Good job!!! You are an example of what is becomming rare, a young man willing to make something with what is available rather than whine to mommy and daddy for them to buy his new toy. Very creative! I beleive you will go a long way in this world. I have subscribed and am impatient for your next project.
To easy to accidentally get to much weight in the back of the boat and flip the 10 footer nose up to high, like take water in rear high. without some counterweight in front of the boat.
not a lot the universal was bought in 3 pieces from tractor supply maby $50 somthing, and 12$ for the 3/4 rod and i cant remenber how much the 1" gas pipe was, and i think$150 for the backwater prop. and maby 16bucks for that carb off ebay. somewhere around 200 probably, maby little more. i should do a second part to this mud motor build i later lightend the motor almot 23lbs lighter i think its around 80lbs lbs now. and got a 6hp from harbor freight way, way better motor for the job. the 10 hp i was using was very heavy and throtle response was not good enough for me.
Nice build. We tried a mud skipper motor. The shaft came off and fell to the bottom. They blamed it on us and blamed us for other problems. Build your own
Justin Goins I understand thanks if you don't mind I have a couple of questions you may have answered them can you tell me how long your shaft and tube also what angle is your shaft thanks for sharing
HUX METAL WORKS I think the axle is 65 or 67 inches and the tube a few inches shorter. I think. I made it almost a strait shaft, but if I did it again I would have angled it a little,. To much and it will interfier with the sides of the boat while turning
From one country boy to another, outstanding work.
Excellent job Justin, very thorough and well documented! With tools and intelligence pretty much anything is possible.
Probablemente el mejor y detallado video de la fabricación que he visto de un Mud Motor.
Favio Ivan Garcia Rivera thanks

You did a terrific job I appreciate showing the measurements at the end that was a terrific touch
Instead of taking the crank out, can you just turn the shaft down while running the engine?
How shaft are made
How is it that you have every tool known to man in that shop?!?
Creative. Nice job!
Best I've seen son.. I on my build soon now..
How did you do the bushing and grease fitting?
How did the bushing hold up in water?
Beautiful job! Thanks for sharing!
Great video! Do you recall where you bought the prop from? I'm looking for an affordable straight shaft not tapered shat prop.
Just spotted in the comment where you said it was a Backwater prop.
Thanks for your help I'll let you know how it goes

What size drive shaft did you use?

Can you explain why you think the boat needs to be a 12ft boat instead of 10ft?

you should do a running video
Great build!
Amazing! About how much in parts if you don't mind me asking?

How would you register that? Just curious?
Looks like he lives in FL he got the rural King hood and all u do is register a boat here forget about the motor
very nice
universal joint not necessary
Lovejoy coupler cuts down vibration and allows slight misalignment.
That is amazing man
