This performance was Aksel's last concert performance as a boy soprano, and he later made his first public appearance as a baritone in January 2018, in New York at the Roosevelt Hotel.

There's something mesmerising and angelic about music like this and of course the singer is wonderful. It makes you pause, think, put things into perspective and look to the heavens.

The boy soprano voice can develop a specially beautiful richness in the period just prior to the voice breaking. It is very short lived, thankfully captured here.
It seems the closest to the legendary baroque castrati.

I like the "temperature" of baritone's voice and hope to call you one of my favourites (I'am not giving up Gerhaher or Keenlyside ☺) very soon. Aksel Rykkvin. It's Schubert so course, I want to hear it. But it is also a Lied that I do not believe would strain a voice still developing. And it's a good "stand alone" piece as well as having that tenderness you express so beautifully.

Aksel Rykkvin You are absolutely phenomenal, it’s crazy how someone can handle the worst stage of development the way you did! I’ve never seen anyone do that without cracking during a performance during puberty! Now I know you probably had that happen at home, but you are phenomenal for keeping that together!

Aksel, I just ordered your next CD from Amazon and can't (but must) wait till it comes. With all the videos of your singing since you were a pre-teen singer, it has been interesting to watch you grow physically and to hear you mature as a musician. All these recordings are a permanent record of your progress. I am so glad I "stumbled" across your singing on TH-cam. I have even prayed for you and your future. Your talent is only from God. Use it for Him.

Me too :) This album is a bit different, since it's about half vocal tracks and the other half instrumental tracks, but the arias are among the best I've done, I think. Very happy with it!

This lad is one of the best trebles (boy sopranos in decades. His ability genuinely rivals and in some cases exceeds that of the former treble and now counter-tenor Max Cencic. I would not mind him deciding to be a counter-tenor since he has so much talent in this register! Either way there is much talent here that must not be laid to waste!
