thanks for sharing this tutorial! i think the little imperfections give the piece character! (and you are so gracious with your responses to anonymous perfection critics. bravo!)
I like how it turned out! I've never experimented with painting laminate before. Thanks for sharing your tips. I really like how the hardware looks too :)
Thanks! The sellant is to protect the paint and make it more durable. It also gives it a nice finish. If you don't want to use Wax as sellant, you can use a clear Top coat that is specific for chalk paint. I will be doing a video soon about different sellant to be used with chalk paint.
Thanks for watching Michael. The wax dries very well and leaves no residue. As far as resistance to scratches, it's fairly good with objects that are not sharp edged. Scratching the surface with a sharp edge might leave a mark. I have a big alarm clock and metal frame lamp on both nightstands for over a year, and no scratches have developed. What it's not resistant to is Heat. The wax will melt if a cup of warm beverage is placed on it. So using a cup holder's a must!
it's better to avoid placing sharp objects on it, but it holds on very well. I have a metal based lamp and alarm clock on top of it and it's been 2 years no scratch marks :) Mostly avoid heat as that will melt the wax finish!
Not at all! we've been using it since August 2019 with a bedside lamp and alarm clock and frequent cleaning with damp cloth and it's still in great shape! I did 2 generous layers of clear wax and let it set a full week before using it, I think that makes a big difference.
How did you find working with chalk paint on laminate? I'm planning on painting ours with paint with added primer. I've subbed, as i enjoy these type of videos. :) Would love if you'd like to support each other? :)
Thanks for your comment Lauren! I loved using chalk paint on laminate. it's been almost a year that i painted this nightstand and it still looks great with the paint. let me know if primer makes a difference. the chalk paint sticks very well on laminate without the primer, the trick is to sand it evenly before painting. using a fine sanding paper is better as it will allow a uniform sanding without scratching. i will definitely check out your channel :)

Excellent job looks great!!
Thank you! i'm glad you like it!
You will get a smoother finish of you use a white foam roller. It is also is faster for the base coat
thanks for the tip i will try it on my next project!
Really like the look. I just got a stand that I plan on painting. Heard that chalk paint is the best to use. Thank you.

Does the wax dry hard and become resistant to scratches? Thanks
Thanks for watching Michael.

Does it chip easy when hardened ? Is it durable ?
