    First of all I find your videos are really useful and informative! thank you for creating these videos!. I just want to ask whether we can get the consistency of a urethane resin mixture by melting gunpla runners with a solvent?, if we can do you mind sharing the ratio of the mixture? as I want to be more mindful with the plastic consumption, and I find recycling gunpla runner to reuse it for my models would greatly reduce my personal plastic waste at the very least.

      tried this with melted. runner, doesn’t really work as its a drying/flashing off reaction where the solvent leaves and the plastic remains being to much shrinkage and loss of material. not very consistent uni less super thin part and even then not great.

    Cool, though i still have not seen someone did the metal casting of gundam

      it's tricky would have to be a low melt metal, and most of the high heat resist silicones are not really that high, but honesty pewter could work in non stress areas i'll add it to my list of stuff to try.

    do you think i could make an entire model with only casting? like the joints, armor, ETC?

      Yeah, but it might be a hassle depending on how many parts.

      yes absolutely can,
      but the cost and complexity would make it difficult 😣 stick to smaller projects and 3d printing/scanning.

    a lot of work

      Yes it can be but can also be small/ easy. and worth it if you got a part you want to use later and don't want to buy a full kit.

    Old version of 3d printing

    How you fill the 2 sided mold so you don’t get air trapped in the part? Will you do a video of that process as well?

    • @HAFGunpla
      @HAFGunpla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eventually yes, but i use a small hooked nose syringe to inject the urethane resin while it is slightly open the pressure from syringe is enough to remove air and if mold is tight enough closes with barely any to no flashing.

    Have you tried cloned more details parts?

    • @HAFGunpla
      @HAFGunpla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but never filmed them in general its the same process, just can become complex. I will film more in future

    Did you put the piece together?

      not this one, was just for video

    How would you recommend v fins ? I’m trying to duplicate some of those and I’m not sure how to go about it

    • @HAFGunpla
      @HAFGunpla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes im going to add a video soon witch will include rx-0 unicorn banshee vfin, but in meantime use the on the sprue molding method you see at the end of part one, if the v fin is still on the plastic otherwise if clipped can hot glue v fin to small pin and cup mold it that way its a tricky small part but yes can be molded no problem.

      part 1 about 11 mins in i deal with on the sprue/tree molding.

    Ok, how was the plastic quality? is it easy to brittle?

    • @HAFGunpla
      @HAFGunpla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      no not break in your hand easy just for areas like joints that take a lot of stress would need testing.

  • @VictorOsuna7
    @VictorOsuna7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Have you tried replicating the entire parts tree?

    • @HAFGunpla
      @HAFGunpla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      all depending on size of tree its a bit of a beast to run and cast, many parts in different positions will be air bubble and distortion city would stick to small sections but i have plans for next mold video dealing with that exact thing

    Can you make things like KneeJoints ect Using this method for Custom Kitbash/scratchbuilds

    • @HAFGunpla
      @HAFGunpla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes but do to shrinkage of cast part all parts would have to be same material, ie injection part will fit looseish/tightish into cast part. and you would need a non brittle resin or urethane prob casting in cold cure dental acrylic would be best but still shrinkage, has little flex before break, but yes absolutely can mold and cast the parts.
