The 2025 Kia Carnival SX-Prestige Hybrid Is A Multifaceted People Mover With SUV Vibes

- The #KiaCarnival replaced the long-running #KiaSedona a couple years ago, and while its replacement had a new name. Technically, the Sedona was called the #CarnivalMPV in other markets since this van first came out back in 2002. For 2025, the #CarnivalHybrid makes its debut with a turbo-hybrid powertrain that delivers the most torque in the segment and #Kia is claiming it should also get a nearly 50% improvement in MPG's compared to the V6.

I've never thought a minivan could be sexy.
They're doing a great job not making it look like a Minivan.
I know right I kind of went one but it gotta be 4 wheel or all wheel drive3
My next van in 5yrs.
Why 5 years in 2 years this will be half the price. Hyundai's don't have the value.
@@Pauliepsi I'm broke. Lol
@@Fyahking619Do something to change that! You can do it man.
Buy the Sienna if you're buying it used without much warranty
Its 10-12k less the msrp (50k miles) after 2 years but definitely not half the price.
Love that front end!
Imagine a Genesis version of this!!!
Never thought about it but would really be cool
I don’t think there’s a market for luxury ‘minivans’ per se
Check out toyota alphard@@Bash-Toks
Uh there is, but they got NOTHING. Tons of my friends who drive cars around 100k want mini vans that look great@Bash-Toks
@@Bash-Toks There's absolutely a market for it. This Carnival is literally just a lowered SUV. Mini vans are "unpopular" because their designs are usually boring and bulbous. If done properly, there's definitely a market!
The capacitive row of buttons is brilliant! Keeps the dash clean and minimalistic. Very nice interior too!
Two improvements I would like to see
1. door track being in the window line makes it look cleaner and more SUV like.
2. Open up the bottom of the center console! Give us more storage!
Honda Odyssey Vans has the track hidden. I don’t know why others don’t do that.
I never thought I would like a minivan. This car just changed my mind...
Mine to ❤😂
The full flat folding seat of the Pacifica are a game changer for me. We need more middle row fold flat seats in this segment.
I was wondering why we don't see it more. Maybe it's patented
@@HeavyRayne it's patented, so no other manufacturers can do that
@PandaPhood Thats ridiculous 😢
@@lionintu that’s like patenting the shoe
I'd rather give up that feature just to not own a Pacifica.
Wow I think the carnival is the only vehicle on sale that has an actual opening second row sunroof
They took that from the last gen Sienna
@jxmar_ the kia has had a second row opening sunroof since many years ago.. I doubt either were copied off each other
@@yejoonyang9552 the Sienna brought that to the segment back in 2011. Get your facts straight
@@diemnguyen7335 the old sienna used to have this too
@@jxmar_actually this was common in imported vans back in the 80s, Toyota Nissan Mitsubishi all offered second row opening sunroofs
I own a 2024 carnival for almost 1 year now. love it for it's practicality and the technology it offers. the 360 camera is super useful. 8 seat configuration is extremely flexible. it looks like an SUV but has a sliding door for the kids. cabin noise is very low. One thing that I don't like is the safety feature, I am not able to turn it off, that the car suddenly heavy breaks during reverse when there's cars moving behind me.
I have that same braking feature on my Chrysler 200 C 2015.. it hard brakes when you’re backing up and some idiot still decides to drive by..
You can turn it off. Just go to settings and look/search for Cross traffic, there should be an option to switch it off. I have the same thing in my 23 Sportage.
@@vedantpatel9236 I turned it off and it comes back next time driving. I will check again see if I got the right setting.
That's a good thing. It might be annoying but that's better than you hitting another car, especially if you happen to be distracted while backing up sometime.
This will be an excellent competitor for Sienna. Especially since Sienna's have long wait times and/or dealer extortion fees. This could be a chance for Kia to put a real dent in marketshare. Pacifica Hybrid has had too many reliability issues, and it's a plug-in, so it was never a true direct Sienna competitor.
The sienna is history. It was never competitive even after its redesign
@@naveenthemachine yeah cause the demand is so high that supply isnt even nowhere near to keeping up lol. ur just pulling bs out ur bum
@@Jewls838 the sienna is overpriced and doesn’t offer anything
People are paying huge markups for a cheap interior and noisy engine and cramped quarters too
@naveenthemachine You have got to be the most disconnected human in the entire realm of anything related to the automotive industry. You cannot genuinely believe what you're saying. For once in your life, drive the vehicle you're complaining about, & look at sales numbers.
@@panzer_TZ Just gotta hope these aren’t subjected to the same markups that Kia subjected the telluride and palisade to when they were first new. Those markups were absolutely insane.
Best looking minivan on the market
Would like better IIHS crash test results than the last tests . I’ve been to IIHS , and the testing they do is exacting, meaningful and effective. Before you buy any automobile, see the crash rating at IIHS.
Or just be a better driver and don't crash :p
@@royaltyallen1162 tell that to the other maniacs on the road
@@royaltyallen1162Your logic is garbage
@@royaltyallen1162you should just stay quiet and not speak, doesn't bode well for you
I was thinking the same thing. If they fixed this then this will be a great option for many versus the sienna.
no awd option and no pano-roof option and no plugin option are the critical deal-breakers. end 360-cam for some other vans like odyssey is a critical as well.
I swore to never get a minivan.. But this looks great
Toyota is falling so far behind
I'll stick with a Toyota, thank you
No kidding
Toyota is ostensibly no longer in existence

KIA Seems like a smart company that makes good looking cars. The name Sedona is a good name. Carnival cannot help sales.
The only thing these are missing is the window shades being electronic....imagine how annoying it is to crawl into the back to drop the shades when you or the kids leave them up, or a baby in the back getting blasted with sun and you see it while driving you could just pop the shade up, etc.. SX Prestige should have that feature while the lower trims have manual shades.
Exactly, I am disappointed too. I have been driving a Carnival gas model for 2 years. I plan to switch to the hybrid model in another 2 years. I am looking forward to changes Kia will continue to make, by skipping this one.
This past January I bought the 2024 pearl white SX Prestige with the captains chairs…, I love it! It’s a great family hauler, everyone is comfortable with enough space for themselves. I drive with my 6 year old & 9 year old in the 3rd row, my 16 year old in the 2nd row, & she loves the heated seats in the captains chairs; especially when I picked her up after a track meet. The heat from the seats helps her back muscles.
The lane keep assist is not all the way perfect. It does stay in the lane pretty well in city driving when I’m driving straight at around 30 mph & on. But if I’m driving & there’s a fairly hard turn where the speed is 40 mph.., it doesn’t stay. Oh also during the lane keep assist, the vehicle likes to drive closer to the line on the right. I wish I could adjust it to make it a little more closer to the left line.
Over all .., I really enjoy driving it everyday.
My stinger lives on!!! In the strip for the heated and cooled seats! Thx!
Blue+white/gray interiors are just stunning to me
this is the minivan for future.
This is one of the best MPV for KIA.💯🙌🏻 And the Next-Generation Carnival for the next two years will be a splash for 2027. But this refreshed Carnival is amazing to see its changes it has.:)
13:08! yeah! it’s VERY important in front of a juvenile court!!!😂😂😂
Thanks for reviewing the all-new Carnival. 👏
Kia really pulled out all the stops on this one!!
Except AWD.
I guess there saving that for another price hike@@ivanlowjones
The "Kia Boys" gonna love this
Gone in 60 seconds
This can only mean the refreshed Sienna is coming soon to TH-cam. Finally. 😄
I really hope so, Honda already bombed their “refresh”. This doesnt have AWD and that shift knob is not for me.
Again, your reviews are industry leading. Best wishes Redline 👏🏼🙌🏼😏
Thank you! Your review is so professional and specific. Awesome!
Picking mine up on the 21st!
Just wondering! How much did you end up paying? In hawaii, there is $4000 mark up over MSRP + $1300 for some security BS they add on call PLAD. Thanks
@@jlcartoon for the sx it came out to 50k after tax, title etc but I actually decided not to get it lol. Super beautiful but waiting for a different color.
It was $47,400 before tax title license
Looks stunning for a minivan!!!
Justin Timberlake should be hired to sing SexyBack in the advertisements for this rig. It's definitely extremely nice. Personally, I don't like minivans... except for this one.
If this car was available in AWD, I’d get it tomorrow.
I definitely think they should bring it to UK and still make it diesel.. it'll be a good family car here where not many fighting for that size of car . Looking cool . Sorrento was just too expensive for what it was . This model looks much better ❤. Had Sportage and optima have Both been great cars
This looks FANTASTIC! And the interior is amazing too.
Disappointed not to see a digital rear view mirror. The new lights look great but I can only imagine that it’ll be all halogen on the lower trims
Probably like the k5 or sorento. All trims come with led headlights. Top trims get projectors, lower trims get reflector
This looks like an SUV to me.
kia is killing it fr
A minivan turbo hybrid that's awesome
Watch clacking that new wedding ring all across the cars lol
I would buy it the day it comes out in AWD
I think with the minivans if they change the sliding doors to the doors they have on the Tesla SUV that goes up would be awesome🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man Chevy should just offer the SUBURBAN with sliding doors. Change nothing else... Chevy please just put sliding doors on the SUBURBAN.... the japanese people have the crown suv with the sliding doors and it makes so much sense. THE SUBURBAN with sliding doors is my dream dad car.
I have kia sedona and I would like to trade with kia carnival hybrid....kia make good cars and the parts are very cheap compare to Toyota
There is a waiting list for Toyota hybrids And the motors don't blow up

Well worth the money, best all round family van. Am still driving 2015 V6 Grand Sedona👌
This has to be an 8k camera the quality is amazing.
Video work for this review is Awesome 👌🏽
I wonder which one is the pitcher??😢
I really wish they would do a full EV version of this since this is really what I wanted when I bought my EV9. Minivans are just better at people-moving and pretty much all on-road driving than SUVs. Then again, the lines are getting pretty blurry between minivans and properly sized 3 row SUVs that aren’t jacked up for the off-road driving that nobody actually does.
The comments of “AWD or bust” are silly. It’s funny how many people are so gullible to fall for marketing gimmicks so easily. AWD doesn’t make your car invincible in foul weather, in fact it makes the average (incompetent) driver more likely to crash in foul weather because it gives people a false sense of security, allowing them to accelerate faster without adding any ability to slow down or turn. People think that AWD/4WD negates their responsibility to have appropriate tires or chains for the weather, which is why you see so many trucks and SUVs in the ditch on their roof when there is a slight dusting of snow.
The side impact rating was not good on these, i hope they fixed those issues. If they did then this is definitely a great option.
What’s great about non Toyota/Honda brands is that they try so hard at everything. They know they can’t match Toyota/Honda reliability so they need to up their game in other things. Toyota/Honda I think doesnt try so hard for the same reason.
If they have all wheel drive otion, then it ll def be my car next
Love that front end)))
I'm late but I'm so excited about this video❤
1.6l turbo...never in my garage. And they still have not hidden the sliding door track on the sides.
The problem with all these "car channels "feel like they're just infomercial getting paid to promote all this nonsense.
best mini van in the world
Thanks for the preview. When you review the production model, can you please fully recline the VIP seats? I can’t believe the ottoman only goes halfway up as shown here. Thanks!
what colors is in this video, white or grey
What color is this?
Did they do anything to improve theft protection?
What are your driving impressions on the 1.6T Hybrid? Will it be sufficient when the vehicle is fully loaded? Is it better than the 3.5L?
Is this all wheel drive too?
The rear air controls are terribly placed. Love that the rear sunroof opens, great feature.
They should consider adding AWD into this. Yes, its not a must for most, but it is a very attractive option for some area.
Will the hybrid come with Remote Park Assist 2.0?
No Awd thats a deal breaker for lots of people
It’s quite disappointing that they made probably the best looking minivan of all time and they missed to mark without offering AWD
also very disappointed in lack of AWD. AWD is a must in winter months for me.
@@rafidnasrin2139 at least it has almost 7 inches of ground clearance, so it’s higher up than most minivans and that could offset lack of AWD a little.
Well that's why the Forester exists standard AWD and better ground clearance
Lol lots of people who don't know how to drive! 😂 FWD has been the standard for minivans....forever....and no one had any issues. That is, until people started sucking at driving more and more 😂
Give me the sienna reliability and hybrid AWD MPG all day.
Right on Bradley! Toyota all day all night!
But enjoy the uncomfortable interior noisy cabin old tech and cramped space.

This car looks amazing but I just hope it's affordable for those families that are looking at this as a cheaper option versus getting a Tahoe or a full size SUV
Another great review. Is there any thought to adding a PHEV option to the lineup?
I always hated how angular the top of the A pillar is. I wonder how long those display screens in the back will last 😂
Toyota sienna still gets 35mpg with AWD and no turbos. No DSG trans. Will last twice as long minimum. The Kia does look cool though.
lol the Kia doesn’t have a dsg either. Get informed before spreading misinformation
Sienna is slow AF, severely outdated, drones like crazy at highway speeds, and you can't remove the middle seats easily. You need tools. Will it last twice as long? Perhaps...but the average car owner has their car for 8ish years. Good think Kia has a 10 year 100k warranty. Carnival doesn't have a DSG. Get some facts straight! Kia hybrid will do just fine against the sienna's mpg and no one NEEDS AWD. Get good tires and learn to drive. Next!
Kia and Hyundai's eatings her cookies for the Best 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Is there any difference in interiors, from the last model?
Come in honda I'm a odyssey fan.
2015 honda odyssey 400,000 km no issues.
I'm disappointed that the second row seats don't tilt forward to let you get directly into the back.
No all wheel drive plus turbo, more electrical problems, the 6 cylinder probably wins out!
Mid cycle refresh on Sienna 2025? Anyone has any news on that??
Probably after it's moved back to Japan
what mic?
I must admit, KIA is making some really badass looking vehicles.. esp the K5, K4 and this.. love love the futuristic headlight design… but I’ll still stick to my Mazda.. 😂
perfect rental vehicle
This is better packaged and thought out than the Lexus TX. Looks far better too.
Agreed. The TX GH and sienna have ostensibly been discontinued
...yes a minivan is packaged better than an SUV lol
@naveenthemachine Surely you must feel as stupid as you are making yourself out to be.
Kia Carnival Hybrid gets 32 mpg and Toyota Sienna Hybrid gets 36 mpg for those that were wondering.
my friends are auto mechanics for audi, bmw, ford, Toyota and Lexus. they all recommend Toyota, Lexus, and Honda.
Will there be a spare tire?
Mazda did the MPV thing 30 years ago. I'm sure lawyers had fun settling that
This powertrain with auto stop start and 8 occupants, it's acceleration might be in questionable
Is this a awd or fwd?
What is the 110v outlet wattage?
What color is this one?
Kia needs to fix the 12V battery drain issue with the new model, trim SX and SXP. This issue is well known internally, but Kia won’t take any action on the recall in this early stage.
I would go for the bench 2nd row seat rather than the captain chairs
Obviously, it is targeting the Toyota sienna😂😂😂. Does it offer AWD?
The sienna is history. It doesn’t exist anymore
The carnival has discontinued the sienna
I just looked and it doesn’t. However, it does have 6.8 inches of clearance according to the video, so maybe that can make up for the lack of AWD.
@@naveenthemachineThis car is nice and has a lot of showroom appeal. Probably won’t overthrow the Odyssey or Sienna in sales numbers anytime soon though.
@@KNRS927 the sienna is just not competitive. If I had to get a Siena I’d get the old v6 one. At least that gen had a lot more space
@@naveenthemachine The Sienna got 36 MPG according to Consumer reports testing. No van can match that (doubt this hybrid will get that too), all while it'll likely go beyond 200k miles. Carnival is nice in terms of the tech and showroom appeal. I'm sure it and the Sienna are similar in terms of how they drive outside the V6 power, but 36 MPG is the trade off. Kia is making nice cars, just don't trust them to last the way I trust a Toyota 4 cylinder hybrid too, even if it's slower.
Naw... I rather have the Toyota Sienna. Toyota just dominates the Hybrid drive system. Im sorry but thats just my opinion...😊
Toyota #1👍
Right on Southside!
The carnival only has 2 cup holders in center area while sienna has 4. Best to have gear selector on steering column, it is a total wastw of space in the center. Stop hiding the buttons, should have all important control buttons array visible at all times.
as much as I want to get one of these new minivans... I'm keeping my 07 Odyssey with 160k miles on it. Current APR and dealer markups make these cars unaffordable :(
Nothing beats the 2024 santa fe interior practicality, the best
