Aksel and Inga are both in the Children's Chorus of the National Norwegian Opera & Ballet, and in the same classical music talent class at school (Musikk på Majorstuen skole).

As I watched and listened, I thought, "I can't believe that Aksel was singing beautifully as a soprano about a year ago!" The transition has been so clean. I wish, for your own voice, that the key were a little higher, but you were still not growling for the lower notes. Wonderful performance -- both of you. Look forward to more videos. I know you are working hard and still developing your voice. God will reward you. You sound very professional even at 15.

Aksel sings almosty with no effort. Strong, smooth, stable voice - a harbinger of a strong professional adult voice. It’s very joyful to realize that the child's soprano goes into the professional instrument of an already tanned singer - nature did not let the guy down and he can continue his career.

what a delight to see and hear these two kids sing.
This is just perfection! Both singers-pronunciation, diction, and of course the musicality. The staccato "pa pa pa", etc. has always given me problems singing this and this was done superbly. Also, just the piano let the voices really be heard clearly. Bravo to you both!

Usually the Norsemen and the Swedes have no problem with the German language. But the Germans on their side they have a lot of difficulties to learn the Scandinavian languages.

@@sirvoxtales2653 My opinion is - the Scandinavians are relatively small nations, they are supposed to learn foreign languages. Besides, the Swedes and Norsemen learn easily such languages as English and German because they are related between each other. Contrary to this the Germans were long time a self-sufficient nation, they didn't get used to learn the foreign tongues. And actually they didn't need it either. Now the usually learn only English.

As I said above, it puts a much better light on Papageno's failure at the Test of Silence and his not pursuing full initiation. It isn't a matter of his being either weak or simple---he just needs to grow up a bit.
Aksel's changed voice is also sweat and beautiful as much as his soprano

I have watched many of your videos on TH-cam, and am so very impressed with the beauty of your voice and the way you interpret so many great classical pieces. 'The Cold Song' by Purcell was fantastic. I hope that one day we in Ireland may have the pleasure of hearing you sing in person in Dublin. God bless you in your future career.
Thank you, I feel privileged to be able to explore more and more classical gems. Dublin would be very interesting, I have been to England many times, but never to Ireland. We'll see!

Yes, singing alto there, and just came home from a tour with them, where we visited and sang with Escolania de Montserrat. A wonderful experience!

Yes, actually it's even easier for me to reach the soprano register than alto, but it's not something anyone would like to listen to as a soloist. But I can blend into a choir that way.
Let me recount that. You can sing in soprano, alto and baritone voice? But only baritone is good enough for being a soloist? Aksel, you are amazing!

... Huh? It's not really... it's fairy-tale light opera about the traditional ideals of good-versus-bad.. I doubt Aksel and Inga will be corrupted by it!
Yvonne Collier of course, the opera is about Dark and light, good vs. Bad. But this duet is actualy about having many, many little papagenas and papagenos (Childrens of course). Trust me, I speak fluently german. You can search the translation of this duet in the internet.
Yes, I understand the reference Chameusepianist. But I don't understand why you think it's "awkward". The opera is an 18th century tale about a time with different cultural values, no? Do you think Aksel/Inga will re-inhabit this era, or imbibe its morals? Or do you think an audience - young audience - will be corrupted by the 'message'? Isn't it more likely that people are intelligent enough - even if only 14 year old - to realise that this is simply play-acting/singing? Anyway, interesting comment on the duet by you! So what did you think of the voices?
You are right, awkward was the wrong word. I corrected it. I can unterstand your point of view, but they put this duet out of the context and performed it in a TV-show... for me, this is really strangely, because they are only 14 years old. Nobody will be corrupted by it, but it is not authentic, because they are just kids - even if they are just acting. The voices are nothing special, but of cource brialliant compared to other teenagers. I was really impressed by the Soprano-voice of Aksel, but he should take time now for his new voice...
OK, I get what you are saying. Maybe a 'talent' show is not the right environment for 'serious' music/opera anyway... when such shows feature opera etc, they usually only present the most well-known pieces in order to cater for the lowest-common-denominator (if you know what I mean)... hence "Papagena" which just about everybody knows! I think the voices are, at the moment, naturally 'immature', but show great promise, especially Aksel. Even though his voice is still developing and maturing, I can detect a warmth and clarity in his new baritone... and a certain sensitivity. I think he has an instinctive appreciation of music and will eventually be a great artiste. Anyway, thanks for the civilised discussion !

I liked this very much. Usually Papageno is about the same age, or even older, than Pamino, so his failure of the test and his pursuing earthly pleasure rather than enlightenment makes him seem a bit of a simpleton. However, this interpretation, of making him a teenager, means that he's simply too immature to seek the Higher Mysteries---with the implication that at some later date he may come back to the Temple.
We did only this scene, but interesting to think about how it would fit in the bigger picture!
