@@mervinprone No, not even close. The RAV4/Venza takes a 12 mpg hit due to the high profile, poor aerodynamics, and larger tires. Plus they have a short rear floor and a sloped rear window. A "Camry" wagon, like the Camry wagons of the 80's that were based completely on the existing Camry body with a long roof line properly squared off would have a more useful cargo area with a longer floor and only lose a few mpg's compared to the sedan.

I don't like correcting journalist's but, while the camry does have two electric motors at the front, only one of them does the driving. The other starts the petrol engine and is a generator. The electric drive motor will also charge the battery but only on regenerative braking cycle. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I was wondering why a FWD engine also needs two electric motors in the front. Thought it would have been wiser to put the electric motors on the back wheels, but your statement made sense now.

I have a non hybrid 2015 Camry, easily the best car that I've ever owned. It drives well, is comfortable, reliable and uses hardly any more fuel than a Corolla or a Yaris!
I see the styling as an evolution of the old styling, which I think is a good thing. In my opinion the 2018 model is the best looking one so far

I own a 2021 SL non-hybrid with THE last V6 engine to come out of Japan. I’ve had two 4 cylinder Camrys, a 2011 Aurion V6, and now this car. What an amazing vehicle - I drive it in economy mode and I would find it hard to find anything that tops it for performance, comfort, reliability AND fuel economy. With good throttle control it achieves 6.3 Ltrs/100km on the highway and 7.8 in suburbia. Excellent for a V6. I am provided with four cylinder hybrids as a loan car each time I have my car serviced - it’s chalk and cheese. I would find it extremely difficult to go back to a four cylinder - even my wife shudders at that option. I have kept all these cars for ten years before upgrading and fortunately they are long lasting and provide reliable motoring. With no more V6 options, I guess I will be seeing exactly how long this car will last. I my wife and I are in our seventies now so I guess this will be our last car. And what a car it is.

You are looking at the best colour (metallic red) in my opinion. In 2020 I bought a Camry in the UK and only had the choice of black, white, silver, rust brown or Galaxy Blue. I chose the blue but wanted a metallic red which they only sold in Ireland but not the UK. Strange Toyota. The Camry is a fantastic car and does all I want from a car, hugely spacious economical and very quiet and a very comfortable hybrid car.

I currently use a VW Passat Business Sedan in combination of private and driving for regular customers, I travel about 45,000 kilometres a year and the SL Camry interests me greatly, I did drive the Lexus ES300h which was very nice to drive but was about $75,000 drive away.
Most of my driving is on the M31 from the Southern Highlands to Sydney which means I don’t get the full value of the Hybrid system but I still think this Camry would be worth an extended test drive.

The only thing amazing about a Hybrid Camry is the ownership and running costs. There's really nothing amazing about the vehicle itself. But that pretty much describes Toyota vehicles across the range - not class-leading in any particular areas but 'good' across the board with plenty of dealer support and reasonable servicing and parts availability. For a lot of buyers, that's all they want I suppose...

I had a look at the new 2025 Camry yesterday.
The newer Camrys seem fantastic in all respects except for 2 things:
Headroom is tight in the higher spec versions with the panoramic sunroof and the cars are now very low to the ground. Getting out of the car is a challenge if you are older or have a bad hip.
Toyota obviously wants to appeal to a younger audience and be more sporty, but the cost is the loss of some comfort for older, long time Camry owners.
I also wonder about the durability of the panoramic sunroof over the long term. The cost of repair may be considerable.

Bought a brand new Camry hybrid SL in 2022. Was a decent comfortable car but was very boring to drive. Paid just over $49k for it ON the road. New price at 10k more is ridiculous for a Camry. Sold it for more than I paid for it about 1 year later (thanks Toyota waiting lists) and bought a 2010 Crown Hybrid. Much better car in every way apart from the fuel economy. Oh and invested the $25+k too.

I wonder if this model will have any more headroom than the previous model, which at 182 cm tall (with a long torso) I found quite tight. That piano black on the passenger side of the dashboard looks Mehhhhh.

Compare hybrid Camry with ev you missed one important parameter. Resale value. People tend forget about that

limited head space, awkward sedan boot and premium fuel needed, how is it a good for fleet/taxi drivers apart the comfort and fuel consumption, plus it's not cheap!

Disappointed this isn't a brand new platform. Not worth the 60k asking price. Why not just buy a lightly used ES300h?

400kg braked towing - is that low for a hybrid vehicle?
