While yes most forms of slavery world wide ie slavery in East Asia, Tibet, serfdom Russia, indigenous pre-colonialism North American slavery was not as harsh and rigid as these other forms. When compared to the GLOBAL African slave trade, there was some harsh similarities with Romani slavery, in Walachia, Aztec/Mayan slavery and India where there was little movement out of the practice. This analysis becomes a form of presentism. Where you are trying to apply modern aesthetics and opinions. Its a disservice to the topic as that’s not the point of researching these topics to declare society and cultures as better. They are just different. it shouldn’t be treated as “not so bad”. You were still subjected to no autonomy, no rights, limitations on marriages and social movement, and no body autonomy… yes there was rape and many of these associations became generational…
It’s not a point in a better society but just variations in cruelty.
It does little assuage the serf to say it’s not as bad as chattel slavery when you are raped beaten and stripped of your dignity and ripped from your family members.
Instead the assessment is that’s it’s just different.
Those that benefited from the global African slave Trade included Africans themselves and ex slaves black Americans owned black slaves.

@@kayoss8787 My point here is just to expose what happened and the different types of slavery used to keep people enslaved. In no part did I mention that slavery was better or worse. There were different forms, and levels of harshness but it was still the same.

@ at no point did I refer to your specific dialogue… hence the important detail the word you or the creator did or said x. but to include this as part of the conversation as this is a common minimization that comes up and wasn’t addressed.

@ So, You wanted me to assume that your comment on my video WAS NOT about the dialogue in my video 🤔? Interesting

@ I can be more critical since you are bordering k. Being narcissistically inclined at this point. Maybe academic discussions aren’t for you if you are so defensive
