare battery in like for cameras; and also for warranty issues.
The fact that it survived all durability tests is noteworthy. It's a shame about the lack of modularity for repair and upgrade but the low price tag still makes it an attractive choice for some users.

Here in Europe you can easily find phones sub 200 with oled+high refresh rate. 60hz oleds are at least 15 years old tech(I'm sure Samsung galaxy S4 already had an oled since I had one). This phone uses a subpar camera for the price range, a subpar chip for the price range, but has really good design and software so nothing for sure doesn't have the same margin as a 200 dollars Xiaomi/Samsung/Motorola/Oppo group phone just because they have for sure a smaller line and they clearly invested in design+ecosystem but no they are not losing money they build a pretty average phone for the price with some compromises to allow the fun gimmick.
There doesn't have to be many cut backs except for profits to make a good phone for cheap. I've been using the tank 2 for a year now. Perfect phone for me. So many features for 400 bucks.
100% right about lightning... most people dont know that lightning strikes upwards either.
Usually down first, then the big flash back up once one of the “feelers” hits ground.
He said Kilowatt hours of energy, is that correct?
@@quantuminfinity4260 👍 Seems backwards doest it. 😁
@@carlwest859 It can be in the order of megawatts, but capturing even a fraction of it is extremely difficult. Logistics and economics aside. You can charge capacitors fast, but even a truly massive bank has its limits and you start to run into all sorts of problems.
3 types of strike...
Cloud to ground
Ground to cloud
Cloud to cloud (mostly refered to as "heat lightning"
Next, the visible part is not the actual strike but the return. The "strike" happens when the pathway is created (there's the static feeling/tingling people get when about to be lit up). The visible bolt is the discharge through that pathway.

7:17 "and as we know, happy thermal paste ist the best thermal paste" had me rolling XD
A battery repair here is still significantly easier than most phone from the last 5 years, if you exclude the fairphones which cost multiple times as much. People will shit on it because that's what the internet is for, but I think this is a cool device with a lot of possibilities for 3D printed mods and at home repair.
I agree, having to remove a glass panel by heating it up and carefully cutting glue is the main thing keeping me from replacing my phones old battery
It doesn’t excuse the use of Illegal scare tactics by putting a label on it that says you can’t replace it.
Yeah I guess it is a pretty good, albeit small, step towards repairability. People probably at the potential it could have at having actual user removable battery at ~$200
@@quantuminfinity4260 nothing is a UK company and i believe there its allowed to have the warranty void sticker
@@quantuminfinity4260 - It's not an illegal scare tactic dude, it's the company just making sure they're covered if a customer fucks up when exchanging their battery, puncturing it and causing an explosion...
I attempted repairs and battery replacements to my phone by myself, and i kid you not, seeing this CMF 1 here, i believe it is by far one of the easiest, i mean it's just sticker, peel it off a bit and unscrew the screws and battery with its connector is exposed.. it is far far easier than any of the glass-back smartphones..
I miss having a charging brick with the phones
at least this one comes with a cable though, most newer phones seem to not include that as well
@@readers3895No I guess most recent phones have cables but not any charging brick .
Now that just about everything uses usb-pd I'm fine with the exclusion, I already have a chunky 100w pd charger (with 2 ports), a 30w small pd charger, and a 16w car charger with a handful of type c-c cables. Anything extra is just cluttering up a drawer somewhere
thank you for saying what ive been thinking about this phone being "modular"
but i hope its a step in the right direction
The expandable storage is kinda cool to have these days.
every phone in the price range still has it.

I had the htc one, was great phone
I was looking for this comment.
Not bad, I would buy one of these, I like the idea of changing the color of the back panel! Shame the battery isn't officially user replaceable, though I know I'd be able to replace it.
If only this thing had a headphone jack and a charger included...

7:53 Ah yes, my favourite phone the HTC phone 1
So glad you upgraded from your note phone
0:40 "Rizz up your phone at a moment's notice" I didn't know my phone needed to be rizzed.
Well between the phone and me, someone needed rizzing.... so
i didnt know i wanted visible screws but i love this kind of industrial design
I can imagine how any phone starts screaming when it's unwrapped... and realized it's in the JerryRigEverything lab and about to get tortured and abused.
Tbf This nothing phone really held up this time, super impressed might have a look
I want more videos just like this
This phone is cool. You can scratch it up and just replace the screen protector and back cover. No ugly case. I like it.
0:38 please never say that again
Now that's the durability test we've been waiting nd glad to see CMF Phone 1 survived it! Its a solid phone for it's price ❤
Can't wait to see how the under screen fingerprint sensor holds up ^-^
Surprised by the CMF Phone 1 quality at that price point. The modular design is pretty cool too. I wish the battery was replaceable for easier repairs. Overall, this seems like a great budget friendly pick.
I think nothing should let us buy replacement batteries direct from them and make them easier to replace on your own.
Ooh, battery fab tour? Yes!
I miss the days when smartphone brands used to make devices with a removable battery and back cover. Now, they just want to make more profits from repairs.
Even if battery was removable you were not going to swap it often.... Backup as well as charging speed is so good nowadays... It's only after 2 or 3 years you will need to replace it which will take only a few minutes as you only have to unscrew a few screws and pull it up..... So it is better to keep it glued firmly placed... Then why people are disappointed... It's just stupid...
Technically it's removable. Just take the tape out and shove it back in.
@@nothing9220 cringe bot, stop copy pasting your nomsesical response
Something glued is cheaper than screws etc.
I dunno man, people always say this, but I don’t think people really want to go back to those days. Even when we could replace batteries, did you? Some people probably did, but most didn’t. I never did. They just charged them anyways. And I think everyone was getting really tired of phones falling apart every time it fell off a table. Not to mention you lose the waterproofing. I feel pretty neutral about the loss of the replaceable battery
For a first phone from nothings sub company its not bad at all. I think the feedback from this one will ultimately give the people what they want which is apparently a removable battery lol. At 200 bucks its a great phone for younger kids or even a solid work phone because if the back cracks you can just get another.
It's a real shame they didn't make the battery easily replaceable. Sure it's way easier than on most phones but they should have done that at least. I will never pick a phone because I can change the color of it although it's a nice feature.
It is easily replaceable even if you are an idiot

Am I tripping or did a Jerry say HTC phone at about @7:58 or so? 😂
@3:16 The rear panel is molded, but the milling marks are from the mold itself, quite common to leave machining marks on molds where they "wont be seen" They will often even feel like tool-marks as the geometry is transferred to the plastic part.
They never said that it's modular. People just started using that term.
It's a great design for people like me who doesn't like back cover and fir the battery replacement thing even if it was swapable nobody gonna swap it as backup and charging speed have become so good... I'm a heavy user so after a year or two even i can replace the battery not like other glued phone... So it's great... Hoping for a small like 6 inch phone with great processor and I'm all in
7:53 HTC Phone 1?!
I caught that also, not sure if it was a simple mistake or one of Zack's jokes since HTC had a phone called "One"
@@flipclone probably joking 😂😂
I really like the design and the price. Phones not supposed to be only extremely expensive boring glass rectangles. Not everyone needs the same.
I need in my phone 3,5mm jack, SD cars slot, being NOT that huge size and would like to have no hole in my screen, that's why Sony is about my only option these days.
But the battery it's still removable. The advice to no remove it are only a legal thing I think

@@nothing9220 shut up
This is actually pretty cool. the easy to replace back & side panels could be made out of a higher quality material (bought seperately) + maybe in the next gen could get an even easier to repair inside (like easy swap battery or something)
7:44 it is not correct, actually.
In 2016 Sony released Xperia XA ultra with ois in the front facing camera (and no ois in the rear for some reason).
Just so you know))
I'm visiting in India and just bought one.
That sticky doesn't do anything with the warranty.
I definitely love the price with the premium looking screen

Is this a reason to not sell replacement batteries? Or to make the battery connector a bit hard to access
@@0815dude nope, they could've made the battery easily replaceable without any screws or prying but they chose to screw over the consumer
The fact that it survived all durability tests is noteworthy. It's a shame about the lack of modularity for repair and upgrade but the low price tag still makes it an attractive choice for some users.

My total giving amounted to 40,000 dollars. Everyone thought I was delusional. Today, 1 receive 85,000 dollars every two months. I have a property in Calabasas, CA, and travel a lot.
