I love February. Lots of family members and birthdays in Feb including mine on leap year the 29th. Just learned trick raiders last weekend at our tric-KY con and loved it.

Even though my birthday (and my dad's) is in Feb, my fave month is August because I live in the northeast US and it is usually so cold here in winter! In August, I can hit the beach, go hiking, camping or kayaking camping (all good events to bring a deck or 2 of trick-taking decks!).

Oh wow! I certainly wasn't expecting to win. Yatta! 🙌 I forgot to mention, I think, that my favorite color is also blue. I know it's such a generic boy thing, but I love it. Especially dark blue, maybe even TARDIS blue is more accurate. I think if I were able to pick a color for a car I bought, I'd go for the Midnight Blue I often see as an option. I also love the Berenstain Bears reference. I also grew up on those (and Highlights, Magic School Bus, etc). Favorite month is an interesting one to ponder. I like Fall/Winter, or just temperate/cool weather in general. Holiday-wise, October, November, and December are pretty great and my birth month, March, has Spring Break in it (but I'm boring and more celebrated being able to play games and relax more). Tough choice. My gut says if I were trying to enter the giveaway, I'd say November. Trick Raiders' way to bid is so clever! I love it. This is my bid, but also the only cards I can lead with. So many interesting decisions, like you cover. Sounds like a great game in general. I like the idea of doing 3 lives instead. It *can* be fun when a game just ends right away, but I think most games are more fun when they go down to the wire. So true on the rules teach! There are so many times when you mention something as not likely (or very likely) and then the opposite happens. The funniest one that I'll never forget is when my buddy taught us Pandemic and said we should just assume we're going to lose because you almost never win, then we went to win the smoothest game of Pandemic I think I've ever played. We joked about "I thought this was a hard game." but it was just a funny coincidence.
My favorite month (that is also a the title of one of my favorite pieces of wind ensemble literature) is October (by Eric Whitacre). You tend to get proper autumn weather by that point usually, and I'm a big fan of wearing hoodies and light jackets when possible.
Favorite month is June for several reasons - some of the best weather on the entire year in MN, beginning of summer vacation back in the school years, the month of my birthday, one of the four months with 30 days....
We just crushed this on Saturday at 3 and 4. 2 lives is definitely enough. It was usually a 2 hand game. If someone had a super strong hand and was the aggressor and they won on the first hand, then I agree the game should just stop. With 3 lives your giving a huge advantage to that player in the next hand by having 2 extra lives. Also the betrayal card was massive.
After a brief hiatus from youtube I've been binging your videos, so much fun! For the give-away: October is the best month over here in Maryland. No more intense heat and humidity, great hiking weather. If only I enjoyed pumpkin flavored everything...
I was able to play this with someones mocked up copy and enjoyed much of what you describe. The bidding is unique, and the extra information you get from the cards on the table gives the card play a bit more spice. And the aggressive/meek option is pretty delicious. I agree that three lives makes sense. My one issue with the game are the powers, which I generally find overcomplicate trick taking games. And this one has what might be my least favorite mechanism - changing trump. There could be interesting decision point of seeing a hand with a bunch of heats and one of the trump changing cards, and trying to make that happen. But in general, I don't like what changing trump does to hand evaluation. It makes it almost too random. Since it doesn't seem to happen that often in this game I would consider just skipping that rule.

The lead into DVP from 'If this tour doesn't kill you' is one of my favourite album moments ever. Sheeeesh!! The Dream is Over is my second favourite, but I have just the biggest soft spot for Dark Days and Mabu that their first album is my fav! Such a wonderful band though!
I was trying to decide between Oct, Nov, and Dec and I went middle ground, but it's definitely a solid answer. I love Fall and October is smack dab in the middle of it.
