Thank you very much because back in June of 2011 my rabbit was diagnosed with an abscess and was very difficult for me to cope. Your videos really helped and in the end my rabbit made it through even though she was an old rabbit. However I just returned from boot camp today and went to pick her up from the vet where she was staying and found out she passed away the day before. It hurts that I hadn't seen her for so long but I am glad she was given an extra year after the abscess.

@TeenyTeh It actually came back this week. My wife was crying and so upset. We love our rabbits very much. The vet gave us the medicine to give her, We put a warm cloth on the abscess twice a day which helps it loosen. We hope she will be ok.
    Thanks again

I haven't cried over sadness in years. But this really got to me. I have a bunny named Hollie she's a mini lop. I'm going to take the best care of her because this video is very inspiring.

I first had my rabbits for five years, I moved to a new place and I kept two bunnies who I loved and they were the two that were close to me. I was still inexperienced because it was my first pair and soon my chubby boy Kei Kei died and Bunny died too. He was fat and chubby I used to rub his belly but he died and he was really skinny. I held on to him when he had his last breath and I cried a lot. Bunny soon had symptoms of cancer and died a few weeks after struggling with the meds and she died too. I still miss them and they meant a lot to me. I saw your videos when I thought of my rabbits and I just want to comment here. I saw part 3 that Spice seemed like he was healing but it reminds me a lot of mine. You're a great owner to your rabbits too and I get how you felt at that time.

@mrclitlips Hi mrclitlips, the thing about abscesses is that there is a very high chance of it coming back again and again. We just have to administer medication, squeeze out the pus and cleanse with iodine as the vet prescribed. And of course to stand by your bunny through this ordeal and give him strength to fight the infection. Good luck!

did you take sugar with you to the vet? i thought you were suppose to never really split them up, particularly if one needs medical attention, they need to both go together

@rennono Thanks rennono, it was such an emotional journey - finding the abscess, sending Spice for the op, dealing with "Will he make it?". I'm happy to say Spice is doing well - his appetite is gd and he's back to his mischevious ways. The daily flushing with iodine and squeezing out the pus was rather unconfortable for Spice but after about 2 - 3 weeks of doing it, he's quite good about it and most of the time sits obediently for us to do our thing. He's such a brave bunny! =)

Yesterday Was My Birthday It Brought Me Many Joys But Now I Am Partly Filled With Sadness. Meringue Has Started Showing The Signs Of The Disease That Took His Older Brother , Skippy. He's Almost 5 Years Old :) . Because It Was Found So Quickly We May Have Caught It In Time. It's No Cure, But For Awhile Longer He Can Be My Happy Cuddly Old Man :D

My bunny has a little bump on her back, a little bit bigger than a pea but I'm not sure if it's an abscess but she's eating well and runs around and seems fine but I'm worried 😩

Thou Blind,He Was A True Gentle Giant,A Kind Soul.Sadly We Had To Cage Him Cause Without His Eyes He Couldn't Live Outside In The Fenced Up Yard With His Family/Herd. So I Trained Him To Listen To Verbal Commands So When I Had To Do Yard Work, I Could Put Him Out On Our Front Yard So He Could Play In The Grass.& With The Help Of Our Chow. He Never Went To Far. Skippy Died 4 Months Before His 2nd Birthday. And Lives On Thru His Baby Brother Meringue(5years June8th), & Their Half Brothers Kids.

we had him put down, cause when the medicine stopped working he was in constant pain and their was no relief for him. He Became Delirius. He started to bite, cause he was trying to tell me just how much he hurt, i knew i was being selfish trying to keep him alive know their was no cure & treatment only helped him for that short span of time.

@genieshanu Hi genieshanu, Dr Ling gave me an injectable antibiotic - I believe it's the same thing - which you inject through that loose skin behind the rabbit's head right? I show how I did it in "How To Cope When Your Rabbit Has An Abscess (Part 3)" - rather how my husband did it cos I'm terrified of needles. =( All the best in fighting your rabbit's abscess. I know how emotionally draining it is, so hang in there and know you're doing the right thing in trying to save your bunny!
