I would love an in depth series of videos on how to repair dents, focusing on what tool to use at what time, and then the specifics of using each tool. If you were to add affiliate links to those videos, I think you'd probably make some money on 'em; I *always* buy from affiliate links when the creator deserves it. And you my friend, definitely deserve it!
I really appreciate how you show the usage of your body tools during a repair, but an in depth video series covering the minutia would be phenomenal.
Soapbox moment: TH-cam is so chock full of videos that do nothing but pimp affiliate links it's disgusting. But when a creator produces high quality content (like you do), I *always* help support them by purchasing from affiliate links.
I watch just about every auto body repair and auto painting channel on TH-cam that I've been able to find. I have learned more from your channel than all the other channels *combined* . Thank you very much for sharing your (unmatched) skill with us.
Awesome! That really means alot to hear that kinda appreciation for the channel and my video's. I will plan a more in depth tool usage video. A video like that is more time consuming but I definitely will plan that out and get one done. Awesome comment and thanks for the support!!
I thought i was going to be watching a ‘homemade’ budget video and i learned so much and felt like it was an actual tech school video. You’re a hell of a teacher
That's awsome! Appreciate the kind words. A lot more great content to come this year! Appreciate the comment and support brother!
Masking tape trick is the best for body lines. Been autonomy repair/paint tech for over 20 years.. that's one the best tips in the business
👍for sure!
That light idea was amazing. Well done.
Man. Im doing a refresher video since it's been like 10 years... this was perfect!
Nice work mate, love to see some nice blends and a full clear all the way up to the fender. Doing it right!
Really like your video straightforward, didn't waste any time. , videos like this are worth watching. Not someone talks about their dog in a coffee break. And what cigarettes they like to smoke. I'll be watching more of your work
Awesome! Welcome to the channel brother!
I learn something every Time I watch. Thanks Chris. You are a lifesaver!!!

Great video and explained well, one of the best I have seen. Thank you
Awesome! Appreciate the comment.
One tip. Dont remove the ductape after applying the filler. This way it Will act as a protection for the body line. Much easier to form a contour.
That would work as well. Appreciate the comment brother!
Good video. Thanks for all the great tips. The light on the gun is cool. I'm going to have to get one. Thanks again
Appreciate it brother! Thank's for watching and supporting the channel!

Yet again another interesting video for people like myself that are DIY painters doing it at home, we have the Upol high build primers in the UK but they are different to what you use, we have the S2025 which is good but there is no mention in the TDS about using it as a wet on wet or about tinting it to the colour you need but I do wonder if there is a difference between the 2🤔John UK.
Thank's John, appreciate the comment!
Bro you r super
Thank you so much 😀
Hi man, loved your videos. Just wondering if I can apply as your editor so you'll reduce your scope of work and enhance your videos more. Let me know what you think!
I'm Brazilian muito bom o o trabalho de vcs de fora tenho vontade de um dia ir pra ir

Wish I had the proper equipment to pull out that straight. Lol I did what I could with glue puller . Great video

We are working on restoring a '09 Honda Civic after our grandparents passed and I've done everything mechanical to it I need to repaint it top to bottom as there are a lot of spots that bare metal are showing but I stumbled across this video as it looked like maybe he was turning out of a bank and a rippled the passenger side fender in the front We don't care about that per se but I know it will be difficult to sand and to repaint with all that rippling in there, a new fender pannel cost about $150, So of course this peaked my interest. We're not aiming to make it look perfect at all as this will just be a daily driver commuting to work but if we could pull some of those dents out and try to fill in the rest a little bit at least to the point where we could sand and paint that would be great!
👍
Nice job. I've never used upol filler...I'm guessing it's pretty good if your using it. I started using automotive art a few years ago......best filler I've ever used. No pin holes...sands like butter...and no hard edges.
Never heard of that filler I'll check it out.
Miracle whip
👍
Can you do a video, being specific about the difference between sealer and a primer and what type of examples would be used for both, please.
👍
I’ve been doing tons of research into body work as it’s something I see myself doing as a career so I have one question that I’ve asked before but has never been addressed.
Logic tells me that in order to prevent orange peel and runny lines that I should go from top to bottom but I see everyone go bottom to top, does that make a difference with the quality of the paint job or does it just not matter?
Мягкий брусок для наждачной бумаги очень понравился, у нас в России не встречал такого.
Another great Video that was very informative,,,keep them coming
Thank's David! Appreciate the comment and support! Much more content to come!
Haha “Gunbud?” It’s literally a head torch thats been rebranded 😂. Awesome video though, thanks heaps!
👍
hi just want to ask a tip how to solve air trap in the body filler, you found it after several time sanding out the filler from the bodywork to smoothen everything.. any tips how to solve this small holes on the filler
Thanks Chris great video as usual. I have the same spray gun as you, but I can't find the cup adapter for the Saveco cups.
What is the one you use in the video?
The R500 or Eastwood? If so the adapter is spectrum # 57505 you can get it at harbor freight. The 3m # is #2 legacy series appreciate the support
my question is, would you be able to use an orbital sander instead of the that block sander? feel like it would be much faster, like it seems that using the block sander would be better to keep a straight finish, but would it be THAT much better to justify how long it takes compared to an orbital sander i guess is the question
I use mix stick to measure body lines..wile doing body work..keep it straight .I was dieing watching you mix filler...I half to everything mutch faster ..so hot ..
Вы делаете на кузов надписи? Делаете с помощью трафарета? Из чего делаете трафарет?
Which gum u used to pull the dent?
Thank you for this video! I'm working in my garage and my filler is getting almost chunky when I'm applying. Am I using too much hardener?
You are so welcome!
Awesome video I have a question I’m noob going to keep it 100 but can I use a da sander instead of the block .? What’s your take on it
Just to smooth it out a bit, but to get it straight you need to use a block brother.
What do you do if you can still see the primer thru the paint ??
Great video. What size nozzle are you using for the primer?
That was a 1.3
Hello, please I like to know why come scratch and broken the paint after filler and primer .. I want help because I have 3 car come same problem
Thank you
Please can u do tutorials for apprentice on how to fill a car with body filler and potty...
I mean d concept and basics of filling a car
👍
Thanks for all the great content, been watching for a long time, question, how do I get rid of tape lines after basecoat, prior to clearcoat. I was thinking just 2000 grit on the hard edges and then clearcoat? It’s not the whole door panel, 2’ x 2’ area in the center of the door. On the hinge between front and rear door. Rolled back the tape after Basecoat, and there is a hard line, just finished drying 10min ago. Or apply another base coat on the edges before it completely dry eyes.
Are you blending the clear . I'm not understanding why your taping off for basecoat.
@@GarageNoise because I taped off the repair area, repaired with body filler, primed and sanded the repair area, and then went out about 6-8inches around the repair area and 600 grit whole area. I sprayed a few coats of base, but did not fold over the tape for soft edges, I forgot. So now I have hard lines of base where the tape was after peeling back another inch or so before I clear. Have not applied top coat yet.
@@GarageNoise I suppose I should have done both doors, the damage was a Large gouge in the seam between both front and rear door, I was trying to avoid repairing both doors entirely, and just tried to do a spot repair.
Hi I pick interest in car painting how long can I gain the skills
Beautifully described . Please discus the actual technique of making the bend line so accurate . I see you use tape but how do you work to it . Is there a standard method ?
I would block down to the tape than reverse it and block up to the tape edge. Everyone has their own variation of this method. I have some other videos where I explain it.
@@GarageNoise Thank you very much for reply . I'll give it a go
How do you spot those high spots at the edge of the craters and how would you know you’ve tapped it down enough? What seems to be messing me up the most are those hard to see high spots like the ones you tapped down as you were pulling.
It can be hard to see. I'll tell you what I do before I even break the paint I get a good idea where all the crowns are and start working them down as I pull the dent. Then after grinding to bare metal I know where my lows and highs are. I apply the dye guide coat on metal and that helps along with a metal file and also getting good at feeling over the panel to identify those areas. Experience and practice will be the difference in the end. Hope this helps appreciate the support!
@@GarageNoise you explain in a really humble and sensible way . You were born to teach people
I have sometimes seen shrinking of the paint edges when wiping over 36 but if you feather your edges you will usually be good
say i need to cover a welded seam and use kitty hair. Would the right procudure be scratch 36 or 80 then apply and level kitty hair,Epoxy car, then poly filler skim coat, high build primer? This is for the sail panel welds on a novas qtr panel. Thanks man.
Grind welds, 80 grit then fiberglass filler over weld then standard filler
Can I put the standard filler over epoxy this way the fiberglass is sealed
@@Supanova70 yes, sand epoxy with 80 before appling filler
Hey do you use honey in your filler if you are skimming a roof panel? I am using Rage ultra with a long spreader sanding with 80. Should i just start with 40 grit? Taking forever even with the 32`` linear blocks
Yeah, you can use honey. If you're just skim coating it, it's not gonna be as high a build, but it will work really well
Sand the bare metal like you say with 80 grid then again with 180 before applying filler and use not a flexibel blok for the lower section and tip sanding block with holes for dust extraction
You want to apply filler over an 80grit scratch for proper adhesion brother. Appreciate the comment and support!
@@GarageNoise i think i have a language problem sorry for my bad english
My steps are repair spot sand 80 /180 then putty after putty 80/180/280/360
Then filler witch you call primer here
@@johnswinkels2979 perfect John! Your process is correct. After primer 600/800 and paint. Appreciate the comment and support!
Could you use this stuff on fiber glass have some spots on my 81 c3 Corvette
Check the Technical data sheet for this. I think it's ok but you might be better using fiberglass resin and matting.
@@GarageNoise that's what I'm using to fix the cracks in the fiber glass I'm talking about to level out before paint
👍
🏎
👍
you are a good teacher, but i would have remove the bumper cover.😷
👍
I have an issue on my 54 Belair where I could not tap down the high spots, they simply popped up somewhere else. So frustrating.
Shrinking the metal will take care of that.
How long do you let the body putty between coats? Can body filler be applied to paint that has been prepared with 320 grit?
After about 10-15 minutes body filler should be dry enough to sand. You can apply body filler over paint but it needs to be sanded with 80grit.
👍🏾👍🏾
Do we have a upol heavy filla yellow gold
No ,only light weight and fly weight.
The tape seems the best option I will start using it thanks !!!
👍
Do you need to sand primer coating? If so, with what grit?
Yes, 320 then 600 before yo paint
is it ok to use acetone to clean the filler before glaze instead of alcohol?
Just use spray away glass cleaner
How much for the pair
Wat are the names of the tools used to pull the dent
The dent tool is called a g90e all or most of the tools are listed in the description of the video if that's helpful.
Какой тип краскораспылитель вы используете? Сколько они стоят у вас?
This is the gun I've been using lvlp amzn.to/3uZWHRw
I've got plenty of video's show it's use.
@@GarageNoise Спасибо!
how can i learn denting / painting at home please guide me
Subcribe!
Can I use chalk from a chalk line as a guide?
Im sure it would work
The body filler part should be done in one coat and finished within 5-10 minutes. The metal glaze coat should be done in one coat and should be completed in half hour at most. I think the way he’s showing would take hours with all the extra steps. Also never let your filler dry hard far easier and cleaner to use soft filler until 80 grit. You must let the glaze get solid though
If you can do it in one coat that's fine. But you should never pile on filler to block it in one coat. It much better to use multiple layers of thin coats. Everyone has their own process if your experienced and that's ok for sure.
Great Job but ..standing a car beside Job will get the car Rough from spraying primer..😟😟😟
🤔
Gravy job with biscuit wheels
👍
What percentage of Isopropyl Alcohol do you use for a degreaser?
70%
Can I come learn this from you .z
👍
To me it seems like every body does doors fenders and easier stuff why not pickup cabs and tailgates
Probably cause that's what gets damaged the most. Although I do have cab corner and tailgate repair on my channel. Appreciate the comment!
Is there a job for me in your workshop
Not hiring brother.
How much is the cost?
I can't remember exactly, I'm thinking it was around 1,300
Where you located
Just outside of tulsa
Nice work 👏
Does Boeing use Bondo to build there plane 😂
I am a car penter. I want to work with you. my home is Bangladesh.
🤔
You said it’s just Bondo.Bondo is just a brand name. It’s actually body filler.
Your right!
No one expains anything about mixing any filler
🤔
How much would it.cost.to repair something like that?
