I think you can never get anyone to admit they are wrong through debate, but you can, as this pastor does, put the seeds of doubt in their minds, and when they look to debunk his premises through research, they will be forced to consider the truth of their position. Obviously many will choose never to test their beliefs, but those that do will have to deal with the reality of your arguments, not just the us vs them rhetoric.

I’m adopted and have had three dads over the course of my life. The first one didn’t know I existed until I was six months old, the second boiled me alive (no, I’m not exaggerating, I’ve the burn scars to prove it), and the third was bipolar with a penchant for verbal abuse. I know what it’s like to suffer a horrendous situation and not know how to get out and I know what it’s like to be terrified at home. You sound like you’re still hurting - and understandably so! - and I want you to know that God is good. Looking at who I am today, I can confidently say that I see how every trial I endured has grown me into who I am and, were I given the opportunity to remove each and every one of the horrors I’ve experienced, I’d happily leave all of them there. God used everything from my uncontrollable, PTSD flashbacks of watching my skin blister and pop in the water to the complete lack of human support to my time living homeless and sleeping in my car parked on the side of the street to grow me in ways that I am incredibly thankful for. So I want to encourage you. Even though you and your kids endured abuse at the hands of your “Christian” husband, God is still good and, if you give yourself to Him, He can and will use the pain you’ve experienced in a way that will cause you to praise and glorify Him with thankfulness! If He did it for me and the absolute atrocities I’ve been through, He can do it for you. I’d also like to encourage you to let you know that the pain passes. Talk to her that it is important to deliver the baby for her to be safe and her baby too. I'd think of it many times for both of us to be safe and while I'm in labor I pray to God to hold me and my daughter while were in the surgery. You don’t need anybody or any church in order to be a Christian. Just ask Jesus to forgive you of All your sins and then Follow Him from that moment on. Read the Book of John - especially Chapter 3 and pay very close attention to Vs. 3 - where Jesus says “You must be Born Again to enter the Kingdom of God (Heaven). Find a “Bible Carrying Church” and start attending. NOT a Cult like the Mormons and Jehoveh Witnesses. Be very careful and listen for God’s voice to lead you..

I went to an Art School in Portland, Oregon for 2 years. And though the curriculum was more business and Arts based, I had two classes that required discussion and debate on social concerns and worldviews. I remember to this day having one of our main discussions/debates in class while there was a "Free Love" parade going on down the street where people were riding bikes and marching free down the street completely nude. In class, during the discussion, we didn't have a choice not to say anything, the more you contributed the better your grade. All I know was I just explained my position and worldview based upon my foundation being upon the Word of God... I'd say it was civil, but people would avoid or walk away everytime when it came time for their response, as was displayed in this video. I couldn't understand it. They demanded a response, evidence and facts but they hardened their hearts and ears when it was given. Some were interested, most not. The professor was super interested. He'd pull me aside from time to time and would chat with me throughout the term. I remember going out to my car (to pay parking) during the middle of class that day, and people were going by and I couldn't help but wonder if the majority were there more out of mob mentality/group think (doing the parade because they could and others were there too) because the only point being made was I can ride around buck naked without getting arrested verses actually pursuing an actual cause. Sometimes, I think people protest or join public display only because of mob mentality/group think instead of truly understanding what they're apart of. Always blows my mind. Great video. And solid confutation. Most of the time their stances are clearly emotionally fueled and feelings based, though they attempt to cling to the idea of morality here and there.

God used everything from my uncontrollable, PTSD flashbacks of watching my skin blister and pop in the water to the complete lack of human support to my time living homeless and sleeping in my car parked on the side of the street to grow me in ways that I am incredibly thankful for. So I want to encourage you. Even though you and your kids endured abuse at the hands of your “Christian” husband, God is still good and, if you give yourself to Him, He can and will use the pain you’ve experienced in a way that will cause you to praise and glorify Him with thankfulness! Pastor Jeff is AMAZING once again.
I went to an Art School in Portland, Oregon for 2 years. And though the curriculum was more business and Arts based, I had two classes that required discussion and debate on social concerns and worldviews.
I remember to this day having one of our main discussions/debates in class while there was a "Free Love" parade going on down the street where people were riding bikes and marching free down the street completely nude.
In class, during the discussion, we didn't have a choice not to say anything, the more you contributed the better your grade. All I know was I just explained my position and worldview based upon my foundation being upon the Word of God... I'd say it was civil, but people would avoid or walk away everytime when it came time for their response, as was displayed in this video.
I couldn't understand it. They demanded a response, evidence and facts but they hardened their hearts and ears when it was given.
Some were interested, most not. The professor was super interested. He'd pull me aside from time to time and would chat with me throughout the term.
I remember going out to my car (to pay parking) during the middle of class that day, and people were going by and I couldn't help but wonder if the majority were there more out of mob mentality/group think (doing the parade because they could and others were there too) because the only point being made was I can ride around buck naked without getting arrested verses actually pursuing an actual cause.
Sometimes, I think people protest or join public display only because of mob mentality/group think instead of truly understanding what they're apart of.
Always blows my mind.
