  • The cost for the longtail system is 75$ the engine is 230$ if you make it from wood it would be cheaper

      Thanks it is still a prototype in progress but all the parts are there. I would get a real driveshaft made from one piece of 3/4in steel with both ends machined at a machine shop and bushings or bearings instead of wood pieces. Look at my belt driven version that uses normal boat propellers and not rare propellers from vietnam. If i was to do it again i think i would install the whole thing through the floor of the boat (canoe) and run the exhaust so the end is underwater because it makes a lot of noise. The summers where i live are very short so i dont have much time to test it so i lost interest, hopefully you will continue my research

    Did the rope around the shaft work,,how long have you run it at one time,,it didn’t get hot or anything

    • @boatfabricationchannel2991
      @boatfabricationchannel2991  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes hello the rope works perfect because it absorbs water and it drips out at the top every 2 second maybe so not it never gets hot at all. Also there is little resistance i can spin the shaft with my fingers. I have run it at idle for 10hours straight maybe 5 times and then taken it apart and it was still perfect and it was full of rocks when i installed it. And i go 31kmh now with my new boat and the same engine and propeller

    where did you purchase the metal rod

    • @boatfabricationchannel2991
      @boatfabricationchannel2991  ปีที่แล้ว

      At the store but go to a machine shop and buy a 3/4in x96” metal rod and have them machine the threads at both ends or it will end up breaking

    • @nyantpag7391
      @nyantpag7391 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boatfabricationchannel2991 what ends up breaking? The screw off the rod ends up breaking where you welded it?

    • @boatfabricationchannel2991
      @boatfabricationchannel2991  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the end of the driveshaft ends up breaking because its not aligned properly. It can last from 5 seconds to 90hours. I have not done extended upgrades because we can only use our boats for 3 months of the year where i live so its kind of a useless invention for me.

    you deserve so much more views this is amazing. How many hours do you think those wooden bearings last?

    • @boatfabricationchannel2991
      @boatfabricationchannel2991  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! the most i got was 80hours then i made a new version and made new ones but they were still in perfect condition. Now i make them on the wood lathe with hard wood so it should last longer and probably never have to change them.
      Now i have been working on a version for weeks that uses normal (right hand)boat propellers because they are more available
