    Outstanding video! Thank you for taking the time to film and edit your work! Good judgement regarding doing what you can accomplish and supplementing with a service truck including the proper tools!

    Love these old Internationals. Did a TD15 today.....One little trick is to take out the fitting, and give it little blast in that hole with a rubber tipped blowgun. It usually blow the puck out to replace the nylon seals.

    I have watched these videos and read all the posts about how to change these seals. They are very interesting but I can’;ty believe no one has collapsed the adjuster and slid the tracks off the front idler. I have done this with my 175, 125, and a D4C. It is a five minute job and no the tracks do not have to be wore out. It is a 5 minute Job you can do by yourself if you have something to lift the tracks with. You can remove it completely if you want to change idlers or replace rollers. Just lift the tracks off the sprocket. Try this before you take your tracks apart.

    When I was working for a Cat dealer I removed the track adjuster piston with a tipped air nozzle inserted into the hole formerly occupied by the relief valve and used air pressure to blow the piston out.

    @zigz0911 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You can get the piston out by using compressed air through the grease hole...

    just got one of these tractors the other day. worked on it today to get it into location. long story. so we cant turn ours because the clutches are screwed. so we had to back it in uphill. got it some way in. got up on a bank n the track slipped off the idler.

    • @randallracer

      we also have the 4 ton blade on it. and it slid inwards. way before that we noticed the tracks were loose. and way before that we sprayed hydro fluid from an old line. its still not where we need it. gonna try gettin on it next saturday. but im sure this video will help us figure out what we need to do.

      A piece of advice, if you have a mechanic come to press the pin on one side, go ahead and do the other side too while he’s there. After I did the one side I paid to have my machine hauled to my project site. After a few hours of work, the other side blew out.

    • @cristianl.347
      @cristianl.347 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exact Same thing happened to me, Replaced the seals on one side. Moved my machine to a job site and blew the seal on the other side. Might as well attack both of them while you’re at it. Great Video!

  • @BRIANVANDUYN
    @BRIANVANDUYN 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How much was it to press the pin out and back in?

    • @justtinkering6054

      It was a family friend that did it on this video. He was able to get me a deal. I actually had the other side go out a few weeks after I fixed this side. I didn't want to bother him again so I called a heavy equipment mechanic that I had used in the past to rebuild the Pilot Control Valve on this same machine. It's been a few months, but I think he quoted me $350 to come out with his press and do all the labor as long as I got him the seal kit. I ended up selling the machine with the track tensioner blown. The new buyers were aware of the issue. I was actually waiting on the seal kit when they inspected the machine. The seal kit came in the day before I shipped the machine to them. I gave them the seal kit when they took delivery of the machine. They were going to have their own mechanic fix it.

    You Could Of Used A Air Compressor To Blow Out Piston From Inserting hose In Grease Fitting hole

      Or more grease from the grease gun. Little more to clean up but shoulda pushed it right out.

    Thanks for this vid, but agree that there is a bit too much talking. Also suggest that you mount the camera on a tripod - the picture wobbles all over the place, and this is hard to follow.

    We cut the pin boss with a torch slide the pin in and weld the boss back up. No pin press needed, no beating with hammers. Easy pleasey...

    hello, what makes the track lose power on one side?

    • @justtinkering6054
      @justtinkering6054  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The plastic seal breaks down and allows the grease to escape. Once the grease can escape, there is no pressure on the track.

      I'm not sure what link washers are. There were some kind of washers between the links. I took them out cleaned them and reinstalled them.

      The grease fitting on mine was a regular old fitting that I bought in a kit from my local tractor/farm store. The grease seal came from H Finney. I ordered that online.

    Dude.... Next time don't be a tight wad and just take that thing to the mechanics shop.... They have all the proper tools, not that cheap Harbor Freight crap, they know how to do it all but the big thing is, you don't have to fart with it at all. And you won't have that huge spot of grease in your driveway that will ruin the environment..........
