My bunny has an abscess on her nose/ front face. She’s currently getting surgery to remove it, as she apparently had hers because her back teeth were a bit overgrown, which is more uncommon. Praying for a speedy recovery for all my bunny lovers out there. PLEASE do not try to handle it without professional aid!

our bunny, 8 months old has 2 massive tumors. our vet is recommending we put her down but we had been experimenting with cannibus oils in her water and she had been responding well. She's still very active and she doesn't act like it's bothering her.

My bunny (he’s a Netherlands dwarf) got an abscess by his jaw, which was so bad it affected his eye. They had to get his eye removed, and he had below a 30 percent chance of recovering. He made a full recovery and defied the odds! He has one eye, but it made him no different from any other rabbit. However, just yesterday, he had to stay in the vet overnight. More abscesses were starting to grow on his scar! They looks like lumps, and luckily, we were more prepared. Right now he’s on some medications, but there’s still a risk that he may pass. Abscesses like these from what I heard aren’t that common, especially if your rabbit survived an eye removal surgery! And unfortunately, they always can come back. I love my rabbit Pi so much, he’s been through a lot but he’s a fighter and knows how to mask off his pain like a tough guy!

bicillin as well as penecillin G procaine with or without benzadhine has been shown to eliminate ALL OF THE VISIBLE SYMPTOMS OF THIS CONDITION, as well as anything that may be going on in bone tissue. these antibiotics are commonly used on dogs and cats, but its use on rabbits is fairly new. many vets are unaware of the effectiveness of this treatment when done correctly, look at these stories and try it yourself! then tell your vets!

Thank you for sharing I have taken my Honey back twice to remove and drain the abscess but the vet never told me it keeps coming back. It’s hard to give her the pain meds but I hid her antibiotics in blueberries. My husband thinks I’m crazy for spending so much on her health. But I can’t see her hurt. But it does look like it’s coming back. I just can’t afford to take her back! 😥 Your video has helped a lot. Ty

My rabbit died today from this :/ I didn't know that they have such problems. He was almost 5 years old.It was very painful for me to watch him suffering and the vet doctor said that he wont survive even after he cuts all the affected parts so he put "Shushu" to sleep. I hope that you don't have to watch your rabbits sufferings :/

My boy has an abscess that seems to have popped up over night.
I have booked him in for surgery because I was advised that yes my vet can drain the abscess only but if it turns out it is tooth related he'll have to be sent to a specialist to have his tooth removed. The chances of surviving to rounds of anaesthetic is not good for a bunny his size (1.3kg). So he's going to the specialist to have both done at once.
I'm scared for him but also for the bill. It may cost $800, he's worth it but it's going to be a struggle to pay it.

This was hard to watch because my seven year old rabbit has an abscess under her jaw. I'm really worried for her health but I'm trying my best to keep her comfortable. She's on antibiotics prescribed by her vet but I'm guessing she'll need surgery to remove it. I'm really hoping she gets better and that any other rabbits suffering from this are cured.

@snoozwangler Hi snoozwangler, an abscess is a cavity containing pus, surrounded by a capsule of thickened inflamed tissue which is usually the result of a bacterial infection. The pus is an accumulation of dead cells as e result of e battle 2 fight infection. Abscesses can form in nearly any organ of the body as well as in skin, tooth roots and bone. Most common causes of abscesses r bite wounds that become infected and infections in tooth roots and tear ducts.

We went to visit the vet and got antibiotics for our bunny since it was just one and cleaned it the best she could before she put her under and extensively cleaned it. We cant pay for surgery so I'm doing everything I can to get her eat but it's hard since I can tell how uncomfortable and painful it is for her and it upsets me greatly since I cant afford surgery. I've tried mashing her pellets in with water and she eats that she loves her pellets but that's all she'll really eat and she won't eat much else and I'm extremely worried.

Thank you for this , our dwarf bunny Steven has something wrong, not severely but I can tell something is bothering him when he chews, we went to vet and he said that stevens teeth are actually very healthy and he didn’t see anything wrong 🤷🏽‍♂️ he gave us some painkiller for him and said for us to monitor him and we left. Since medication he eats a bit better and has gained weight back , but I can tell something is still wrong after he chews for about 4-5 mins his weight seems ok but I don’t know maybe it’s an early abscess? 😫

My rabbit has an abscess on her side and she can’t walk so we just got it removed today and it’s summer in Australia (35-40 degrees per day) and we have to put her in a sock with holes for arms legs and head and she has a chance of overheating which would lead to death. She’s only 1 and a half and I don’t know what her rabbit friend will do without her if she passes away I know she will be happy either way though, with us or not.

You did well! Lucky you weren't in sweden or the veterinary here would have told you to put him down directly without giving you another option! Sadly that what happened to me although my bunny was way healthier and I was so naive then that I trusted the vet and went through with it. Not a day goes by that I don't regret that decision

Xavaxify my rabbit had one located in her jaw as well, and in fact, it got so big, it started popping his eye out of his socket. We rushed immediately to the vet and he got surgery to get his eye removed. He has one eye now, and is defying the odds. But the abscesses are making a come back. Luckily just yesterday I caught them in time to get him his meds. But I feel you. These things are rough, and whatever happens/happened to your rabbit, I wish her the best.

I wish I saw this video a few days ago. It was only a few days ago I notice swelling on my bunny and I was trying to book an appointment for him for ages.... I called the emergency 3 times. I was suppose to have my appointment today for him but sadly he passed away last night from being startled and having a fit.
The vet said that it was probably a tumour but now that I watched your video I think it was probably this. Also I forgot to say that the swelling was growing fast

My rescued bunny has a recurring abscess in his jaw, the vet put him on antibiotics [Baytril], it clears it up for a while but now it has come back again. He said he will start him on antibiotic injections but there is a risk as it can damage the gut. I'm sceptical about this injection so today I started him on Manuka honey, fingers crossed for him.

And the skin wore of unintentionally then it left a small scar. I posted it on a bunny group on facebook and someone told me that it might be an early sign of abscess. I'm so scared. :( Can you tell me what that is :( Is it going to lead to abscess?

Hi for your Infor there’s a field vet Indonesian doc shared a video to show how to clear out all abscess from bunny swollen area, this doc OMAR said MUST CUT 2 OPENING( lower cut smaller n upper cut wider) in order to drain out all abscess due to AIR PRESSURE. If cut one opening abscess is harder to clear out all as when stop squeezing abscess will suck back deeper in, a second squeeze be harder. I’ve watched his video doc OMAR did the clearing of all abscess by flashing abscess with salt Med first then inject anti biotic to stop any accumulation. NOT give antibiotic injection first as this Med works on drying n harden the abscess would make it really difficult to remove abscess. Pls inform your vet doc , tell him this not to offend him like teaching him what to do but for your bunny sake.his video shows that the bunny wound flatten n within 24 hrs is cured

Hi I would like to share my story and amazing abcess treatment a few days ago I noticed my six year old flemish giant satin mix had an abcess on her lower jaw not having money for a vet i started looking on the web for a home remedy still no luck the only thing I came across were the treatments in this article then I remembered a few months ago I had a huge painful boil just under my butt cheek while trying dozens of home remedies i came across a drawing salve called prid in a horse riding forum it worked on me 100 times better than I could've imagined so out of desperation i decided to try PRID on my rabbits abcess its been 2 to three days since I put the PRID on my rabbit just once to my surpise the PRID not only pulled most the infection out it also made the infection more liquidfide to where I could sqeeze the rest out and I am pleased to say the abcess on the outside has scabbed and there is a hole like what the picture after surical removal and to top it all of im sure it was painless having used this product on myself please pass this information along anyone facing this problem they should try PRID before resorting to a costly surgery the cost of PRID was about 6 dollars at walmart and has been around over a hundred years now I am following up with the after surgery cleanings my rabbit is much happier and not in pain this is a trick that all rabbit owners need to know thank you

I paid about $1000 (in total) but he’s fine now 😊 surgery is the best option cause the abscess will keep coming back. I had to get X-ray, abcess removal and the recheck up and like 3 different type of medication. And also a shot but I only did that 3 times but it was like a pain reliever

Abscess are very hard for a rabbit to recover from. From our cases none of our rabbits have been successfully cured from it, which results in a trip to put them to sleep. If your rabbit is young, it is more likely to be treated, however if your rabbit is 3 years and up I wouldn't recommend trying to treat it.
