I haven't reviewed a scale truck in a while and I really can't believe how awesome this little truck is for the price. The detail is much better than I thought and it's capable enough to drive while still maintaining a great scale appearance and feel.

looks like a lot of fun and from my time in the 80s
I was talking about the truck and the fact that it looked like the Toyota Hilux and not the sort of toys we had back in the 80s.
My first gas rc car it would only go around in circles it was on a wires that i held in my hand with a wooden handle.
Once you fire it up you could not stop it it would have to run out of fuel, top speed was about 60 mph if i remember right.
It was given to me by my grandfather and now my son has it and he is 25 years old i hope one day he will hand it on to his kids.
what speaks against bringing this time back?
it doesnt have proportional steering but it has proportional throttle the tires are purtty hard but i solved that and for the money its worth it and its kinda waterproof but u can get a 2 gloves and a couple zipties and ur ready to go

It can be a great start to upgrade to hobby grade. A FlySky radio, an esc and a servo (to replace the front motor - yeah, it's a dc motor, not a servo). Maybe you could even replace the driver motor to something stronger. (I did basically it to a toy grade rc car - just didn't replace the front motor for a servo yet. Put a 180 dc motor and now it's too fast even to control! 😂 BTW, I put even an fpv camera in it! As soon as I can I'm going to create a second channel, just for fpv videos. 😊)
MC's Creations ...I had made a previous comment that I would like to do that with a truck like this. Basically get one cheap enuf to justify gutting it and putting hobby grade parts in and turning into long range fpv. If you have some links to yours I'd like to see it. Thx.

I bought it used for really cheap and my idea was only to get the remote and circuit board. But when I saw that I could put a 180 dc motor in it I changed my mind. 😊 Anyway... My videos are in Portuguese. And I had a few problems last year, so I stopped posting... (Basically I was almost killed by a robbery and after that my mother almost died... So... You know.) But I recorded every step of the changes and now I just need to edit everything. 😉
Fpv rc cars are a lot of fun.
yup, the FK-130 FK-150 same size can as an FK-180, just gotta look at the RPM specs when buying, some are good torque, some are extreme RPM with fair torque. other potential for these is getting a 2nd front axle and playing games to make it 4WS with upgraded tx/rx if ambitious. I don't think it'd ever be a super star, but it'd make it a little more fun anyway. scratch build longer taller leaf springs, give it a body lift, widen the track 1/2" to 3/4" (custom rim butchering!), better tires. some of the fun with models sometimes is seeing how far you can push with improvements.

Damn, Dustin! I mentioned that truck in a comment in another video of yours and forgot completely that you reviewed it already! O.o Anyway, people use to customize a lot that truck and looks like the kit version already comes with a servo for steering and so on. 😊
It's acceleration is proportional or not
How much time does it take to recharge the battery and and can you tell me about plaing time (how much time does it take)
At least the throttle is proportional.
Looks pretty cool. Put some real electronics in it and I bet it would be real fun. Looks like ya live by the ocean..i do and it just looks like it there too..lol
the comp car which is what you got, is better as the weight is more in the front. i have both and the full bed does look fantastic. the upgrade servo in the kit is great the switch in steering for the rtr is like a limiter so the motor (holds where it is and goes no further)
Very similar to Trial Finder without the quality but looks ok..

The scale of the truck and stone is not the same. Did you ever see at real pick up truck running on a stone almost as a size of the vehicle
Try a lipo I got small boat with same plug lipo ..totally different truck climbs way better

long time no speaky...I am loving these cheap beginner scale machine's.
Like me...I'm sure you remember the day's before the Inter web's...when all you could do is go through the local add's or hear one on local radio to find your nearest hobby supply's shop.
I remember when I was in my teen's drooling over those expensive Tamia starter kit's.
Now you can get a nice RTR machine for under $45 without leaving the house.

If wpl had a 1/5 scale of this I would totally buy it; I don't care if it doesn't perform as good as other rc's, but for some reason traxxas is only making models of fords

agree, just a lower RPM higher torque FK-180 motor by itself would do lots for it in a few minutes, they're under 2 bucks.

C14 has square headlights, C24 has round headlights

Good looking little truck, but it seems most of the money when into design and they kinda dropped the ball when it comes to the technical aspect of it. With a few upgrades, it could be a fun little scale hilux!

The bed wasent desiveing cause you got the wpl c14 that always come with the spare wheel bed the wpl c24 comes with a normal truck bed

I've been looking for a cheap little 4wd truck to gut out and convert to long range fpv. But the non proportional steering is always a pain to convert to a proportional servo. This was almost was I've been looking for. But for $ 35, it would be a good starter truck for a young child.

considering the expense that scale crawlers can go to, this is great for maybe the kids to start with and spend there pocket money on swapping out stuff like the esc servo ect to proportional gear and customising the body until there ready for the real deal. great review

They're great for people who just want some vehicles that fit 1/18 scale action figures like GI Joes, also. You could easily pay over 100.00 for classic Joe vehicles that don't even have suspension. This is a 35.00 vehicle in the right scale that's highly detailed. Even if you never put a battery in it, it's still a better deal for that, haha.
Do you think you could upgrade this easy enough to work with some SCX24 parts? I'd put my stock motor and servo in if it'd work. I'm thinking about doing the Furitek motor in my SCX24.

And that's exactly what it is, a super cheap toy truck that works well enough. I like the Toyota looks 👍
yup, it's just TOO "plastic model toy class" to want to mess with, to me anyway.
a 20 buck "mistake" was jjrc Q15, but happened to have 3 FK-130 motors laying around to replace the totally toy motors with, the lower RPM and greater torque improved it a lot, and have some WPL's soft tires on the way to slap onto it before handing it off to a buddy's kiddo. may also bump it from 4.8v to 6v to give it a little more speed+grunt. performance wise it's much better than these WPL drivetrains/suspensions. planning same upgrades to a YY300 for giggles.
