I saw Natasha's hooded eye tutorial a couple of days ago and thought of you because our eyes are more hooded than then hers. Agreed, the beautiful eye looks you see on these young models with the giant lid space make it seem impossible to achieve. I really appreciate your reenactment, please please do more!!
Allison L. Here, here! Putting makeup on a 20 year old is so easy! Half the time, they need very little makeup to begin with! And do not get me started on the ads for wrinkle reducing facial products which inevitably feature a 20 year old girl who doesn’t need any anti-aging skincare, aside from SPF, to begin with! Who do they think they are fooling? Their demographic is not teenagers!
You're so right, it seems impossible to create some of these gorgeous eye looks I see because my eyes are extremely hooded and I don't have the space or the capability of creating the same look because thy do have so much more space and it looks very different with hooded eyes
I love the way you edited this video; including Natasha’s explanations, and then doing the side by side split screen showing you following along with her. I’m going to have to give this technique a try. Thank you, Risa!
Maybe because you were looking down, Risa? ND seems to put a large swath of visible dark shadow, boldly, from near nose to extended past outer corner, way above the mobile lid. I do think your version is softer, where only the transition color seems to show w your eyes open. There is a bit of shadow wing on outer eye, but not sure if your finished eye look is a replication or finessed?
You made a really important statement: we are lucky to be aging. The real challenge is to move beyond the images of the very young women with their lovely, firm skin and to find OUR OWN very best techniques and looks. And then feel really good about who we are now!
Loved this video. As someone who has hooded eyes and not as elastic skin, I appreciated you pointing this out on yourself! Thanks for the great videos!
I swear that my eyes look younger, more open/awake/refreshed when I DON’T put anything on my lower lash line or use any mascara down there! Glad that ND must agree!
If you do put something on the lower lash line, just use a light colour.. Bronzer tone or a bit darker. You can also use a matte bronzer to do the 'crease'. It can make the eye look bigger.
Same, i dislike how mascara and shadow look on my lower lash line, it makes my eyes look all droopy plus i have sort of a natural shadow under my eye so no need for shadow, sometimes i put a little bit on the outer corner on the lower lash line but only a very small amount and with a lighter shade of brown.
I loved this video, Risa! I especially like that you pulled from a source that I hadn’t considered. Thanks for not just dialing your videos in... we notice and appreciate you for it!
This was my favorite video you put out yet very informative very nice your makeup looks beautiful you look beautiful and you did such a great job of following her I'm impressed great job thank you for this video I gave you a thumbs up girl
I call the nothing-on-the-lower-lashes look my doll-face or doll-eyes look, as it looks very fresh and is a good alternative when the weather is particularly warm or humid. I'm a waterproof mascara wearer but even so that can run on watery blue eyes in extreme conditions. I'm also of the opinion the newest trend toward "foxy" eyes with soft smudged liner and a kitten flip on the outer corner is very flattering for hooded eyes. Great video, it was terrific to watch you doing the steps alongside ND's tutorial!
I just followed you following Natasha and OMG! I love the way my eyes look!! I seriously can't believe what a difference this made to my mature, hooded eyes. Thanks Risa for doing this video!
Natasha Denona's Instagram is wonderful! I get so many good tips and tricks from her. I saw this hooded eye tutorial and I already have tried it myself. So glad you highlighted it on your channel, always looking out for those of us with hooded eyes.
Thank you Risa. I am 69 years young, hooded eyes and wear glasses. I have been advised by my MUA friend, who worked for TM, never to use eyeliner under my lower lashes or use mascara on lower lashes.
Really? I'm almost 49 & I feel like I'm not ' finished' if I don't line my lower lashes. I can't do my waterline because it makes my eyes look smaller but I have to have a skinny line at my lower lashes. It looks wrong if I don't. Maybe I'm missing out. I need to do some experimenting. 😆
I love Natasha Denona tutorials! She's brief and precise, avoiding the unnecesary blah blah most make up artists tend to talk🙄. I don't gravitate that much to her brand because her products are ridiculously expensive, just as Charlotte Tillbury's as well. I mean, if a product "kills me" the minute I discover it, I look for reviews before buying it... 🤔 It took me 2 years to buy the CT Hollywood Flawless Filter after its launching..!🤣
This is nice to see...you following another tutorial so we can get a double dose of what works/doesn't work and how it's modified for your individual eye shape. Things I learned from this: Bring first color above crease so it's visible when eyes open, start with main dark all-over-lid color and do transition AFTER to blend, keep liner THIN (This is a game changer for me)....the mini-line for the fold is another technique I've been practicing. I love false lashes for some applications (I used to wear extensions), but it has to look natural and not like a giant spider took up residence on your face. Not sure I'll be completely on board with skipping everything on the lower lashes, but will give it a shot for a few days and see how I feel with it. So far, I find that a smudged shadow and mascara on the lower lashes actually makes my eyes look bigger. Great video and tutorial!!!
I've always been so insecure of my hooded and puffy lids. I love watching and testing new techniques for my eyes! Great video Risa I'm going to be following along with you 😚
Thank you so much Risa for sharing Natasha’s tutorial with us. I am one of her fans but I am not following her on instagram. I enjoyed your video and I really liked your make up. Please make more videos like this.
I think your makeup has never looked better! What an awesome technique. I can’t wait to try this. Could you recommend cheaper palettes for a similar look?
Wow!! this was SO Good thanks so much Risa. I am always hesitant to do dark on the lids going to try it with my ND Gold and BIBA palette tomorrow. Bravo for a great video xx
I thought Natasha's tutorial was the best tutorial I've ever seen. I notice she does eye makeup slightly differently to begin with and it makes everything so much easier!
That’s been my one grievance about lashes, because I also have hooded eyes. They always look so long and over the top. I’m not sure if you’ve done this but maybe you can make a video about the best lashes for hooded eyes?!?! You did a wonderful job btw! 🖤🖤🖤
I'm in my 50's with hooded eyes. I have several of Natasha's palettes but not the ones used. I recreated this look using the Elf Bite Size palette in Truffles, very similar colors and only $3!! This would be a night time look for me as darker and more smoky than I'm used too. Love your hooded eye tutorials!!
Killer tip for the teensy weensy wing. And I'm thrilled to know I have SOME skill...I've been doing the itty bitty line of eyeliner across my eyes for years. SUPER fun video!
Love your content Risa! I really appreciate being a women in her 40’s having someone whom is so relatable and down to earth. I have just joined the family. Hope you have a blessed, safe and prosperous upcoming week. 🌺😊
I like that look on you. I will have to try false eyelashes someday as well as a Natasha Denona palette! I am finding eye makeup much more challenging in my 40's! Thank you.
I totally love it!!❤❤ I'm definitely going to try this. I love all your videos and appreciate the hard work and effort that you put into this for all all of us!!😊
This is beautiful! I am sometimes afraid to use too much darker shades on my 55 y/o eyelids but I will try this! You look great! I always use lower lash line eyeliner so this will take an adjustment for me but I’m willing to try it ! 💁🏻💕
Absolutely loved this video!!! I have hooded eyes and I’m in my late twenties and I think I’ve always had hooded eyes and loved Natasha’s tips!!! I hope she does more tutorials on instagram!!
I'm trying this tomorrow! Do this again! I like it because I can experiment while being home. If it doesn't turn out, who cares, no one but my family will see me! I'm in my 40s and I really appreciate these tutorials!
Thank you so much for showing us this. I’ve always thought ND looked like a super cool, punk rock chick. Now I know how to do it!! Also, I recently bought a few pairs of lashes. I’ve always been satisfied with mine but, I just turned 45 and my hooded eyes just need a little something extra these days. After watching this video... I know I’m on the right track. Thanks again Risa💜
What a cool side by side video! The look seems simple enough to accomplish! Lashes make a huge difference but I’ve found that when I line the lash root line and add extra mascara I can get close, not exact but close. Thanks Risa, this was a fun way to start my day!
Lisa, I don’t comment often, however this video deserved a comment as I felt that it was a fabulous idea. It was very interesting to see you, as a makeup artist, learning from another makeup artist, it showed that we ALL can learn something new!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!
Risa, Risa, Risa! This was amazing! I LOVE the way you followed ND, with additional commenting as you went. My love of makeup has come late in life... I’m 57. I’ve purchased a LOT of eyeshadow palettes, but I’ve fallen in love with the Mini Retro and full sized Glam palettes! Your tutorials are fabulous, thanks so much! With love from England 🥰 xxx
I really liked watching a makeup artist following another artist. It was cool to see that both looks were fantastic but a bit different. Helped me see the difference of when I do a look I see and it doesn't come out the same.
I LOVE this technique!!! You look fantastic, Risa! Forget winged liner.....this look REALLY gives you cat eyes. I've never tried false lashes, but I'm thinking I need to rectify that as my eyes are also hooded, downturned, and NOT young (I'm 65). Thanks so much for sharing this. ❤
This was a fabulous tutorial! I've been struggling how to do my eyemakeup with my hooded eyes. I followed along with you and the results were fabulous. I did add a very thin tightline to my lower lashline and it looks great. My husband even complimented how beautiful I looked. Thank you Risa!
You are beautiful and do such a good job! I can’t seem to master eyeshadow on my hooded eyes but I will continue to try until I get it right. I agree it looks great without anything on the lower lashes as it takes you eyes above rather than below which makes your eyes appear more lifted. Another great tutorial ❤️
Thank you for this Risa.. I don’t have insta gram or Facebook.. this was very helpful. I’m 67 years old and still like to put on make up and skin care specially.
Love this video Risa however; YOUR tutorials for hooded eyes are amazing! I do love that some content is being made from Artists geared at my age group. You look gorgeous and I am going to try the no color or liner on my bottom lashes technique. I am not good with false lashes. The thought of clicking out of a video because of false lashes being used doesn't even make sense to me... I can still watch and enjoy the video. The steps are each optional. Lol - I do like it when you share silly tidbits like that. It makes me giggle when you pass along the things you hear. Thank you for all the information you share!
Uve become a favorite of mine, no one likes acknowledging how much things change with age. You do, so beautifully and honestly. Keep it up. People like me found a desire to revamp myself and do it well because I could watch you.... you get it. I wanted to say good job.... you made it possible to figure out how to handle things when things that used to work stopped. I look better with age, not cuz of great genetics..... just great tricks. Thank you!
It’s funny because just this past week I started using this same technique before even seeing this video! I find my shadow looks a lot better when I use this technique as opposed to when I start with the typical transition shade in the socket. Thank you for breaking it down so well! Love your channel!
It’s really really great to see someone my age doing makeup Tutorials and you have very much the same type of skin and eyes and everything it’s just really inspiring because I’m just now starting to figure out what I like in life and I’m over 40
This was great, Risa. I normally find Natasha’s eye looks a little over the top. Not for everyday looks atleast. But this tutorial where you also follow her makes it look easier.
I love it! I’ve been on myself for years that I have to get my lower lash game together but never do because I also have hooded eyes and think it looks so nice and clean with no lower lash work at all- no mascara no eyeliner. Just got the ND Glam Palette and I am obsessed.
ok this is one of the best tutorials I've seen and I love the look. I can't wait to do this. I just got into makeup again after about 12 years. I threw away 4 drawers of makeup that was too old to use and now am waiting for all my new makeup to come in the mail ..#excitedMUCH
I have had hooded lids my entire life. I have even been told not to bother wearing shadow because my eyes are so hooded. I love this look, and think I might give it a try while in quarantine.
Jackie Noon Even using a little bronzer as eyeshadow can create an easy crease. It’s a nice subtle look. I think I saw that in a Kandee Johnson video a few years back.
I just found you and I really enjoy watching you! It's nice to see someone around my age doing makeup. Although your skin looks tighter than mine. 😊 Your beautiful! I also loved Natasha's hooded eye tutorial!❤️
When I went through menopause , I lost my lashes I have maybe 10 left on each eye, then I tried eyelash extentions now I have about 5 or 6 no lie . So now I just deal with it . I try my. Best , lashes help . Great video thank you
Try a growth serum (I use Grande Lash) and/or castor oil. When I took off my extensions my lashes were definitely short, but now they're so long when I get them permed they curl too far and have crimped ends....a nice coat of mascara and they are now super long.
I really love your and Natasha Denona's tutorial on hooded eyes because they are short and straight to the point. When I do eye makeup, I don't do eyeliner because my hands are not steady :D. For me, I curl my lashes and use a good volumizing mascara, then my eyes look more open.
I would like to see more videos on hooded eyes This was a great tutorial! I follow Natasha as well but I liked yours because my eye color and skin tone is more like yours!
Hi Christine! If you look in the description box there is a link next to where I wrote “More Hooded Eye Videos”. That will take you to my entire hooded eye tutorial playlist. 😃
I loved it!!!! I ordered the mini Star ND at the Sephora sale!!! I need a lot of help and practice...I have a lot of skin between my fold and eyebrow, so it’s much deeper than yours, but we are all a work in progress, right? I adore you and watch all the vids...super love and health.
I loved this tutorial! I feel vindicated, because I rarely line my lower lash line. If I do, it is usually just a soft line that only goes a third of the way under my eye. I find that if I line the entire lower lash line, it tends to make my hooded eyes seem smaller. I really do think my eyes look bigger, brighter and younger (I too am in my forties) when I use this method. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, it is much appreciated!
Very interesting. I love it. I immediately tried it. I am so used to lightening my lid because my eyes are deepset as well as hooded. I am going to start doing this new way.
I loved this video! I have the mini star palette and never thought to use it this way. I’m 57 with hooded eyes so this was a great tutorial. Thanks Risa!

The other way around works for me. Feel good about one's self first. Anything one does on the outside (such as makeup) will be an added bonus.
🫰🫰🫰
Loved this video. As someone who has hooded eyes and not as elastic skin, I appreciated you pointing this out on yourself! Thanks for the great videos!
I swear that my eyes look younger, more open/awake/refreshed when I DON’T put anything on my lower lash line or use any mascara down there! Glad that ND must agree!
Pugs &Kisses I also agree!
With my eyes it just looks as if I have forgotten something...
If you do put something on the lower lash line, just use a light colour.. Bronzer tone or a bit darker. You can also use a matte bronzer to do the 'crease'. It can make the eye look bigger.
💯

I'm really into this filming technique!! Would you consider making this particular kind of video a monthly thing Risa? xoxo
GREAT VIDEO! Thanks 😊 Natasha Denona is Beautiful! 👏🏼💕👏🏼💕👏🏼💕👏🏼👏🏼
I loved this video, Risa! I especially like that you pulled from a source that I hadn’t considered. Thanks for not just dialing your videos in... we notice and appreciate you for it!
Wow I tried this and my eyes look amazing. It’s really so simple! Thanks Risa!!! 🌺 Thanks Natasha! 🌺
I loveeeee your tutorials!!!!

Two experts, one video! Love it!! Gorgeous eyeshadow colours ... Orion = dreamy! Thanks Risa & Natasha xx
Natasha Denona's Instagram is wonderful! I get so many good tips and tricks from her. I saw this hooded eye tutorial and I already have tried it myself. So glad you highlighted it on your channel, always looking out for those of us with hooded eyes.
It's like a soft 90s smoky eye, love it!
Thank you Risa. I am 69 years young, hooded eyes and wear glasses. I have been advised by my MUA friend, who worked for TM, never to use eyeliner under my lower lashes or use mascara on lower lashes.

Jennifer I. I feel the same. I’m 59. And I always wear something there !!
I’m 61 and feel I need something on the lower lash line. Maybe since I’m so pale 🤷🏻♀️
What are your tips for wearing makeup with glasses?
I love Natasha Denona tutorials! She's brief and precise, avoiding the unnecesary blah blah most make up artists tend to talk🙄. You’re beautiful! I always hear your videos in the back of my mind when I’m applying makeup to my hooded eyes ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I've always been so insecure of my hooded and puffy lids. I love watching and testing new techniques for my eyes! Great video Risa I'm going to be following along with you 😚

So glad you did this video as I missed Natasha's tutorial. Great video! You look fabulous, love the eye look.
love you, you are so true to yourself and helping us
That’s been my one grievance about lashes, because I also have hooded eyes. They always look so long and over the top. I’m not sure if you’ve done this but maybe you can make a video about the best lashes for hooded eyes?!?! You did a wonderful job btw! 🖤🖤🖤
Fantastic! Great job. My 47 year old eyes are very hooded and this was great!
absolutely love how you staged this tutorial. you look amazing! so happy to have discovered this new line.

Natasha has fantastic tutorials! Loved seeing you do this :)
Killer tip for the teensy weensy wing. And I'm thrilled to know I have SOME skill...I've been doing the itty bitty line of eyeliner across my eyes for years. SUPER fun video!
Love this one and hope you do more like this! Love your teaching and you!
Love your content Risa! I really appreciate being a women in her 40’s having someone whom is so relatable and down to earth. I have just joined the family. Hope you have a blessed, safe and prosperous upcoming week. 🌺😊
I’m going to try in the morning. Love your look.
I like that look on you. I will have to try false eyelashes someday as well as a Natasha Denona palette! I am finding eye makeup much more challenging in my 40's! Thank you.
Beautiful look on you. Definitely would love to see more videos like these.
Risa, that color combo and application method on your eyes looks beautiful!
I loved this video, Risa! I missed Natasha’s story on IG for this one so thanks for recreating this as I have hooded eyes too! Xoxoxo
Great video Risa. Loved this idea doing your makeup side by side with Natasha. Your final look was gorgeous as well. Love it!! 🎉😍

Yay!!! I am so happy to hear this! 😃
Thanks so much Risa!🌞
That's a good one! I like that you started with nothing on your eyes so I see you truly have hooded eyes. This technique is gorgeous on you!
She is so beautiful and her natural eyes are beautiful as well, I like to thank her for sharing this video and more to come
You are beautiful and do such a good job! I can’t seem to master eyeshadow on my hooded eyes but I will continue to try until I get it right. Thank you!
Thank you for this lovely comment! I appreciate it so much. ❤️
Thank you for posting this! I learned a new easy technique for my hooded eyes because you shared this!
Love this! This is one of my favorite looks on you that you’ve done!! Gorgeous!!
It’s funny because just this past week I started using this same technique before even seeing this video! I find my shadow looks a lot better when I use this technique as opposed to when I start with the typical transition shade in the socket. Thank you for breaking it down so well! Love your channel!
This was SUPER great!! I’ve been watching a lot of hooded eye videos but this one tops it! Thank you, Risa! I’m an avid fan of yours!
Thank you for this video, Risa :-) I am in my 40´ies and have hooded eyes too. I am so happy to see someone at my own age do beautiful makeup!
Risa, you look so youthful and happy in this video! Love your videos! 💕
It’s really really great to see someone my age doing makeup Tutorials and you have very much the same type of skin and eyes and everything it’s just really inspiring because I’m just now starting to figure out what I like in life and I’m over 40
LOVED the split screen!!!!! So helpful! Thanks, Risa!
LOVED this video!! I’m 45 & missed that tutorial Natasha did, I’m so glad you did this!! 💗💗💗

ok this is one of the best tutorials I've seen and I love the look.
Your eye shadow application is perfect.
What a gorgeous makeup! Totally agree with eyelashes part, it makes all the difference 😉
Her eyeshadows are amazing!
I just found you and I really enjoy watching you! It's nice to see someone around my age doing makeup. Although your skin looks tighter than mine. 😊 Your beautiful! I also loved Natasha's hooded eye tutorial!❤️
I really enjoyed this! I have very hooded eyes, so I'm always interested in tutorials to enhance and flatter them! Thank you Risa! ❤
I LOVE lashes and wear false lashes everyday (not as much since quarantine) but they are a MUST for me and yours always look stunning!
Thank you Risa! I loved this video! Very helpful. Now is the time for me to practice since I’m working from home.
You are a real person who is so beautiful inside and out!! 💗
Oh my Risa, your eyes are gorgeous!!! They look huge and bright without the lower lash line colors. Holy cow you look so much younger and awake!
This was fantastic! I have to get out of the habit of putting eyeliner on my lower lash line if I want to open up my hooded eyes! 🤩
This is my fav eye look you’ve ever done. I will try it! Thanks!
I’ve been resisting that palette for so long but this may be the tipping point. Beautiful look!!!
Thanks so much for this! Love seeing my type of eyes done.
I’m 60 now, so I reeeally needed this. Thanks for sharing.
I also saw this tutorial and now you are doing it yes yesss trying it today xxxx hope it goes well.
You have really good content! Thanks for these tips, I’ve been watching a few of your videos today. And yes, aging is a blessing. We’re beautiful.
I will surely try, I’m 53 , hooded eyes (right one more than left one😖)thank you Risa and by the way you look fantastic with this eye look😉
I love these videos! So clear and to the point!!
I Love this Look on you Risa! You skin looks so dewy and fresh as well! Thanks for all You Do!
I loved this video! I have the mini star palette and never thought to use it this way. I’m 57 with hooded eyes so this was a great tutorial. Thanks Risa!
