Fast forward to 2023, and BYD has become the global leader in EV sales, outpacing even Tesla. Now, it’s Tesla’s turn to be ridiculed, and by none other than Warren Buffett’s business partner Charlie Munger: "BYD is so much ahead of Tesla [...]… it's almost ridiculous." Byd is very successful in horizontal integration in shipping, semiconductors, mining, battery, software and EV. It has technology and cost advantage over its competitors.

Tesla can't beat BYD outside US and Europe cause other continents are not placing tariffs on them and Tesla can't compete in the low cost market.
Tesla can't even produce a $25k EV they've been promising for years. Meanwhile, BYD has $10k EVs.
The question remains if Tesla wants to be in the low cost market or just keeps offering higher priced but more technologically advanced cars.
@@FutureCurious Problem is they're not technically more advanced. And I think they gave up on the low-end market cause they know they can't compete.

There is one comment from Charlie Munger in the video which is still true… just look at BYD vs. Tesla EV sales in China.

BYD sales in America is 0. But that's not the point, the point is that Charlie Munger's statement is still true: BYD is decades ahead in China. And so is Tesla in the US for sure.
EV are not reliable and it’s very expensive. Also insurance and repairs are expensive.
True, they're currently still expensive even though companies have released much cheaper models recently. But they're not more expensive in repairs, in fact, the opposite is true.
That’s not what I’ve heard once you are out of guarantee.

Also, many car manufacturers already lost like 60% on EV because are not buying them 🤣
BYD has $10k EVs. That's not expensive. That's cheaper than ICE cars lol.
