Mate good on you for being a real person posting real struggles. We all have felt the stress of doing stuff ya self. Also nice to learn about you eg you being in the army..respect. can't wait to see the longer trips.
Thanks Peter! Definitely going to keep it real. Nothing worse then seeing fake scripted stuff on the internet ! We all know nothing is easy or simple so why not show it haha.
Thanks again for your support. I'm super keen also
Its about time someone did a review of how hard fitting saddlbag can be .Awesome vid mate
Thanks mate ! Thats exactly right nothing worse then when people make it look easy when it clearly never is... No sugar coating here on this channel haha
Thanks for your support man
I’ve watched your vids in no particular order and this is great. Great to see you “lose” it. So human lol. It’s strange to laugh at someone’s pain, but it was hilarious mate. It really was. I said to my wife, he’s over it and 2 seconds later you say you’re over it 😂. But the satisfaction of not allowing something to defeat you is fkn awesome eh. I’ve never put panniers on my Fat Bob, my wife’s sporty has panniers stock and when we ride we use them. I don’t get to tour so I really don’t need them. But damn they look good. Perfect outcome mate. Just perfect 👏. Awesome vid.
Hahahaha oh good times 😅 I'm glad I could provide you with a laugh mate that's what it's about ! I laugh at myself afterwards too 🤣 that's it never give up ends up "being totally worth it" in the end 🤣
Ahh yeah that makes sense, they are bloody handy sometimes 😁
Thanks again mate, appreciate the support as always
Bro, I’m so sorry I couldn’t help but laugh because it felt like me watching a video of me in my garage trying to do something new that I haven’t done before
Hahaha I'm glad I could give you a laugh at my expense that's what it's about 🤣 I'm keeping it real here on this channel mate 🤣 nothing is easy or pretty like most people make out !
Hello Matt! Wow... that was quite the job to install those panniers on your Fat Boy!!! However.... you did it!!!! The panniers look really nice too and I'm sure you will like the extra space they'll provide for your trips! The only advice I would offer you is to get the tools you'll need before you start a project like this one. That will save you much frustration and grief. I did like the fact you stayed with it and got it done!!! Good Job Matt!!! John in Oregon USA
Nice engineering in the end there Bob!!
Ya most stressful viewer experiance yet 😅
They (and bike) look great though 🤙
Cheers
Haha thanks mate, made it work
Hahaha oh yeah it was a roller coaster of emotions. Took alot longer then expected 🤣
Thank you 🙂
They look bloody good mate, perseverance pays off.🍺🍺🍺🍺🇳🇿
Thanks mate, really appreciate that 🤙
Really stoked with them they have come in handy that's for sure!!!
Great effort mate for preserving in the end you made it a stronger fit. I had similar problems with my bags, guess its a bag thing ..... love the vlogs
Thanks mate, haha I wasn't going to let it defeat me 😅🤣
Oh really... wow. Well I'm glad I'm not the only one ! Thought it was a "me" issue 🤣
Thanks for the support 🧡🖤
Love your content man you’ve helped me with the fairing install kit
Thanks so much ! Really appreciate that. Glad I could help you on that one 🙂
Worth the effort, my brother. They look GREAT. They have some tan ones I'll never get because I'd have to solder wires and put in a turn relocation kit. "Made to fit your bike" is utter BS. Anyway, don't get me worked up. Haha. Your bike looks and sounds awesome! (I have a 2023 Low Rider S). Worth every penny.
Thanks mate was an absolute mission as you seen 🤣
Yeah bro I'm lucky these one fit around my indicators. Thanks alot mate super stoked with it and definitely come in handy !
Thanks for the support mate 🙏
I had to watch this video because of my experiences with this company. I had the same struggles. Even a mechanic friend thought the instructions were complete crap. After going thru two sets of their product, the second-best thing I did was to throw away the instructions. My own brain figured out a better process, and a hardware store visit. The first-best thing I did was I stopped buying Viking products.
Edit: my first set of "leather" saddlebags were mounted by the top holes, per the instructions. A couple hours of riding, and with barely anything in the bags, the mount holes tore open wider. I found the left bag resting on top of the belt cover - the only thing keeping it from grinding into the wheel. I found the right bag resting dangerously close to the wheel. I had to invent my own four bolt bracket system after that.
Thanks for watching mate, hope you enjoyed it haha was frustrating!!!!
Ahhh bugger not looking good for me then. I'm hoping they don't fall apart on me... the video review for the panniers will be coming soon although they haven't been on all that long. The installation process alone was a massive turn off ! As you seen I got very triggered....
@GnarlyHarleyD I had many a cuss during my installations and repairs, too, hah! I hope the hard bags last a long time for you. I've only used their leathers.
😆😆 LOL What a crack up. We can all empathise on the DIY... I would have dowsed them in petrol and set them on fire 🔥. You've done a splendid job , they look great. 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣 thank you. I do look back and laugh about it now.... not at the time though 🤣
Oh I was close to doing that don't worry haha.
Thanks heaps I appreciate that
Looks really good man. So for future reference 98% of hardware on Harleys are either standard or star key bolts. Not metric. And if you ever try something like this again might I suggest making a cardboard template in the shape of the bag to get your bolt hole locations. And that would also help with making sure they both match. Keep up the awesome videos.
That's mate I've learnt alot from this for sure hahaha. That's a bloody good idea I didn't think of it at the time ! Future reference I'll try and remember the cardboard trick. Thanks alot mate appreciate your support
Good idea, as I am going to attempt to put some on my Deuce, myself!
Brother this is the the perfect interpretation of working on your own vehicle 😂😂
Hahaha thanks mate, just trying to keep it real ! Anytime I've watched a how to video they make it look easy and it makes you feel like crap haha. As you know and can see nothing ever goes to plan hahaha.
No faking it on this channel mate, thanks for the support 💙
You gained a subscriber bro! Ride safe
@@rickyorozco1200 thanks mate ! Really appreciate that 💙
HHaha keep it up mate, I would of lost that shit ages ago, love the honestly watching from central Victoria
Thanks mate ! Appreciate the support 😁
Hahaha I try my best to keep my cool but with fiddly stuff I don't do well 🤣 was a good 30 minutes trying to get that first bolt into the hole....
Victoria is beautiful I plan to do some trips down that way
I just bought a set of these. The holes looked like they would be super close to the edge. Glad i found this video. Looks like a pain in the ass. Guess I'll give it a try tomorrow 😂
Oh hell yeah man, they have been bloody awesome ! Idk if it was in this vid I can't remember haha but I ended up adding extra support on the inside instead of using washers because they were too close to the edge. Enjoy man, was definitely worth it. Still going strong. Thanks for watching 🧡 🖤 🤙
They look good believe me I’ve tried every saddlebag made these look great plus you can carry and lock everything
Oh wow really ! Well I've had these on for nearly 1 year now and they've been bloody awesome mate. No cracks or anything and I did think I'd have some by now as I do some pretty crap roads haha.
Hey man what's up from New York in the USA, don't feel bad i did a set of these on my 2011 Street Bob and yeah they are a pain in the ass when working alone and i work on motorcycles for my side biz, had to replace the hardware for stainless steel bolts , better strength and the right length, but shit man you did it cheers ! I love mine go with my Club style look. Good job on the videos.
Thanks man !!!! Oh thanks God I'm not the only one haha. So confusing that they didn't come with the right length bolts to suit etc but got there in the end hahaha.
Thanks for the support mate really appreciate it !
I ordered a set of Harley bags and it took me a week to mount them and I took them right off and sold them just looked too big and bulky so I ordered the same ones you have and will try them , just waiting for the mail to get here, thanks for the video
Oh wow, that's crazy. It was hard to find the best looking set and hoped for quality which I'm happy with the Vikings. Awesome mate, hope you enjoy them as much as I have ! Was abit of an arse to fit but I got there hahaha. 1 year strong now. Thanks for watching 🧡 🖤 🤙
Lol I feel your pain, bloody dog yapping to top it off 😂
Hahahaha I was off it! 😅
Ahh man , friendly advice , use a piece of cardboard to make a stencil for your bolt holes that you can lay against your flat surface to remark the centre of your holes , before you drill place a piece of electrical tape on your paint work over the point you need to drill , this will keep the drill bit stable when you drill and not squiggle all over ya paint . Never give in , ever , also shout ya self a mechanics stool on rollers , will save ya back when you work on or , clean ya bike . Great vlog, I felt your pain n frustration , I silently smiled , wished I was ya next door neighbor so I could pop over and give you a hand . Ya did bloody awesome 👍👍
Ahhhh damn ! That's a really smart idea idk why I didn't think of that haha. Got so stuck into try to follow the stupid (crap) instructions haha.
Thanks for the tips man I will definitely keep that in my mind for future projects! That stool sounds like a great idea also thank you.
Thanks again for the support mate !
I got there in the end hahahah
Your bike is looking the part, not over the top but user friendly , your making it your own and that’s cool, and one more thing , Fatbobs rule, I love mine👍❤️
@@Scrote69A thanks mate, absolutely love it now 🙂
They sure do !!!!
Liking your content mate, I need to sack up and release my Harley content for tassie haha. Don’t mind the bags, I think and aftermarket seat and bars would make them suit much more
Thanks mate, hell yeah chuck it up! I'd love to make it down there at some stage, would be amazing footage
I’m the 100th subscriber 😎👍
Oh hell yeah !!!!!! Thanks so much. Really appreciate the support !
Hope you are enjoying the content 😁
100 !!!!!!!!!!
Looks Good on Your Bike, and They are Great to have. I use My Bags Every Time I ride. Could Never go back to Naked.
Thanks for the comment Mike appreciate it 😁 it has been so good just being able to throw my stuff in there or pop into the shops even and grab a few things ! Hoping they last. I don't think I could either mate
😂😂 man I literally fk up everything I work on my Ute bike etc. I lose my shit way worse but I’m glad I’m not the only one 👍🏻
Hahaha ! I'm glad I'm not the only one either lol. As bad it sounds I'm happy to hear this 🤣 my old boy is the same too hahaha
Good on ya mate love ya honesty good video really enjoyed it like your style Matt had a good laugh with you not at you we have all been in that situation that's how you learn I'm glad you perserved 👍they look good mate
Thanks alot mate ! Really appreciate that. Haha it was a bloody bastard of a job but it was bloody well worth it hahaha. Appreciate the support cheers 🤙
Regards from America my man . I have the same fxdf . I wanted to put V bags on mine . But they require the rear turn signal relocation kit on the xl bags & on top of that you have to drill the holes and all that other bs . Honestly I just see myself getting pissed and blackout drunk just to ease the stress with the install .
Thanks mate ! Oh wicked, such great bikes absolutely love mine. Yeah as you can see I was pretty damn triggered and adding another step in there of relocating the signals, would of probably tipped me over the edge hahaha. Was definitely not fun ! But can say they are very handy so im enjoying them now.
Thanks heaps for checking out my channel man !
I feel ya mate from California! Took me all day to install mine. My biggest decision was either sending them back or making that first drill hole. Lol
Thanks for tuning in from California man ! Appreciate the support 🙂
Haha man i wasn't sure if it was just me or everyone who struggled with the install ! Glad I wasn't the only one 🤣
Yeah that was the most daunting part hey !
How long have you had yours on for now ? Any issue's or are they still holding up well
@@Gnarly_Harley one day! That’s the ironic part cause I thought I was the only one that was in hell for a day and I saw your video and you Actually made me feel better. The directions were worthless all those extra bolts everything we went through how could that company even exist?
@@billzeitzmann6029 I have no idea man. I'm still very confused why it came with so many bolts I couldn't use 🤣
The review on this product will be coming soon
Very good vid..
Thanks heaps !!! Really appreciate that 🙏
Nice job! New subscriber. Hello from redford michigan.
Welcome!!! Thanks so much I really appreciate it. Redford I'll have to google that one. I'm learning so many new places
Awesome. Great channel. Just catching up on all the videos and I'm a mile outside of Detroit.
Hey Matt, love your vids, honest and real :-) I've got a 2012 fat bob and you've now inspired me to put panniers and Memphis on mine. Btw, what size panniers did U go for, I think U do mention in another vid but gawd I can't find it now lol. I'm local to sunny coast, actually not far from you, we should go for a ride some time :-)
Hey mate, thanks so much I really appreciate that ! Oh hell yeah man definitely go for it both of these "mods" have been amazing !!
I got the Viking Lamellar Raven Extra Large Shock Cut-out Painted Hard Saddlebags for Harley Dyna Fat Bob FXDF/SE

Thank you ! 🙂
Hey Mate
Bob says G’day
🤣🤣🤣🤣 well G'day bob ! Haha
@@Gnarly_Harley 🤣🤣
We’ll done mate, I would have smashed and burnt them.
Haha cheers mate I was close !
I was wondering if you were ever going to get saddlebags or panniers for your Fatbob. $1100? My jaw just hit the floor! But they do look bloody good. Suits the bike well.
Your missus follows my principles, huh? Easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.
If your back is giving you hell, maybe look at buying a motorcycle lift/stand? Welll worth the cost
Next time don't go to hardware for automotive hardware. Boltmasters etc are the best bet
9.5/10
Happy trails, Cowpoke
Yeah they were the only good look hard panniers I could find unfortunately! But they have been totally worth it looking back. Hahaha yeah something like that !
I'll look into a stand that would be great.
I'll definitely always be going to specialists from now on
