Amazing to think in these days of plenty, when Vivaldi's sun has surely never shone brighter, that there can still be examples of his 660 or so concertos which have yet to be heard on record, but this invaluable set contains one such work, the G minor concerto RV459, as well as all the other works which the Venetian composer originally wrote for an instrument for which he evidently conceived a great affection, well suited as it is to the virtuoso roulades and trills which distinguish his writing for his own instrument, the violin, as well as testing the soloist with great demands on breath control in the fast outer movements and lyrical intensity in the central slow ones. It is more than likely that Vivaldi’s earliest concertos for wind instruments were those he composed for the oboe. The documents at the Ospedale della Pietà, where Vivaldi was a long-serving teacher and maestro della musica, reveal a specific interest on his part for the instrument.
That is amazing and encouraging, since all I can ever hear in coffee shops around the world is the Four Seasons? Perhaps someone could start a music company based on high resolution performances of anything not overplayed?
@@carltoncotter2614 The problem is that not all of his 500+ concerti are equally brilliant. Of course I agree that the Four Seasons are overplayed, but I could live without about 400 of them. I think Allah is better, for with Jesus and the holy ghost there are multiple gods, and that is of course not possible. There can only be one real god, otherwise he, or she or it, would not be a real god. So, since the Christian god accepts another god besides him or her, this god cannot be a real god. However, what has this to do with Vivaldi and the oboe?

Captain Yossarian agree with you 100% that Durante is great composer. In addition to it, during the nineteenth century, Durante's church music, became objects for collectors of “ancient music.” The demand for sacred works by Durante and other Neapolitan composers led to misattributions of manuscripts. During the second-half of the nineteenth century, changing attitudes toward church music, the Bach restoration, and the emergence of a view of history tinged with nationalistic overtones led to a change in Durantes´s historic position. By 1904, the “Epoch of the Neapolitan School: Leo and Durante, 1725-1766” had been replaced by “The Age of Bach and Handel.” The lack of interest in Neapolitan church music that followed led to a neglect of scholarly studies until the second half of the twentieth century, when musicologists began to revive the topic.

Sometime I wonder what kind of soul Vivaldi must have - was it made of pure gold? Always bright, as if ever ready to burst into songs. Even Mozart had his dark pieces. Not Vivaldi, the ultimate "feel good" composer. Thanks for putting this list together.
Well said and so true! I LOVE Wolfgang Amadeus, but OMG Vivaldi is THE ONE. Bright, brilliant, beautiful, super high vibration! He is my favorite of all time. ♥️
It's true -- Vivaldi's music is highly vibrational. Some of the arias from his operas and oratorios can be fatalistic and dark, especially the ones depicting war. But that's how they were meant to sound -- in his concertos and sonatas you hardly ever find that darkness.
When we consider the music of Vivaldi, the melodic cells are in general rather simple. This is the reason of his dirct impact. The genius of Vivaldi is what hee knew to do with these celles, adaptating to the tutti, to the solo, creating dialogs, contrasts, etc. Vivaldi acts indeed laike a ray of sun.

I think Mozart was listening to 01:55:07 Oboe Concerto in C Major, RV 184: I. Allegro - Adagio when he wrote "a little night music" Eine kleine Nachtmusik[a] (Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major), K. 525, in 1787 , arguably one fo the most profound classical pieces of all time!!!!! PLease tell me if any music academic has noticed this?

I now have a LOT of listening to do, and these Vivaldi concerto works will be a regular on my playlist.
Beautiful, and timeless, this music lifts my spirit, it reminds me of what is good in the world.😍😍😍😍
Amen thank you Jesus 🙏🏽 .I am praying for everyone who needs a Miracle. Only God can do the impossible, He can make a way when there seems to be no way. Today I pray God touches your health, your home, your family, your faith, and your finances. God bless you Amen!👍👍👍👍👍
@@JPGroen Thank you very much . God bless you and your family wish you a new day full of blessings, health and happiness 🙏🏻💋

Best 3 hours of music I heard in a long long time - and I'm listening to it constantly over the last 2 weeks ...
If you don't already know it try Albinoni's Oboe Concerto's, equally as good at just over an hour in length. You can't beat the Baroque era. Cheers

The best music of the Universe..
Antonio Vivaldi ... Genius .... The extraordinary and sublime Baroque music ..
Agree with you! Naples conservatories become one of the most important centers of musical training in Europe, and not to mention Venetian composers, its never ending story.
Beauty upon beauty upon beauty! God bless.
Such wonderful music. His music brings jot, love, peace and harmony to my life. I´m 64 and love Vivialdi. Thanks for this jewel
Lili
It's quite impossible to describe how these concertos make me feel, it's just that it feels that both my body and soul are transported to a non-place. I just know that I love the oboe's deep and introspective sound and that Vivaldi is really on of mankind's greatest artists. Greetings from SP, Brazil.
Jesus loves you, and is here for you. “Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” Joel 2:12

Thanks to BC, we're not only hearing more of excellent little-known works by great & lesser composers, we're also hearing more performances by players like Fabretti, Guglielmo, & l'Arte dell'Arco, whom some of us scarcely knew - & who bring great delight in their very high quality performances. Thanks to all.
Bach I listen to for pleasure and relaxation. Vivaldi is what I listen to when I want to get things done.
Antonio Vivaldi is my favorite composer and wonderful performer.
Our grandchildren have readily improved their studying skills tremendously since their wise mother has insisted they listen to oboe concertos while studying. It is truly amazing. She has also found organ and trumpet duets to be outstanding breaks in genere. Thanks you so much.
Thanks!
Tepper Michael.
Thank you for so many moments of joy with all that beautyful music.
I accept the masterful nature of Vivaldi's music, however, what Albinoni's music has made me feel in Oboe is incredible, and by the way, Bach's oboe and oboe de Amore, are heavenly.
AGAIN, EXCELLENT ITALIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC!!!! THANKS AND CIAO, UNTIL NEXT TIME TOMORROW!!!
I loved his music for the Four Seasons, then on a flight from Vancouver to Toronto I saw this entry on the music library for Vivaldi's Oboe Concertos. I love the oboe and feel that it's overshadowed by other instruments. So I listened...and was entranced. Utter beauty. What a brilliant composer.
And just about the right length to cover your time on autopilot? ;)
All the world has a big tribulation, is so beauty to lisen Vivaldi is to beauty to return at peace. Oh God!, thanks for this treassure, Vivaldi.

Beautiful sun.
Viva Vivaldi ! Music for our mind, heart and soul.
Antonio vivaldi composed beautifully from his heart making it the most beautiful music ever made directly from his heart.
Nonstop perfection. Thank you for posting.
There were many brillant baroque componists, but Vivaldi were the best of them- to my opinion. The endless variability, his vivid, toyful music should not be taken over. Nowerdays my regular program is listening of his works. Thank you uploading this excellent music, with out any adverisment..!!
Antonio Vivaldi is my favorite composer.
Antonio Vivaldi composed music from scratch that was expertise in the heavens above being such an expertise musician overlooking all other musicians that ever lived in the world knowing he was the greatest composer that ever lived.
Thank you very much Brillant Classics for this wonderful music!
Buenos Dias, me siento feliz, soy una hermosa 🦅
I also love Vivaldi because he wasn't your typical royal or elite. And he wasn't into Church. He would ditch Church to go write music.
This is a must buy & must enjoy 👍

vivaldi's music brings me to tears everytime, just soo beautiful to listen to.Is like a vanilla miuffin in times of severe drought.I have experienced music 'drought' for some time. This is my savior
