Well done man. As an artist myself I started this project myself and drew Mario in voxels and it was VERY difficult. I ended up then drawing a few sprites from Mario Kart and then moved on to another project. Well done for having the patience to get through all of the frames. It's awesome to see it come to life!

I think the bonzai bill should have a cannon rising from the void beyond the level before it fires the bill. And after firing ammunition it sinks back down.

Fun fact mario 64 was to be like this shigeru miamoto creator of mario says that when they was making the super mario 64 ideas the game was to be a 3d linear game that you can move to the 8 direction but the levels was more like 2d mario linear no stars but super mario 64 team notice that 3d mario can be too much incredible with you going to anywhere you want :)

give the shell a physics material and set the frictions to zero and the bounciness to 1 or something and it should slide with easy and bounce off of walls.
i would have added a rigidbody to the fireballs with a sphere collider to give them the bounce with some code to tweak it just right. maybe a physics material to give them bounce.

Man this video makes me want to go to my WII U and make a level in super mario maker or take the super mario advance thing that we got i think from our attic and use it on my nintendo DS lite that i got after my DSI got damaged inside somehow and now isnt able to charge (even if it somehow recharged from alone because it took weeks until you need to charge again)

This is really good. If you are to make another voxel remake like this, though, I'd recommend using a different technique for voxel creation. Instead of making it from scratch or even molding it out, you should layer the side and front-facing sprites on top of one another and make them overlap before adding cubes onto that. This gives you a good reference for what you're making, and I totally didn't steal this technique from CodyCantEatThis.

we need an AI based plugin that can turn 2D sprites into 3D voxels. it may need some tweaking after but the overall job will pretty much be done.
