Following recent events, running under 90 minutes at Cardiff Half Marathon was looking doubtful. I arrived on the start line not knowing how it would feel, or whether running SUB 1:30 for a half for the second time ever, would even be doable.

Nothing beats Harry’s ability to present a story. Smashing time. Well done.
🙏
You need to narrate an audible
It’s a great race, made so because of the huge support. That last hill though - I walked it in 2022, ran it in 2023. Took 20 mins off my previous run. And spotted you after the finish! Great time fella, well done.
Well done on the improvement, and yes, a crazy hill
Just done my first park run. Done the couch to 5k in august after no previous running and found this channel 2 weeks ago and inspired me to do my first park run this morning! Cheers Harry !!
Amazing well done 🧡
This was my first race HM in my home town, and the heat absolutely kicked my arse.
Comfortable ish at 10 miles then the long hill happened, forces me to walk the next mile.
Great effort Harry
Cheers for watching - really enjoyed the atmosphere in Cardiff that day. That hill was pure pain.
I watch a few running channels on here and Harry always delivers. Great humour, storytelling, videography and above all humility. Keep going sir 🍾
🙏
Doing the Lisbon Half as our first foray into the Super Half series!
Also, thanks are due: first came across Phily Bowden on your channel (parkrun vid) and she's now my coach so: thank you!
Hope it’s going well with Phildog
When it looks like a hill on camera - you know it's full of pain.
Bang on
Brilliant video, Harry! As a Les Croupiers Running Club member from Cardiff - welcome to our city! We run in the red and green vests that are scattered throughout your amazing vid! :) Feel free to come on a run with us if you're ever in Cardiff again.
Thank you very much. Cardiff was a fantastic experience 🧡🏴
At 3:36 that's me in my now 10-year old Welsh jersey! 😂 I can't believe I didn't spot you ! I was targeting sub 1:30 as well and just made it💪
Ah fantastic! 10 years old that's amazing.
Well done on a great run and cheers for reppin' the dragon in front of me, a patriotic reminder.
@@thisisjogon Thanks ! Your videos really help keep the motivation up. Smashed a fair few PB's since. 😁
Well done on your time 👏
Fantastic editing, narrative and run. Well done Harry
Thank you
i find it amazing how you can create such a narrative for each video. It's beyond any other channel i watch. Great stuff.
Weeks of work, thought and trying to answer the question 'what would I want to watch'.
Thank you for choosing to watch a JOG ON video when it finally gets published.
Well done Harry! I'm doing the Yeovil Half in March which I believe also has a sequence of hills in the 2nd half - eek
They can really take it out of you but if you know, then you can pace it accordingly - all the best with Yeovil and thank you
Loved this vid. You looked like you were flying through those ks until that hill. Shame about Switzerland, but it's a fabulous looking country.
Aesthetically, Switzerland can be incredible.
That hill was a killer but a superb experience all in all. Thank you for watching and commenting
It’s a great race. Support is immense.
It was a wonderful morning
Congratulations on the result, Harry! Looks like a fun race and a good one for people watching. Jog on, mate.
It’s a great atmosphere for many sections
These videos are inspiring me to get back into running seriously, hit a 17.53 5k and a sub 40 minute 10k in October but haven't trained since
Keep up the good work!
Fantastic Dave, wishing you well with it
Those are brilliant times, mate. I got a 37:55 10k in my twenties and have only just got back into running in my thirties. Trying to get the sub 20 5k currently and am close.
Cheers mate,I turned 40 in November,aiming for a sub 39 minute 10k and sub 18 5k this year
Good luck with sub 20,it's elusive at first but once you hit it once you'll have the confidence to hit it regularly
Very polished video Harry, as ever! 😊 Congrats on the sub 90.
Appreciate it John
It was great race. I love Cardiff half. I was aiming for a PB myself that day but paced it all wrong, luckily had another attempt 2 weeks later at Bath and smashed it.
Ah superb. Inside info, Bath Half will be a video this year.
🤗Your videos are never boring🤗
Neither are your comments
Congratulations Harry, great run and fantastic video
Thank you 🙏
Wow that’s brilliant, well done! And you still managed to talk coherently 👏🏻
It’s a method of gasp for a few minutes, compose for 8 seconds and talk, then gasp again
Well done, Harry. I'd forgotten how hot it was that day in 2022. I was only doing the 10k, but it was hard.
2023 - didn’t know there was a 10K?
@@thisisjogon Wrong year. I thought you were talking about 2022.
Love it! Haven’t done Cardiff Half as it normally clashes with Ealing Half Marathon. There are some tough climbs on that one.
🏃 Cheers for sharing Peter
Great vid, one of my favourite races. Living in Cardiff I've been to that hill many times and it seems fine outside the race, but it's always a killer when running the half! Didn't do great in 2023 race, the heat/humidity just got to me! Jog on for next year now...
It was surprisingly hot that day. Next year Andy
You are really quite inspiring, Harry.... well done!! My wife and I have our first 1/2 marathon scheduled for October, and we're setting a goal of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Your time is so impressive!!!
Have a great time training for it John - there is something about these bigger distances that become really quite fulfilling and as seen here the atmosphere just gets better
Great video Harry, and thanks so much for the shoutout to Lucia. She was so impressed 😀
Great to meet you and hello again to Lucia
Thats a good time. Best wishes on your races this year.
And to you
Another smashing video Harry. I’m all signed up to Cardiff Half this year, in the land of my fathers…this has really reignited my enthusiasm for it. Think I might give that plan a go - Aldous is (quite roughly) doing the 5k improver plan and we think it’s fabulous. Going for my second sub 2 attempt in a few weeks, so who knows what I’ll be aiming for by then. Congrats on the sub 90, that is unimaginably fast. Olivia
Fantastic Olivia. It’s a wonderful event. As demonstrated in the video, like so many big races, within minutes you can go through drums and cheering crowds to silence bar the sound of trainers on tarmac
Enjoy the experience and the journey to get there
H
Well done mate , brilliant run , my half stands at 1.32.10 hoping to go sub 90 this year 👍
Superb, wishing you all the best with the goal
Great Video Harry, An inspiration to us all and certainly the best presenter on TH-cam😁🤘
🙏
Well done Harry!
🙏
Well done Harry👏🏼👏🏼 I’m coming back from injury and have my first race this week. Watching this video has given me hope I need to complete it
Awesome Jonathan. Wishing you all the best with the comeback race, go enjoy it
Brilliant video as always. I am less than 6 weeks out from my next half (Chattanooga Tennessee) and I am going for a PB there! This has energized me to keep pushing for it!
Fantastic - hoping that your training goes well in the build up. It’s a wonderful distance if you’re geared up for it with a good block of running.
Thank you for being a member too it’s much appreciated as we build JOG ON.
All the best 🧡
Inspirational as ever Harry. It makes me less anxious about my first half at Farnborough this weekend. 🧡
Fantastic Andy, enjoy the experience of Farnborough
good luck, it should be much less cold too,
Absolutely smashed it Harry! Well done!
Cheers Sophie hope that you're well
good stuff Harry!
Hope that you’re well
Nicely done Sir! Great video, always a pleasure to watch.
🙏
Congratulations! Well done, and another inspiring video
Thank you as always Holly
Well done fella 👏
Cheers Simon
Heroes do wear orange! Excellent 1/2 and video! 🧡🏃♂️
Cheers Tony
loved this vid, well done!
loved this comment
Superb run, it's got me so excited for Farnborough Winter Half this Sunday, eeeek
Have a superb run Will, hoping you get decent conditions for it
@@thisisjogon Storm Isha did not hit until later fortunately so five-minute PB secured 🎉🎉
fantastic@@willbrown9332 well done indeed
Love the Cardiff Half! Well done, that’s an awesome time 👏! That final hill is savage, my legs starting hurting again just watching it!!
It was crazy Rhydian. Fantastic race - would recommend
As always such an amazing time watching your videos. You motivate us all to do better. I’m planning for my first half this year … if I can do it in three hours I’ll be happy.
Hope all is well Claus
Awesome run Harry well done, and even more impressive with the filming! Great stuff! 🏃♂️🧡
Hope you’re doing well Connor
Great video & result! Happy for you Harry! I was wrong when suggesting to you to do running shoes review, your videos are much more interesting and motivating to watch with original ideas!👍😍
Appreciate it 🙏
A fantastic video and result. Thank you once again for the effort you put into your videos.
I'll definitely be using the jog on half marathon plan for my next effort at the end of the year. It's by far my favourite distance to run 🧡
Cheers Dave much appreciated. it's a wonderful distance when approached correctly
I was there as well in my jog on top, was my first half marathon and loved every minute of it.
Well done on your sub 1:30. 😁
Awesome Rachael, cheers for reppin' the orange - it was a great race
H
Man, this one did not disappoint. The editing for the opening sequence was absolutely 💯
Congrats on the sub-90! Gonna give it a shot myself in March (would be a 19 minute PR), but would be happy to end up in the 1:35 range.
Great comment, it's appreciated when the editing gets a mention because it takes me days to just put a short section together
Wishing you will with the attempt in March, if it's Bath Half I'll see you there
H
Herzlichen Glückwunsch 😊
Vielen dank
We need more of these! Well done on a great run Harry! Sounds like you’ve had some challenges. Hope you’re feeling tip top again now ☺️☺️
Cheers Christina, much better for a strong 2024
harry this is another epic video you've made. i love them also the way you go about telling your stories is so captivating, keep it up
🙏
Well done Harry! As ever I'm impressed with the run and the quality of the vlog. Keep up the keeping up!
Cheers David all the best to you
Inspiring stuff Harry, well done!
Thank you
As always, a fantastic video from Harry! Well done, what a brilliant event, and an excellent result! 🧡
Thank Kerry much running love 🧡
Love the video Harry, inspiring as always. Can’t wait for the Bath half now after watching this. Well done 👍🏼
Bath Half here we come
Well done, Harry! Great time and another inspiring video! This past weekend I ran my first half marathon race in about 13 years and I finished in 01:38:27. Almost 3 minutes slower than my PB, but still proud to finish that close to my 28 year old self. Hoping to beat that guy in some upcoming races this year ;).
Well done - the half marathon is something else. Beating one's 20-something self is highly satisfying, wishing you all the best in that mission
Great running Harry, and as always, incredible story telling!
Thank you
Was wondering when this one would come out, remember seeing you at the 3k mark, and hoping I'd catch myself on film 😂 I did, 9:19, purple vests, result
Next time Harry, hope you enjoyed the race.
Awesome job Harry, congratulations firstly and another great Jog On video as ever. You are such an inspiration to so many of us. JOG ON #goforthatrun.
Cheers Gordon, just packed up a JOG ON cap for you!
@@thisisjogon thanks Harry, now I’ll be uniformed from head to feet now in JOG ON gear!!!!
Once again an amazing video. You’re such an inspiration and your love of running shines through in these videos. I ran my first 10K in December with a goal of breaking the one hour mark, and did it in 59:28. Got my next 10K in March and hope to beat 55 minutes. Hope to run my first half marathon later this year. Your videos get me excited for meeting those challenges head on!
Fantastic comment. Wishing you every success as you push towards sub-55. The half marathon somehow just kicks the atmosphere and drama up a notch so go enjoy it.
Love your presenting style 😊
Best kind of comment
Great video as ever. Only downside is we don’t get enough of them!
Appreciate you being here when they're published
Smashed it. That hill towards the end really looked like hell, especially after running 18K before hand aha.
It was horrendous
Cheers for watching Samuel
Great work harry! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
💪
Great to see more members of the community in the video and another superb video and achievement by you, Harry. consistency is key and you have proven that with your times in 2023, lets see what 2024 bring us all.
2024 here we come Mr Top order no. 1
Not sure I could tackle a half marathon but feel inspired by this, I’ve just progressed from 5 to 10k at age 63 and feel ok so maybe I should give it a go one day!
I think you could do it so long as you take it slow and build up over months. I started 5ks and am now itching to get going on some 10ks but am letting my body catch up first. Kind regards, mate.
It all depends what you want to do. A half will be possible if you approach it correctly and have the desire to run that far. Wishing you all the best with 2024
@@goodyeoman4534 you’ve got the right approach, I’m cautious because injury would defeat the point so its a question of building slowly.
A random midweek Jog On upload? 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
🙌
Fantastic run, Harry! Hope the Switzerland illness didn't impact you too much. Happy new year! =D
Cheers Mike and happy new year to you
Incredible Harry! 🎉🎊🏅
A new half PB in 2024? 😉
Let’s hope so Steven
Just saw a couple of video's of you. Inspiring and think everyone who run ( and it doesnt matter if you run a hm in 2 hours 1.45 sub 1.30 etc) and watch your videos recognise one way or another certain aspects in it. But what i wanted to say. Saw your 5 k time sub 18 and 10 k sub 38 so you should in theory really run under sub 1.24. ( I never run under 38 in a 10k or 18 min in a 5k but hm pb is 1.24. 29. ) Good Lucky with your running Journey and movies.
I've never met an Englishman who can say my name correctly first time.... and goes and does it running a 1.27 HM!! Class, JOG ON
The man
The myth
The legend
Guto
Watching this is getting me so excited to get back into running and racing! Great vid as always :)
Thanks Katie
Absolutely warrior Harry 💪 🧡
🧡
I'm 61, so my goals & PBs are considerably different to yours, but quite simple: (a) my 10k finish time must beat my age (2023 PB 49:57) and (b) my 13.1 finish time must beat my age x2 (2023 PB 1:58:03). Otherwise, I just keep to myself and Jog On. Thanks for the entertaining videos!
Many thanks for the comment and JOG ON yourself
Best race narration ever
🧡
Now then Harry, to run that time whilst commenting and filming is rather splendid. Well done.
The only downside is it always looks like I’m not working as hard as I am. What you don’t see here is about 1 hour and 17 minutes of pushing/not filming
doing my first half in 3 weeks....id be happy with a 2hr
Have a great time
Well done mate you smashed it Harry 😊👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
Cheers David
Well done Harry 💪🏼
💪
Harry's facial expressions are hilarious
Brilliant! Well done Harry. Great race and great video. Is the next target a race with an even longer name?
A great target Charmian. Unsure how many race titles are out there that provide even more of a mouthful than this one
Well done! Must give you confidence to think can do a PB in the year ahead.
It does Tim, we shall see what awaits
Love your content man! As a guy who’s lost 120 lbs since starting his running journey 5 years ago I find your videos inspiring. And I love your humility and sense of humor as you go for your goals. I have to say, as a guy with 17:40 PR for the 5K.. I’d think you’d be well below 90 mins for the half. My 5K PR for a road course is in the low 17s and my PR for the half is 80:22, run in late 2022. Then, last year I ran a 17:28 in August, and wound up running 82 mins in October on a course with 1,300 ft elevation gain … which I think more or less translates into the same type of result as 2022. With 17:40, I’d initially estimate you’d be anywhere from 80-83 mins. Don’t sell yourself short! Considering I keep getting low 17s in the 5K, I’m shooting for a sub 1:20 in two months on a downhill course. All my best to you!
Thank you for sharing
@@thisisjogon thank you Harry! Lmk how your next half goes. I think you easily have a sub 1:25 if you want it. I ran 1:19:31 three weeks ago. In the lead up I did a 16:52 5K on the track. Like I said being in the high 17s you should be in the 1:20-1:25 range.
The composed look you showed on camera despite struggling reminds me when I used to do the same when seeing an attractive runner head towards me in the opposite direction 🙄…..anyway, another excellent vid, and that PB is just waiting to be taken 👍
The PB is being shot at again this March
Great video
Cheers Michael
Da iawn. Do Loch Ness marathon October for a half PB. Starts like a ski jump.
Diolch
Watching this video makes me more excited to do the Cardiff half now :)
Awesome Andre
Harry, from the US, I hear so much about “rainy” Great Britain. Yet from watching your races it either looks no different from my NYC area, or you’re a very lucky event date picker. Which is it..?
Superb question. I get very lucky. It's become a bit of an inside joke that I somehow seem to select dates with great weather. However, we did recently host a meet-up and all the luck left: it was miserably wet.
Hello to the US.
Hey harry great run and great video.
I see you upgraded your watch what did you go for looks like another garmin
It is - Forerunner 265, Garmin kindly sent it, no obligation, no sponsor. Very much enjoy Garmin.
Simply brilliant
🙏
Please pump out more content, I really believe you’re so close to blowing up
💥
Get more base and tempo runs this winter season and you will easily pass sub 1:20
easily
Well done Harry 👏 how did the X2s feel over the distance? I've only used them for a 5/10k race
Personally found them great Mark, you’re right to question it, you’ve got to be comfortable with the shoe because you’re in it for a long time
@@thisisjogon absolutely agree I've ran a 17:33 5k and a 36:36 10k in them they are by far the best shoe I've ever raced in. I'm currently training for Manchester marathon so will give them a try over the longer distance 👌🏃
SECOND :) looks a good course this, great upload H. Alistair
Thanks Alistair
Well done Harry great run pb next time. Louise must have put some miles in catching & filming you at different points around the course.
Not this time, just standing in 3 locations, an easier day than usual. Thanks for watching this one Rob
that little climb up fairoak road is a nightmare
Yup.
🎉🎉🎉🎉😊 well done
🎉
Great video presentation and content. It's put me off aiming for 1:29 thou on a half. I just don't have the time to commit. I know I can't sustain that pace past 10km. Just being realistic ill aim for 1:35 -40. Nice one Harry
Never say never. Cheers for watching a JOG ON video 🧡
Never say never. Cheers for watching a JOG ON video 🧡
I started running in November 2023 and just did my first half marathon in bath two tunnels at 1:39:09. My next is Cardiff half marathon. I want to go 1:35 and eventually do under 1:30 one day
All the best with your training
