Thanks Amy! Haha!! I will try :) in my day job I teach first graders. That keeps me grounded and all the mistakes I make with being a beginner furniture painter definitely keeps me humble :)
Yahoo..you r using Annie Sloan paint…it is the best…only wash pieces and then paint. I have done many pieces and her paint is great. Beautiful job on these.
I do like Annie Sloan chalk paint. Goes on very well and no brush marks. I used it on kitchen cabinet in fact with general finish poly and holds up well, not as durable as probably dedicated cabinet paints but not bad.
What a transformation!! Looks like completely different furniture and no one would ever guess that’s laminate furniture. When I first started painting furniture (in my own home) I learned everything from the awesome Kacha and only painted with Annie Sloan, including her waxes (both sealing with clear and dark wax). Before I discovered synthetic brushes, I only used natural bristle brushes and still had really smooth finishes. I was so thrilled to learn this month that we can finally order her paints online! The one retailer near me is still a good distance from my house, so this is super convenient! Thx for this video, really beautiful pieces!💜
Oh that's awesome! Yeah, I love Kacha's videos and have learned so much from her. And I love Annie Sloan paint too -- it is really nice. Thanks for watching!
Hahah Judith!! I was WONDERING who would notice!!! I had to turn off the audio for a bunch of clips because Seinfeld was in the background 😂 I don't mind, but I'd probably get in trouble with TH-cam for it!!! I have been "watching" (let's face it: listening) to sooo much Seinfeld this past month while painting! :) Glad you can appreciate it too ha!
Hi Just found you. I’m wanting to change my chocolate furniture pieces to grey , grey/blue whitewashing look to brighten up my place. Do I need to sand laminate pieces at all if I use Annie Sloan paint? Thank you.
I love this. Thank you for taking the time to film this video! I’m trying to do my kitchen.. nervous about it. My favorite part of your video is actually the Seinfeld episodes playing in the background while you work. 😂❤ I can relate.
Hope it goes well for you! Trial and error. :) and that’s hilarious! I had to make sure not to include any audio from the show or my video would get taken down! 😂
Just one comment/question. I keep seeing people using wax on these pieces BUT I bought a pint at my local hardware store to try and it says you have to reapply it every 6 months. I don't like this idea at all. Is all furniture wax like thus or are there brands that don't have to be reapplied?
@@KnowCanDo Could you tell me what brand(s) you recommend? I have a round dining room table I want to redo and hive to a couple who WERE homeless but now have an apartment and need a bookcase and dining table (both of which I have). Thanks for any information. Have a Tony the Tiger G-R-E-A-T day.
Laminate furniture is ideal for painting. It provides a stable substrate and holds paint well when properly scuffed up. Best of all it’s so ugly that it needs to be covered up. No one’s going to bag on you for painting it.
Can’t believe the transformation…
Looks awesome and lots of ides to take away, thanks for sharing.
Wow! I would have never guessed that is laminate. It’s incredibly great. I’ve always thought of laminate as, well, cheap. This looks very high-end!
I'm with you, Kay! I think the laminate of the 70s looks a little better than some of the cheap stuff today, but still :) Thanks for watching!
I agree. Im really wanting to move away from laminate looking furniture.
Only you can help save furniture from the trash ❤ Really brightens the room!
Hehehe
Thanks Emily!!
Looks beautiful
The pieces look so much better...great work.
Thank you so much, Phyllis! I was happy with the outcome, for sure :)
I love it! I love you! Please stay humble and down to earth. That's what's so lovable about you 🥰

I like the beachy, driftwood look. Perfect for an oceanside home.
Thanks so much! I think so too. Much better than that drab old dark brown! ;)
Love the texture! And love seeing seinfeld playing in the back ;)
Thank you! And yes hahahah I have been on a major seinfeld kick lately!
I love how the bed is made not bombarded with pillows the driftwood color looks fresh
Hah! Yes fair enough. It's the little things, huh!?
Good tutorial.
I like the look in that room. Good choice
Thanks Leah! It definitely was a refresh!

Oooo I love it. Inspired me to use Annie Sloan! Beautiful job
Thanks! Yeah, I love Annie Sloan. REALLY good for textured finishes. Harder to use for smoother more modern look but not impossible :)

This came out great! Just recently finished my own re-watch of Seinfeld and had to laugh when the “Puffy Shirt” episode sped by in fast motion. 🤣

Lucky parents to have you redoing their furniture

Clean it very well then Give it a scuff sand
looks nice
Thanks so much, Kimberly!
I was skeptical in the beginning with the textured look. I might even try this myself great job!
Thanks! I am honestly shocked at how well it turned out
Well done! (yet another cute pair of earrings ;)
Thanks, Natalie! Pretty sure most my earrings come from my friend Angie -- here's her shop!!! ahillcreations.com/

I chuckled @ 4:05 at Seinfeld in the pirate shirt in the background.

Not sure! I’ve never reapplied wax and the ones in my house are still going strong a year later

Annie Sloan clear wax is by far my favorite!
Why does everybody use chalk paint? Couldn't you just use flat latex or oil base? And put a varnish over the top?
If you use latex or oil you should use a primer beforehand
Now, you need a room update!

Haha!! So true Clyde! :)
How do you not get paint all over yourself? Maybe it's just me :)
Hahah!! I usually do!!!!
Nope.
You lost me when you began sanding! Your video advertised no sanding... you wasted my time.
Have a nice day!
