- Replacing the track rail on the D5K dozer. Emergency repair in the field. The guys did an awesome job. If in the Houston area, give Star W Equip a call for all your Heavy Equipment repairs.

I must say,its more enjoyable watching someone else do it sometimes, than having to myself..😂😂👍👍
Every time you install new rails make sure paint is buffed off where pads bolt up because they will come loose
These came with Grease over the mating point, and tape over that. It sucks when you learn that lesson in life on your own. Thanks
That was interesting. I didn’t know that the plates were separate. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks
Keep those wheels rolling again have never seen anybody do anything like that
Thanks Thomas construction of Texas
Those guys did a pretty good job.
Procedure is totally different than (1960's) when we had equipment specifically made for this work and could do both sides with 2 men in about 4/5 hours. Worked for Texas Welding and Press then and was much different than today.
The only reason track pads come loose from the chain (rail) is because of improper torque procedure or inadequate torque measurement. The way these guys did it will work just fine.
It's been over a year, and not one pad has came loose. Thanks for watching.
All the old timers say to remove the the paint on the rails before installing the pads so the pads don't work loose. You may wanna retorque the pad bolts in a month or so to be safe. N maybe use a torque wrench instead of a breaker bar?
Thank you for the advice. I will definitely check that.
@@thomasconstructiontexas I know this comment is super old, but you’ll have a hard time finding a torque wrench that’ll get it to spec. Depending on your tracks/bolts, you could be looking at upwards of 2500 ft lbs which you most definitely did not hit with that breaker bar.
I’d recommend just shipping them off to a shop/dealer that has a track press OR get a hytorc digital jgun as those will torque properly as well.
Shouldn’t the rear sprocket have been changed at the same time to even wear?
What’s the torque spec? PDT? Pretty damn tight?
I consider this fastening to be unreliable: they did not use a thread sealant, and did not remove the paint at the place where the track adjoins the hitch.
The guys have done a lot of work, but it's all short-lived.
We would do sections at a time ,in a military scenario.
Hydraulically torked
Good job guys
The last thing he did was put a torque wrench on it.
I was just wondering how much to charge somebody to replace the chains in rollers perseid on a dozer like that
Labor 2 guys about 7 hours start to finish per side.
They need to change the sprocket also.
When we ordered the parts the sprockets came in two weeks before the rails. Needing the dozer we went ahead and put them on. I didn't get a video of that. Thanks for watching.
A little eye protection guys ,
You are right
All paint should’ve been grinder off .. operator is going to loose pads soon 😢
Gotta clean that paint off them chains grouser gonna come loose
I hear that a lot. My guy says it don't have to be. So far so good I'm waiting to see if they loosen up
Cat duzer d6r replacing
always wondered how that was done love the 70s porn music in the background too very entertaining
😮Nový řetěz na starý turas, hnací kolo, totální blbost!!
Why is the one guy wearing deck shoes working around parts that would crush his feet?
