    I've owned several Mitsu's in my day and they all have the following in common in my view: 1. They're cheap! Very inexpensive to buy and usually better equipped than the competition. 2. Great bumper to bumper warrantees... Not that you'll need it because they're well put together. 3. The engine/drive trains are reliable to the point of being bullet proof and 4. they're inexpensive to maintain and drive. In the final analysis, if you're going to buy a car to own for a long while, dollar for dollar you can't do better than a Mitsubishi. If you want a car with "snob appeal"... This isn't it...

      Ronnie ...yeah Ron, I remember that car. That much horsepower, all wheel drive in a car that weighes nothing... It must have been a lot of fun :)

      Well said. We have two ASXs and two Outlanders in our extended family. All serviced by the book and they've been great. Alternator went in one of the ASXs outside of warranty, MMA replaced it for zero cost. Happy, reliable motoring at the right price.

    Absolutely love this car, it looks great. I would buy one and never considered a mitsubishi before.

      @chasingcars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s good to know. The look is definitely bold. Personally, I like it but the rear end is quite unusual.

      After owning 26 Mitsubishi's myself, I have never had a bad car. I like the SUV look but still prefer a sedan car. Currently having 2 Lancers and an older Outlander, I won't be changing brands any time soon. Love That Car.

    People dont complain about the no air vents in the back enough, so now manufacturers are getting away with doing less for still more.

    The dashboard looks very similar to the lexus NX which is a complement by the way and the eclipse cross is much better than the ASX.

    The interior is very cool
    The back is "what the fuck?

  • @TheOriginalDeckBoy
    @TheOriginalDeckBoy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Before you buy one, open the hood, press your finger on the any AIR INTAKE pipe and watch it crimp like a water bottle, cheap parts, melt onto vehicle and will cost you a fortune to fix when plastic particulates sear into your engine block.... Also air conditioning condensers are terrible, expect it to fail every two years, I've had 3 already replaced...

    Am quite intrigued with this car, but my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant still has so much life left, having owned her for 9 years now. Being that the Eclipse Cross has a turbocharged engine, does it require premium fuel, and does it have a timing belt or chain?

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the last year the Lancer will be sold in Australia - at this point there is no plan to make a new version of it. Mitsubishi are shifting to an all-SUV range. At least they are making improvements!

    This competes with CRV, not HRV.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don’t see it that way. The Eclipse Cross is much closer to the HR-V in size dimensionally, and in Australia at least, the HR-V and Eclipse Cross compete in the same segment. A further differentiation is that the CR-V is available in seven seats here.

    Great review, disappointing car. I think it's difficult to justify when the entry level 3008 is $2k more and just so much better as a package. Pity there is the stigma that Peugeot's are terrible, unreliable old person cars (I mean they were)...

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love the 3008 but they do get exxy in Tom spec (GT-Line with nappa leather and pano roof)!

    • @guysolomon7904
      @guysolomon7904 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chasing Cars but you don't need the top spec, even the base model 3008 gets all the tech and fancy bits one needs, and the cloth seats on all trim levels are really tasteful so you don't really need a GT line. Anyway, I feel like I'm preaching to the choir as I know you like the 3008 too xD

    • @sirgalahad777

      @@sirgalahad777 which is of no relevance to 99% of consumers and the ones who need it can easily get something better than this. The 3008's traction system is clever enough to eliminate the need for 4WD in most scenarios anyway.

    nice objective review, i did not like the look of the eclipse cross at first but now it definitely grew on me. Does this vehicle require premium 95 octane gas, or it can run on 91 octane fuel?. normally turbo cars require 95 octane fuel or there is engine detonation and knocking

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. They say it can run on 91 RON but I wouldn’t. This engine isn’t fundamentally different to other small capacity turbos so I’d be feeding it 95 RON.
