One of my best friends is a Ukrainian artist. She's amazing! That was an illustration she did for me to celebrate my 500th parkrun ❤️ isn't it gorgeous 😍
Well done in the wet & windy conditions. Only time I've ever seen someone waiting for a slower time...! (and at the moment you would have still finished before me). 😀
Thanks Allen ☺️ Lol, it was a silly bit of fun and then I felt terrible when they said about the algorithms! 😱 I'd never try to be a pain in the butt on purpose 🤦♀️🤣
Brilliant Nicola, love that you did all you could to hit a pre-allocatted fictional finish time and ended up smashing the system 😄😄 I've recently revisited the Double Decker after years of wilderness, so can rate that as a solid choice
Years in the wilderness made me laugh so much 🤣🤣🤣 I felt terrible for breaking the system! 🤦♀️🤣 Oops! Next time I'll run properly 🏃♀️ it was fun though... 🤫😉
Correct choice of chocolate bar, and genius level subversion tactics wearing Vaporflys to a race then taking 4 minutes to cover the last few metres! Great to see some ladies and a junior in the speedsters race too.
Ha ha I know right?! 🤣 My poor Vaporflys probably wondered what on earth was going on 🤦♀️🤣 The junior in the fast race was 😱😱😱 INCREDIBLE! Total inspiration! Some awesome females running too. I might try a different chocolate bar each time 😃 but the double decker was goooooood 🤤
Cheers Nicola. Causing trouble and confusion for the timing people. Pahaha! 😆😂 Looks a brilliant setup there and a good event. I've been very close to doing this race series but think it might be an awkward place to get to on an evening, when using public transport. I do have a 2 hour timed challenge there coming soon. Event is organised by See York, Run York. Ps. My goodness, how close was that finish? (13:07)
Lol, I felt terrible! I didn't mean to upset the timing algorithm 🤦♀️😱🤣 yeah it's a slightly awkward time of day for public transport. You need to convince a club mate to race and give you a lift 😃 the 2 hour timed challenge sounds interesting. What and when is that? How far can you run in 2 hours? Yes the finish was ridiculously exciting to watch! Couldn't believe how close it was! Made for great spectating! 🎉
@@NicolaRuns Think TH-cam have removed my reply, possibly because it contained a link? Jukebox Jive 2 hour is on Saturday 7th May. It has 11:30 start so time to sneak in a ParkRun beforehand. 😁 How far can I run in 2 hours? Did similar event in York last month but sprinted a half marathon distance and stopped. Love events like this because they suit all abilities. Each runner on their own mission, with their own personal goals. 🙂
Done many a bike race there Nicola. I had no idea they did running races. How did you find the hill on the track. Doesn't half zap the legs in a bike after a few laps. Cracking video, shame it was a bit wet and windy.
Thanks Tony 😃 I'd definitely recommend giving it a go. For some reason I find the hill WAY worse when crit racing?! I'd have thought that running it would be worse but for me cycling it is waaaay harder! I'm not amazing on hills being a time trialist though so you may find otherwise 🤔🤷🏻♀️
Lol sorry I know!!! I have 2 cats! As soon as it came out of my mouth I felt bad 😱🤣🤣🤣 I corrected myself though 😃☁️☁️☁️🙃 I might try a different chocolate bar each time but the double decker appealed as they seem to hardly ever be full size ones anymore?! 🤷🏻♀️
What a great course to run - stopwatch bingo - so funny - how to break computers just by running! I would have taken the boost or double decker - if only they made them vegan!! Thanks for sharing.
Hmmm... I replied to this but my comment has gone?! I felt so bad about breaking the computers... I was just having a bit of fun! 😱 But I've learnt my lesson ☺️ That's super sad that lots of awesome chocolate isn't vegan 😫 maybe I need to become vegan so that I stop eating them all 😂

@@tomb7427 not sure if you watched the video to the end where I said that it was a silly thing to do and that I wouldn't do it again, or advise others to do it. I apologised to the race organisers 🤷🏻♀️ was just having some fun, admitted I hadn't thought about it causing any problems. I had no clue there even was an algorithm... I thought it was essentially a large stopwatch! 🙃 We live and learn. Not sure what the aim of this comment was, other than to make me feel worse about it which you've achieved 🤷🏻♀️ everyone's times were correct though 👍
@@tomb7427 also I know the race organisers and they know I'd never ever do anything on purpose to cause someone else a problem for the sake of it. I was just trying to have some fun which backfired and I've learnt from it. I'm not perfect, just trying to spread some positivity ❤️
Do you ever get Shin splints Nicola ?? If so how do you treat ?? I’m training for Leeds for half marathon but current trainings come to a halt after experiencing shin splints in my left leg ☹️☹️
Every now and then I get the start of them if I do too much road running. To avoid them I'd run trails whenever possible and only race on road when necessary. I used to get a sports massage every 2 weeks and that's helped me learn what the start of it feels like so whenever I feel those specific bits of tightness building up then I massage them with my thumbs quite intensely (my tension tends to be around the front of my ankles just coming up the start of my shins and occasionally it'll be the tops leading into my knee) to loosen it all off. I'll then try to run on mud or trail/grass for the next few days/week (obviously I'd rest ideally) but no road running at all until the tightness has gone. You get used to what your body feels like and what's normal for you but only through several years of experience and trial and error. Definitely back off before things get too bad though as otherwise prolonged rest will be the only solution. I'd really recommend a good sports massage with someone experienced though as there are several causes/types of shin splints and they'll be able to give you much better advice than I can 🤗 good luck, hope it goes away soon. Oh and... I'm sure another thing that helps is that I wear tons of different pairs of shoes. I really think that helps there not be the repeated stress on just one part of my foot/leg 😃
@@qbrhino8875 lol I take it all back... I'm currently on Day 3 of 5 marathons in 5 days and my shins are complaining. Not sure whether to listen to them yet! Will see what the day brings! 🙃 They feel better after ice and massage last night but not 100%. Fingers crossed they ease today 🤞😃
Ooh good question. I think it depends... On fresh legs I think maybe just a handful of seconds, hmmm... Maybe up to 30 seconds over 5km. But on tired legs they made me several minutes faster because they're so bouncy that all of a sudden my legs didn't feel tired... They just felt excited! 🙃 How much is real and how much is placebo? 🤔 I don't know?! But I do know that I love them! I think they'll wear pretty quickly though so I only wear them for 5 or 10 k racing (even if I'm messing about on the finish line! 🤦🏻♀️🤣😜).
