    Your biggest mistake was interviewing Guruji 5 years ago where you stepped down to a lower pedestal and gave all the limelight to such a malicious guy who eventually ruined the tech community. Youth today is influenced by such selfish, dishonest and materialistic influencers because their intentions were not challenged in time by the people who had the power to do so rather almost everyone wanted to be friends with the kid with the fancy toys. I have always admired your honesty and sincerity, it feels sad that people today dont understand the value of the gold which you can provide them all because they are blinded by the bling.

    As a 20 year old kid, this video deeply resonated with me and was an epiphany for me. You could say it opened my eyes. It's true, my friends are getting latest and greatest smartphones and laptops, bike and even some of them have cars. For the note, I'm lucky to be born in a well to do family so I also have this stuff but there is a desire to get the latest shiniest stuff on the market. And I think this will help me manage funds much better in the future and save me and others who listened to you carefully from debt traps from this experience you shared❤️.
    I have a request, can you make a video on money management and savings?

    In short, jitna chaadar hai utna hi pair failao. If not today, tomorrow you will have the money to fulfill your dreams.... work hard fulfill your necessities and then fulfill your dreams.
    I can totally relate to this story... I was roaming around in my mid twenties looking for a job with only a diploma in my hand, because that was the maximum my family could afford at that time. Now, I'm 49, and I have much more experience in the automotive sector than anyone else.
    Ab mere paas gaadi hai, ghar hai, Maa bhi hai... all because of MY hardwork and spending wisely. From assembling engines to becoming the GM of the same company in which I slogged day and night, I have come a long way and I'm in tears when I recollect this... from a small house without curtains in Kolkata, I'm in a 4BHK house in Chennai. From borrowing a bike from my cousin for a day to driving my own Compass, I have come a long way.
    And yes, I have fortunately followed all the things you have mentioned in your video... Even if this video doesn't get the reach it deserves(hopefully it does get the reach) it'll always be close to my heart and motivate me to work harder and spend smarter.
    I still drive my old CT100 which I bought when I came to Chennai back in 2004... it motivates me to continue the grind.

    That's a very good advice, I personally prefer to buy on EMI only if I have the full amount for outright purchase. I go with EMI only if I am getting any additional offers/ discounts/ freebies, etc.

    • @nagarjunayt
      @nagarjunayt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Agreed. When you can afford a product outright and still see offers or no cost EMI option, why not go for it. But you should also ensure that you invest your amount elsewhere to gain returns. Else, with inflation, the value of that money goes down.

    (old viewer) You need to make more videos on topics like these. I am still using realme 1 (purchased after watching your review) because it's still working well. Last year my friends for saying to me to buy a new phone and I could have purchased it in cash because luckily I am doing internships and since I was 18 (22 now) but I learned digital marketing instead of buying a phone and god I am happy with my decision. After the course ended I got a job even before graduating and that added 1 year of experience in my academic profile and I have a (touchwood) good portfolio of stocks now because I did sips. planning to make my profile even stronger for good-paying jobs and high-ranked universities for MBA. (phone is still working fine) 🙂.

    Right on point. What I plan on doing is, instead of buying a phone on EMI, I ll buy a phone I can afford, and then immediately start investing in an SIP of about 1k per month only for phone. The phone should easily last around 2 years, which means I ll have atleast 24k(even more if you include compounding) after two years due to this SIP. Then I ll have sufficient money to buy a new phone with this money. Repeat. I read this strategy on a nice personal finance article.
    You'll also have the motivation to keep using your phone as you can buy a better phone if you use the current phone for longer time.
    Is your dream phone 5k more than your funds? Easy, just use your current phone for 5 more months and you can afford it.

    I totally agree and follow the delayed gratification method every time my brain falls in love with a costly gadget or vehicle.
    It has helped me in a lot instances. After delaying it, i always end up realizing that i don't really need it after all.
    One doubt or suggestion i have is, if i can afford the full amount with me, why can't I still go for loan, you do end up paying the interest , but then over the duration the amount's value reduces and would be negligible. Also, if you put that bulk amount in a good low risk fund or share, you get that added benefit as well.

    Though the motive and intention of this vlog is appreciated , dear Ranjit you have been an indirect influencer of luxury be it your headphones,TV,Refridgerator,Mobiles, watches and now automobiles .If your intention was not to propagate luxury, then it means you're bragging with the so called toys of material desire. Yes its personal and you have all the wholesome right to possess all these but why make an ugly display of it to the subscribers of your channel who are students and youngsters who are on their first job. I have been a your subscriber for the past 7 years and am a big fan of your honesty, sincerity and uncompromising integrity in every review of yours but with a bleak increase in subscribers for the past 2 years your concept has c hanged drastically wherein you opted for a new channel to showcase your toys to prove the disdaining concept of lifestyle. you only opt for a luxury brand for the sheer intention of showcasing and displaying deplorable snobbishness and that's why everyone in this country is opting for luxurious commodities and not for value despite realising the depreciation aspect of it. still cant get your philosophy and preachig. and you made us believe in your nuances of financial planning by your luxurious toys which turns out to be a farce for the initiated ones of the mob. if you could have made vlogs to share your lessons in financial planning which enabled you to buy these toys that should have inspired the subscribers to consider you with a commendable value and desired aplomb. hope you're getting my message. kudos to your traits and best wishes.

    Ranjit Sir, really loved this video. The advise provided is really valuable. I have one doubt. Recently I started earning better salary after working for 4-5 years. I struggle to find the right amount which I can afford to spend by still maintaining good savings/investments. I believe now is the time to save more money so that money itself can bring me more money in the future. Please advise me on how to determine our affordability for both needs/wants if possible. Thankyou.

    • @immanuels7181
      @immanuels7181 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think its pretty obvious. For eg, you earn 2L per month. At least 40% of your salary you should not touch. Just put it straight into your savings. In the rest 60%, you can have 40% for your monthly expenses, which will leave you 20% of your salary. In which, you can spend 5 - 10% for your wants (desires), and the rest 10 - 15% for spending per month or that also can be put into savings. This depends upon your earnings. Your affordability on your needs and wants totally depends upon your earnings. Hope this helps you :)

    For mobile phones, I agree with what Ranjit said. Although for cars like BMW which costs around 80 lakhs, I'd say not to buy them by paying all the amount you saved. Keep those funds with you. Maybe put 50-60% on down payment and buy the car on loan. This is for any health emergencies that may come up.
    If you have already been saved for health emergencies, then it's up to you.

    But I believe you can take loans for buying expensive stuff if you can by it without the loan in cash and you have opportunities to invest that cash in places that will generate more return than the interest you pay on the loan and remember loan interest is tax deductible.
    Just remember guys loans is a high risk high return strategy .
    Analogy time : Operating without loans is like driving at 25km/h you will not reach you destination quick but will probably be safe and if something untoward does happen it will be minor .
    Operating with loans is like driving at a 100km/h ( increase or decrease the speed according to your liking depending on the amount of loan) you will reach fast , its riskier , higher chance of accident and if there is an accident it will be severe

    No sir, For cars we have to take a loan bcoz of Income Tax stuff. I think loan is a good option for Cars, Bikes etc if you are gonna keep them for 8-10 years.

    Hello Ranjit Sir,
    I love your videos and very dependent on your honest opinion on gadgets.
    To be honest, I would disagree with your point for education loans. The current education system is very competitive and exploiting in my honest opinion. Educational institutions claim courses to be of "great value" and advertise rigorously to get more potential cash cows in name of students. They claim great brand value in their Institution in terms of placements and charge exhorbitant fees. But in reality the placement we receive are pure rubbish and tarnish our skill value in terms of job role and compensation. Students to avoid forming a big dent in their parent's finance, they tend to take education loans and these loans are not cheap with minimum 11 to 16% interest rate.
    I would suggest take the same approach one would take for a vehicle loan. Look if t he Institution and it's course is really viable to take an education loan. Else in your young life you will be trapped in financial burden and won't be able to properly save for future to supposedly buy a house or for family planning.

    Always buy something because you genuinely like something & find it useful, NOT TO FLAUNT IT.
    I have a new 125cc scooter. It costed me ₹1.13 lakhs (still costs less than the iPhone 14 Pro LOL) and it works just fine! But most of my friends buy super fancy bikes that cost ₹2+ lakhs.
    Don't buy anything you can't afford.

I hope people that are/going to earn good salary learn how to manage your desires and finance, especially the people who themselves or their family has not seen such huge salaries. Our schools don't teach us how to keep away from this extortion racket from the system. Thanks again!

    I don't agree.. Invest the money somewhere and buy stuff on loan.. EMI rates are 7-9% and average return on mutual fund investments in atleast 10-12%.. So 2-3% is your profit.. Also instead of giving whole money to car or bike company, keep it for emergencies.. Loans repayment can wait But severe health issues will not..
