    You are SO lucky to have the earlier pin! My 350B has the later pins that are pressed in. I found that using a "C" shaped 1/8" wedge washer or shim in the gaps between tge outer and inner link sides helos prevent the outer link sides from binding up on the pin. I use a 20 tom Harbor Freight low profile jack attachment on my portapower to push the pin out 3/8" at a time, a pain in the ass for sure, but it works. The later press-in pins have a smaller diameter in the center where the link bushing runs, so it is only difficult where the larger diameter pin ends push through the outer link sides.

    So glad I found you. Just bought a JD 350 in great shape. Can't wait to put it to work!

    Hey I have a 350b track loader with bad steering on the left side too! I'm trying to get the master pin out and came across your video looking how to do it! Thanks for making the video! We should talk sometime. ~Catherine

    The best way to do that is cut a slice in the link around the pin on each side and tap the pin out and then tap the pin back in when done and weld this slice back together on both sides and this will tighten up on the pain and makes it a lot easier to do

    You sure as hell made that look easier than it is lol. I'm going to have a hell of a time with a 1950 10/10 John Deer crawler... I'm enjoying the vids on your 350 and such, thanks!

      haha, it looks easy when i edit a 1 hour video into 10 minutes! 1010 might not be too bad, smaller and lighter components. Good luck, thanks for watching!

    I have a JD350c, need to separate the track, (just to remove track tensioner) (1. bad seals) (so to date: 3 issues)
    2. the main drawbar mounts were severely worn at the track assy. (every one of these has this issue that I've seen) (remove old bolts, buy the bushings first, and ream enlarged hole to fit , usin 90deg grinder and cylinder sandpaper....(using mitsumi bushings (custom size ordered to allow std. JD bushings to fit inside. then used JB weld (HD) to hold in mitsumi Pre-bushings. after all bolted down, added reinforcing hold down plates, front,back/outside/inside,(used old trany jack for the hd steel) added 2" nuts to box in the arm also. After a year of use now.... the paint has only barely cracked on one side....the other side...hasn't moved. (in retrospect, the drawbar change....just may be easier, but the mount bolt nuts wont likely be any good, so this is a very time intensive fix. 3. trans oil will leak, leaks into rear compartment. after months of topping the trany off......and when that rear filler is full, leave filler cover screw off w/ running to bleed out extra, or the reverser may go crazy....and machine will go back/forth on you. (and until you bleed it out, I only had forward, no reverse) all ok now. I swear it floats over my swamp!

    What designates the master link? I’m trying to find one that looks different on mine and they all look the same. I have triple grouser pads as well

      It's been a while, but I think it has a dimple in the center. Older style has a c clip on it.

    just a comment from this wimpy watcher - always a note of suspense in these vids - will the task be successful or will the video end with well, now he has to re-do or fix something more difficult...
    well narrated, and going forward - good luck and, as rockcrusher says, looking forward to seeing this perform at zagray!
    p.s. thanx to bill for the 2' c-clamp!

    You gonna take the JD to Zagray when you get her back on her feet? I like the alligator type master link best where the bolts come through the grouser pad down into the master link halves. Worked out great on a Cat D-8 for me.

    • @themadmailler
      @themadmailler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, i think those type of links are only on larger machines. This machine was purchased so i can use it around my property, but i might bring it to the farm to play with too!

    On the 350s is that master link pin press fit as well? Or just the retainer clip?

    • @themadmailler
      @themadmailler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this is a 350, and it is a press fit. the earlier straight 350's had a clip, and i'd guess that the 1010/40c/etc did as well.

    • @HiddenValleyHomestead
      @HiddenValleyHomestead 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@themadmailler I guess I didn't ask the question very well... Are the 350s with the retainer clip press fit as well?

    • @themadmailler
      @themadmailler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HiddenValleyHomestead Ah, no, they are not. they might still need some influencing to come out, but maybe just a punch and hammer rather than a pin press.

    Nothing like buggering up the end of your buddy’s C - clamp. While at Harbor Freight you should have invested in a 80 dollar heavy duty impact gun. Would have saved your balls too.
