    The "dimples" are there to locate/secure the steel reinforcement bits during rhe injection molding process to ensure they stay in the right place. They go back to the 80s and the Type 4 plum.

    I’ve had some of these since November 2022 used them both suppressed and unsuppressed no issues. Close to 800 rds on one mag.

      Thank you! I agree, I've used the Armacon selector for quite a while now and it works great.

    I haven't bought any of the AC Unity AK-12 mags yet, but it was a cool idea of them

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Agreed, they're pretty cool. I do wish they would've copied some of the internal features (especially the fully loaded indicator) of the actual AK-12 magazines rather than just the outward appearance, but cool nonetheless.

    Great Video, want to pick one of these up because they are so cheap. I dont have a 5.45 but I have a .223 AK, any idea if the 223 Follower from the AC Unity .223 mags fits in the AK12 clone mag?

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not 100% sure as I don't have any 5.56 followers to test it myself, but I know a lot of people use PodArms 5.56 followers in 5.45 magazines and they've worked flawlessly, so most likely the AC Unity .223 followers will fit.

      @@Feldmutze Might just snag one of each and try it. Worst case Ill just sell the AK12 clone mag to a buddy who has a 74.

    I think those dot things on the feed lips of the authentic mags are the injection mark for the polymer mold

      Nice. I've been continuing to use this AC Unity magazine since doing the review and it continues to function flawlessly as well. Only complaint I have is the rounds seem to sit looser in it now, so you can hear the ammo shaking when it's loaded in a pouch.

    Does it has bolt hold open follower like ex-yu 7.62 steel mags?

    • @Feldmutze

      The one I purchased through RTG does not, but according to GunMagWarehouse, magazines purchased through there do have a BHO follower. Other BHO followers are compatible with this magazine too.

    Excuse me sir, but I've been trying like hell to get my hands on a Zenitco PT-5 for my AK74; but for the life of me I can't find ANY. Would you be able to point me in the right direction?

      You could try AK Stuff, they have the PT-5 currently in stock and are in the US.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  ปีที่แล้ว

      AC Unity makes a windowed 5.56 AK magazine, however it's their own design and not the AK-12/AK-19 style magazine.

    • @InvidiousIgnoramus
      @InvidiousIgnoramus ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, they don't make an AK-19 style mag. No AK-15, either.

    Paid $200 for my AK12 mag and you really get what you pay for, but still high. BTW what safety is that on your gun??

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% agreed on the real AK-12 magazines. As The Gopnik Goblin already said I'm using an Armacon index finger enhanced safety (they also make a thumb version which has the extra tab a bit further back). I did a video on it a few years back th-cam.com/video/eDKtlNqXFHQ/w-d-xo.html if you're interested.

    Man, seeing that blunt front strap on the AC Unity just completely killed my desire to get some. Does not look good at all to have it that flat with that style.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, looks blocky and isn't as comfortable when gripping the magazine either.

  • @superfamilyallosauridae6505

    Pressure from the bolt carrier on the feed lips? Are you sure? In an AR, it's OK that the feed lips aren't steel because when you load, the rounds are pushed down into the magazine BELOW the feed lips by the bottom of the bolt carrier, so the feed lips aren't mechanically loaded by the spring and cartridges unless the bolt is to the rear, so basically for tiny amounts of time when the gun cycles, and before you release the bolt.
    That's why you have to push the AR magazine in that last little bit to overcome the magazine spring, that people bemoan so much and tell you to download to 28 for.
    AK feed lips do not touch AK bolt carrier so far as I can tell on any of my AKs. However, the amount of force the bolt carrier is pushing down on the cartridges is absolutely minimal in AK, so the feed lips are generally doing all of the work of containing the cartridge.
    Same applies to AUG, the magazines have to be beefier at the feed lips.
    In all of my AKs, when the magazine is empty, and I run the action, even without the spring in I can't feel it hitting the magazine.

      Thanks for pointing that out. You're absolutely correct, I conflated the two when I mentioned it in the video.
