X1 7th gen is nice, still use it to this day. Had some hardware issues with the 4K screen, but Lenovo fixed it (that said the support experience was absolutely terrible but in the end it now works again)
Same! X1C6 could definitely use better speakers but it’s rare I’m not using either a better desktop set, or headphones. I use my microsd slot all the time so I wouldn’t like to lose that.

Last year I bought T580, it's SSD failed mid June and after more than 7 support tickets I had to send it back to Lenovo two days ago for second time. much better buy than the macbook pro or surface laptop more ports and you can upgrade the already fast samsung ssd, the other 2 give you slow 128gb ssds to start and basically no ports or display options.
Order it from Lenovo now and you might get it in time for the 8th gen. I have been waiting over a month for my X1 extreme gen 2 and the ship date got pushed back yet another month last week.
Is this laptop good for day traders? Or should I go with the extreme? Will the carbon efficiently hook up to an 49 inch ultra wide with good quality on the carbon?
Given the lack of expandability within I wouldn't exactly be a device I am geared to, but unlike your typical Apple laptop you can at least easily replace the battery and it's cheaper. But unfortunately Lenovo has taken too many corner cutting cues from Apple that renders it a poor value in my view and that seems to get worse and worse with each generation as they had done with the T series. Don't get me wrong I think the build quality is alright but the lack of serviceability and mild keyboard flex only enforces the image I am drawing here. For the money there are far better options.
I was wondering if you recommend a thin and light, that can handle good download speeds for a GoPro and DJI drone 4k footage. I do minor video editing from these two toys and wanted something that can handle editing. Thank you
Waiting for Thinkpad x1 carbon to get dedicated graphics like MX150/250. If Razer can fit that horsepower in a more compact 13inch chassis then Lenovo can do that too.
why not get an X1 extreme then. I really don't see how they can fit dedicated graphics in 1.13 kg X1C when they've alrerady run out of space to trim to get as closer to 1kg as possible.
I got mine with 4K and i7, returning it for an i5 and 1080P. Can’t stand the battery life on the 4K model and the i7 is definitely not necessary for what I will be doing
Having the wifi card soldered on "is not" fine, with me. In my years of experience, with computers, like this, the wifi card is the one thing that I've had to replace. Usually, it's the bluetooth, in the card, that goes bad. Well, that's what I've found... If you lease these, and or, keep them for a couple of years, then the wifi card is not likely going to be an issue, for you. But, I like to keep my ultrabooks, for four years +. Anyway, just my thoughts, for what they're worth. Well, they worth what you paid for them, at least, right?

slighter I want a laptop for gfx and video edits and also for writing. Which series should I look at? Everyone says thinkpad got good keyboard but they’re heavier than say the Yoga. I need something light as it will be mostly used outside. Hoping for some long battery hours too.
@@elletangere8964 the X1C is the lightest model they have at less than 1.13kg. For writing or programming is perfect. No dedicated GPU though, so first of all you should look into whether you need one.
@@elletangere8964 yes, for 3d modeling you most likely need a good gpu. If you like thinkpads you could get an x1 extreme. It's 15", 1.7-1.8 kg though. That being said, you can't really get a super-light ultrabook and still have the performance of a workstation. You could technically buy an x1c and an external gpu for when you're "docked", but at that point maybe you should just buy a desktop pc + a cheap laptop for writing on the road given how expensive eGPUs are currently.
But is it true that the x1 carbon chassis wears off easily? It sure is a heavy duty ultrabook but is the carbon fiber finish lasting or does it start fading away with time?
Why don't these 7th gens have 32GB ram options yet? I am still on the L380 yoga and want to upgrade but these "higher end" versions have low ram. Maybe I will look into the X1 Extreme 2nd gen. Hope they release a Yoga version tho
I saw either previous year's model or this year's at Costco for around $1300. It had the i7, 16gb RAM, and a 512 gb SSD. I was seriously looking at that one. I think it was the 1080P display; I know it was touchscreen, but it didn't look like 4k.
I do love my Thinkpad Yoga but I'm reluctant to go back to Lenovo because it's the second Thinkpad I've own that gets stuck in a reboot loop after Windows updates. Very annoying.
