    Yay. I bought the 2018 model with the HDR dolby display because of you, Andrew. Thanks a lot!
    The speakers improvement is really a nice touch, although I really don't dislike mine, they could indeed be better. Overall, It surpassed all my expectations, it's an incredibly good daily-driver. Battery life is pretty good for me. It didn't disappoint at all.

    Since I'm waiting and pre-ordered the XPS13 2 in 1, and was stuck between this X1 and the XPS13, what is your opinion about these two laptops? I noticed that that XPS13 actually scored higher in the GeekBench testing, and it's got better Graphics card. I asked myself: why should you buy an older version of CPU, which is the X1? Really like to know your opinion about this.

  • @carmennooner2027
    @carmennooner2027 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Full hd, because of battery life. It still doesn't compare with the Dell xps line you recently reviewed though. I believe I will be more seriously considering my new Windows laptop according to battery life, screen size, touch screen, Windows Ink, and must have backlit keyboard for me. Oh, and price. I will have to do a great deal of searching around to stay within my under $1k price range. Lower would be even better, but I want something that will last and something I will use. If I am going to be jumping into the Windows eco system, I may as well try to get as many boxes checked as possible for the least amount of money possible. I know you will have videos out there that will help me make a smart decision as well as an affordable one. You are the best reviewer by far young man. And you speak my language - semi technical!

    I got the i7 with 16 gb RAM and 512 gb SSD for $1,300 from Costco...amazing machine. I was worried about thermals, but AIDA 64 can’t get it to thermal throttle (except at the very beginning before the fan spins up). Stable at 75-85 degrees after 25 min at 100% CPU, hovers around 2.5 GHz. Fan is practically silent at 5,000 RPM. Has no problem running an Ubuntu VM in Hyper-V, was able to do software updates on both OS at the same time today with no stuttering or lag on host or client. Pretty awesome!

    Hi Andrew,
    I actually think X1 carbon gen6 2k is better than the 4k model. The previous year's 2k model has better brightness, amazing gamut, and Delta-E. At the same time, it has better battery life. Gen 7 has a better speaker but I don't think it worth the money. Intel 10th generation CPU is also coming soon. Is it better to wait for the next X1 Carbon? What do you think? Thanks

    Best Laptop ive ever used. (the 1080p version that is). Solid performance, great battery life, fantastic keyboard (really important, i have to type alot).
    The built in ports, together with the dongle Lenovo sells for a couple bucks, get you surprisingly good connectivity and the soft touch coating just feels amazing.
    Only bummer is the soldered on RAM, so consider the 16 gig model. Other than that, its a fantastic device and as an administrator you'll totally love this thing.
    As far as ultraportables for work go, this is it. Bonus points for offering it with Linux. Great job Lenovo, kudos to that!

    Why do none of the reviews include the fact that the keyboard is mil-spec'ed and spill proof? I don't care about gaming or video editing. I wanted a powerful, light weight business machine with long battery life. It gave me what I wanted with 16GB of ram being maxed and the Whislkey Lake I7. No complaints at all. Love the light weight.

      @@andrewmarcdavid another question. I am about to buy a new ultrabook. I currently have a maxed out Dell XPS 13 9360, which one would be better option, the Dell XPS 13 9300 or the Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th Gen, both with Core i7 10th gen processors??

    If I use it mostly for Microsoft excel for building models etc. should I consider the 4K model for the extra screen real estate?

    In India, the *base model X1 Carbon 7th gen* runs for $2100 and *MacBook pro 13" 2019 256GB* for $1,650. My workflow pretty much revolves around chrome with 10 tabs, vscode and Photoshop.
    Which one should i pick?

    • @adi5601
      @adi5601 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sam S9 yes, but the 4k screen to make it a fair comparison with the MacBook pro.

    • @adi5601
      @adi5601 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sam S9 If you're from Europe then the prices will be relatively same as compared to India. Honestly at this point I'm thinking of going on with MacBook, because i use windows for adobe softwares only and main os is Ubuntu. MacOS will be a sweet spot.

    • @adi5601
      @adi5601 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sam S9 True, I'm about to move to EU soon for education in CS and from what i know most of the professors use ThinkPad and MacBook, I'm sure I'll go with MacBook as of now. Do let me know what you went for after making any purchase.

      @Sam S9 Wow thankyou for the insight, with lots of reviewers recommending 16gb ram i was bit skeptical. Will definitely pick the base model 256 now with a Samsung T5 external ssd.

      Stick with Windows, there's no benefit of Mac at all, unless for some reason you prefer the OS.

    Choose the UHD, and change to lower setting when you want more juice. Better experience when you watch a movie in UHD mode while plugged in.
