The implicit message of this video is not to ask everyone start something of their own.
    It is to identify
    - if you belong to the top 2 or 3 percentile of that particular field in terms of subject matter expertise/skill
    - if you have the freedom to choose an irregular income over a monthly salary
    - if you have the patience, perseverance and motivation to keep moving forward no matter what comes in your way
    - if you have the ability to showcase your skills to the target audience
    - if you have the risk appetite to live and sail through any ups and downs that you encounter in your entrepreneurial journey
    So, think before you act.

The top 2%-3% thing mentioned is NOT true in the internet age. In a services based business brand matters more, the best freelancers are the most well known not the most skilled. Freedom & free time is true wealth. I started my business journey 2 years ago with $0 and a laptop & I'm loving it. Right now having my own E-commerce business and creating several SaaS. Have you started your own business as well?

@@armada70 Good that you found your calling. While it's good as long as it lasts, can you create a business for perpetuity? Something which lives on without you. How long can Ranjit himself survive with what he's doing now forever! I don't have a business. But when I think about one, what worries me is how long it lasts..

    • @nagarjunayt
      @nagarjunayt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@armada70 in the long run what matters even for a Services based business is the service quality and not just the brand recall.
E.g. IIPM had the best recall for a B-School 10 yrs back. Where is it now! Kodak and Nokia were synonyms for camera and mobile phones. Where are they now!

I had completed CDAC.... but to be frank, you don't need degree if you are very good... I have taken interviews for smaller companies earlier and I never even looked at the resume or degress they had. I used to ask them what are they good at and based on that give them a small real life test and decide based on that to hire them or not. Fancy degrees don't matter to me if you can't do the job.

But the tech sector does had grown a-lot specially in India. And Indians are not low level workers anymore. But still yeah nothing beats than having your own venture. I had got some projects coz just earlier people knew how I was. I never try to step on other toes or try to take undue advantage of others or take favours and that helped in In getting some good projects a few years later. In the short run people who cheat and steal others will go ahead but in the long run they never go ahead and are left out.

The only catch is India has very big population and there are certainly lakhs of people who are equal or better than me, alot of them having the same aspiration. Also Market is atleast a 1000x more bigger, and there are alot of people looking to grab same opportunities. Not to mention, projects were alot more simpler too. During college, Tried to get started through freelancer & upwork but failed to get projects. Maybe will try to become a contractor after gaining some experience in my current company , but getting full fledged projects is certainly not feasible at this point.

And I kept two options in case one fails.
In cs, i further wish to learn more about cybersecurity space.
    Or
Shall i take a yr drop, appear for jee and wait for the results.

You might have become a CTO or Executive director in some IT company by now if you would have continued working in jobs.

It is not that easy to climb up the ladder in a company. What he has described is such a fresher mentality of doing jobs quickly like he's some kinda coding ninja lol. Doing a job quickly either means that the project wasn't that big in the first place or he has never worked on something when the requirements of the client was changing over time. Everyone does this mistake in a client facing company. It does not help you or the overall company. One must know how to work with others and see the revenue generated for a project over time. How to build trust in clients. How to do proper coverage testing. How to spread money evenly to resources. How to gain resources so that you bring in enough income and bring in more projects from the client with the trust.

on the flipside if you like your 9:00 to 6:00 job and incapable of managing the stress that comes with being an entrepreneur. sticking to your current job is fine aswell.
