- Maruti Suzuki has achieved a disappointing zero star rating in Global NCAP’s new round of #SaferCarsForIndia crash tests. The S-Presso was only fitted with a driver airbag as standard, achieving zero stars for adult occupant protection and two stars for child occupant protection.
There is no place for zero rated cars in the Indian market. It remains a great disappointment that an important manufacturer like Maruti Suzuki does not recognise this.

I am looking to buy a car this year.. brezza kuv300 Nexon are options.. neighbour has Nexon.. he's unhappy.. kuv300 expensive... Brezza everything better except safety ratings..

I like how we, as Indian consumers, want great quality, 5 star safety, mileage, power, touchscreens and luxury, all at the BEST most affordable price. Remember that the consumer is driving the market, not the other way.
Tested at 64km/hr. People drive faster than that speed on highways and in some roads within the cities too. Imagine the test figures at speeds around 80kph and above 🤦🏻♂️
Imagine two cars collide while travelling at 64kmph in a highway in opposite direction. The collision would have an impact of 128kmph on each car, where none of these TATAs will be safe.

Why does the tilte say 'Maruti Suzuki' instead of 'Maruti Suzuki S-Presso' ??
This variant does not get pre tensioners for seatbelts, the vxi plus models get dual airbags and belt pretensioners. It might've scored 2 stars as the passenger compartment hasn't suffered deformation. The passenger compartment in Kwid and Redigo suffered deformation in gncap crash test

I have lost two of my uncles in Maruti Cars. Now there is a general consesus in our extended family to avoid purchasing of any Maruti car.

One of my uncle's also got badly hurt in a Swift Dezire in 2017. Could never fully recover but he did survived. Since then no Maruti in our family.

I think if the S-presso had 2 airbags it would have got 1 star atleast. A pillar didn't bend alot (just a bit at the top) and the dashboard of the car didn't pop out which honestly I was expecting to! But still it's a tin😂
Yup. The explaination they gave for the zero rating was that the passenger's neck was injured. Well no shit, there was no passenger airbag, what did they expect lol.

*driver and front passenger’s seat belts are too loose/not tensioned enough, letting them slide forward by quite a bit before locking. Both driver and front passenger experience _incredible_ whiplash
*airbag is driver-only for some reason?
*front passenger’s side of the dashboard is one long corner edge that the passenger could slam their face onto during a crash

This is how the rating is determined by the points earned. There's much more but these are the fundamentals on which they are rated.
Bought a new car recently. My father was pressurising me to go for Maruti, a typical sheep mentality. It's good that I did my research and finally went for Honda Amaze in compact sedan segment.

Suzuki cars tested on Euro NCAP is different from those on Indian roads. For example, European swift has a gross weight of 1365 while Indian made has around 900kg.
This is not euro ncap. Any version will not score more than 2 stars for sure.

In test Dummys were wearing seatbelt, but in india majority of people drive without seatbelt and dont have airbags installed, imagine if accident like this happen 😓😓😓

Like BS6 we should Bharat Security Standard to setup minimum requirements to be filled.
Also the speed limit should not exceed more than 20% of national highway limit. Engine IC must be programmed for this.

They already have cars with good safety in the international market, it shouldn't be that hard for them to improve safety on the same models sold in India.
Maybe the next generation of Suzuki and Hyundai cars would be good in terms of safety...
But below 3.5-4 lakhs i don't think it's possible to make a car with good safety ratings...it's just not possible.
